Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s Chapter 2338 - 2274: Help!

Previously on Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s...
After enduring Gao Wei’s relentless harassment and physical threats, Du Jinruo and a battered Kuang Yunxian find a moment of peace at the hospital. Their quiet conversation about a potential future together is interrupted by the arrival of a group of severely injured men. To their shock and grim satisfaction, they recognize the mangled patients as Gao Wei and his thugs. Having witnessed Chiang Xiao's earlier fury at the teahouse, they realize she has delivered a brutal retribution that leaves Gao Wei unrecognizable and the medical staff stunned.

Du Jinruo pulled her eyes away and spoke to Kuang Yunxian, "Yun Xian, we should transfer to a different hospital in a moment."

Since they had picked the closest medical facility, it was obvious those other people had done the same.

Gao Ming and his wife would undoubtedly rush to this location once the Gao Family received the news. She had no desire to encounter them.

"We have already finished our check-up, actually. We can just grab the medicine and go; switching hospitals isn't necessary," Kuang Yunxian replied. "I'm just wondering how Xiao Chiang is faring right now."

"She ought to be alright, shouldn't she?" Du Jinruo reflected for a second. "Yun Xian, if we are asked to give a statement, we will just say we have no idea who attacked Gao Wei."

A smile played on Kuang Yunxian’s lips.

"I was under the impression that you didn't like Xiao Chiang?"

A look of slight embarrassment crossed Du Jinruo's face. "I never claimed to like her now. I still don't like her, but I can certainly distinguish between my grudges. She assisted you and secured your revenge, and she also helped me release my frustration, so I can recognize the difference."

"Very well, have it your way."

Du Jinruo offered a faint smile.

"I'll go settle the bill for the medicine; wait here for a bit."

Kuang Yunxian watched her walk away. Thinking back to the pathetic state of Gao Wei and his group, she couldn't help but chuckle again.

Gao Ming was stunned by the report and rushed to the hospital alongside his wife.

They hurried over in a panic the moment they entered and saw Gao Wei with ice packs over his eyes and his entire face wrapped in bandages.

"Ah Wei!"

"Xiao Wei! Mom’s precious son, what happened to you? Who was responsible for this?"

Gao Wei had been unconscious upon arrival, unaware he was even at the hospital. Waking up to the sound of someone calling him, he felt a heavy, painful sensation in his eyes that prevented him from opening them. He suddenly began thrashing his arms and screaming at the top of his lungs, remembering the feeling of impending death when Chiang Xiao had struck his acupoints.

"I'm dying! Dad! Help me! I'm going to die!"

Aside from his mouth, nose bridge, and eyes, his body was actually unharmed. However, Gao Wei was paralyzed by fear; the previous experience had been so overwhelming and left such a vivid impression that he felt as though his entire frame was weak and fixed in place.

The ice pack slid off his face, but he didn't dare open his eyes, his voice cracking from the intensity of his shrieks.

"I’m dying! I can’t move! Dad, my entire body is paralyzed! Dad, save me!"

Gao Wei continued to scream while his hands flailed about wildly.

Nurses and doctors hurried to the scene, struggling to hold him down.

Gao Ming felt both horrified and enraged.

"What is the meaning of this? Doctor, I am Gao Ming! This boy is my son. Have you performed a complete check-up?"

The doctor was already breaking into a sweat.

"Gao, Alliance Officer Gao, your son has already been examined. His nose and eyes suffered a heavy impact, but the damage isn't critical. By that, I mean it looks terrible, but it is mostly swelling that will fade in a few days. His chin was hit by an external force as well, causing him to bite his tongue and bleed, so he must be cautious while eating for a while. Other than that, there are no major issues."

Just as the doctor finished his sentence, Gao Wei fought against his restraints and yelled, "I'm dying! Dad, I'm paralyzed from head to toe! I can't move my hands, I can't lift my head, my bones are gone!"

The onlookers stared at him with expressions of total disbelief.

He had already tumbled off the bed, requiring several medical staff members just to pin him down. Was this what he considered being paralyzed? Was this his version of being unable to move his hands or lift his head?
