"It’s no wonder they call this a wildlife park; is everything truly free-range?" Chen Siqing remarked, having visited Red Mountain Zoo but never encountered such an environment.
Jiang Ning surveyed the scene, finding it strangely familiar. The Yun City Zoo’s design had benefited from the Evergreen Liquid Group’s input, resulting in many areas being more developed than anticipated. Shao Shuangshuang had even orchestrated a surprise.
Xue Yuantong produced carrot sticks from her bag, and the scent immediately drew the antelopes and sheep closer.
Hesitantly, Xue Yuantong extended her hand to touch a sheep’s horn, then swiftly retracted it, startled.
After several more attempts, her fear subsided. She turned her small face towards Jiang Ning, her smile beaming.
Jiang Ning reciprocated the smile, feeling a sense of contentment.
A voice interjected from nearby, "What’s this? Eating carrots? Ten yuan for a portion is too steep for me!"
"How about this!" Duan Shigang produced a yellow cigarette and offered it to an antelope, "No carrots, have a smoke, my friend."
Beside him, Zhang Chi watched in astonishment, thinking that even someone lacking manners could admire Duan Shigang’s audacity.
The antelope spat out the cigarette and ambled away, shaking its head.
Zhang Chi noticed two plump, long-necked sheep with white wool grazing by the roadside and inquired, "What exactly are those?"
Liu Chuandao replied, "Zhang Chi, they’re alpacas!"
Zhang Chi’s expression shifted instantly, his voice laced with anger, "Are you trying to insult me again?"
From nearby, Fang Qiuyue of Class 2 erupted in laughter, explaining, "Those are llamas, also known as alpacas."
Zhang Chi cursed under his breath.
Yet, he remained displeased, convinced Liu Chuandao had deliberately provoked him.
Jiang Ning explored the park for a while longer. Xue Yuantong then expressed a desire to see the ostriches, prompting the recommencement of their journey on the sightseeing car.
On the broad road encircling the park, students were engaged in races. Notably present were the infamous ‘Black and White Double Killers’ from Class 11, known for issuing numerous racing challenges.
As they zipped past Jiang Ning’s flower-themed car, Gu Tai and Luo Jun’s attention was captured by the twins. Gu Tai let out a whistle and swaggered past.
This was unmistakably a challenge to race.
Jiang Ning found the situation rather amusing. It seemed Luo Jun’s lingering trauma from the ‘Four Golden Flowers’ incident had faded with time.
Xue Yuantong called out, "Jiang Ning!"
Jiang Ning lightly tapped the pedal with his foot, responding, "Alright, let’s give it a go."
The flower car surged forward with unexpected speed, swiftly overtaking the racing car of the Black and White Double Killers.
"Whoa, we’ve got a master here!" Gu Tai exclaimed in surprise.
Luo Jun urged, "Damn it, faster!"
The pair pedaled furiously, channeling all their effort. The racing car accelerated, gradually closing the gap.
Lan Zichen and Shang Wanqing, along with two other first-year students, were en route to the Tiger and Leopard Zone, feeling the wind rush past them.
With a quick glance, Shang Wanqing recognized Jiang Ning instantly and shouted, "Brother Jiang Ning, you’re incredibly fast! I love it!"
Jiang Ning had no time to spare.
Inside their vehicle, Chen Siyu glanced back at Shang Wanqing, gripping her sister’s hand and muttering, ‘Damn it!’
Behind them, the racing car continued to accelerate, accelerating through the corners with alarming speed.
The Black and White Double Killers executed a daring drift through a turn!
Suddenly, a tall figure materialized by the side of the road. Luo Jun and Gu Tai yelled in unison, "Get out of the way, move!"
It was too late. Traveling at an uncontrollable velocity, the two lost control of their cars, and their occupants were ejected.
After extricating themselves, Luo Jun and Gu Tai limped towards their wrecked racing car. They were merely renters, and the park staff had explicitly stated prior to the free rental that any damage incurred would require compensation.
Nearby classmates cast concerned glances. Wu Xiaoqi, dribbling a basketball, belted out a tune, "Run forward, face the cold stares and the ridicule!"
Luo Jun and Gu Tai were deeply annoyed and felt utterly helpless! Wu Xiaoqi possessed a certain notoriety within their grade; he had once led Deng Xiang and others and had even clashed with Wu Yunzhi, indicating he was not someone to be trifled with.
Jiang Ning, in addition to being an exemplary student, possessed considerable athletic prowess, making him even more formidable.
Ultimately, Luo Jun and Gu Tai set their sights on the girl they had nearly collided with. Upon closer inspection, they were struck by her beauty – her figure, her face, her long hair, all were exquisite.
The stout, dark-skinned Gu Tai’s eyes narrowed, and he barked, "Hey girl, stop right there!"
Pei Yujing responded with a questioning, "Huh?"
Gu Tai cleared his throat twice and, in a defiant tone, placed the blame squarely on her: "Classmate, if it weren’t for you earlier, we could have drifted through that corner. Now we’re wrecked. What do you think should be done about this?"
Pei Yujing took a step back as a gentle breeze rustled a few strands of her hair. She appeared slightly bewildered, stating, "I apologize. I wasn't actually on the road earlier."
Gu Tai’s aggressive posture faltered.
The pale-faced Luo Jun chimed in, cooperating with Gu Tai's attempt: "It’s alright, after all, we crashed pretty hard; it’s a minor issue."
Pei Yujing visibly relaxed upon hearing his words.
Showing his injuries, Gu Tai revealed scraped and bleeding knees and elbows, the pain so intense it made him gasp.
"It's your fault for not being on the road! You disrupted our path and caused this disaster!" Gu Tai roared.
Luo Jun mentally applauded Gu Tai's performance, stepping in as the 'good cop' to say persuasively, "Forget it, forget it. She didn't mean it. Let's just drop it."
The fatty, Gu Tai, became furious. "This isn't over!"
Seeing the pretty girl Pei Yujing bowing her head apologetically and pitifully amidst their yelling, Luo Jun felt an extreme sense of satisfaction!
The two exchanged a glance, preparing to enact their next maneuver.
Just then, a flower carriage slowly approached them. Jiang Ning spoke calmly, "You two are awfully quick to blame others."
Gu Tai's expression shifted, and he stiffly retorted, "It’s none of your business."
Jiang Ning remained seated in the carriage, his tone unfazed. "Alright, just move along."
Luo Jun was shocked by the blatant arrogance and fumed, "You tell me to leave, and I should just leave?"
"Oh? Then I might have to call for Pang Jiao. I’m sure she’d simply love to have a 'discussion' with you."
At these words, Luo Jun recalled past traumas of being dominated, struggling to draw a breath.
The Black and White Double Killers had lost one of their own. Although Hei Xiaopang Gu Tai was confident he had a fifty-fifty chance against Jiang Ning, he knew he was in the wrong!
The atmosphere grew somewhat quiet.
Pei Yujing secretly glanced at Jiang Ning. 'It's him again...'
She instinctively touched her belly, a dazed realization dawning that it had all been a lie.
Just as Luo Jun and Gu Tai were plotting their retreat, Xu Yan, the monitor of Class 11, made her appearance.
Xu Yan was, in essence, Class 11's spiritual pillar!
Gu Tai immediately pointed the finger, "Monitor! Jiang Ning raced against us. We tried to dodge him, but ended up crashing like this! Ouch!"
He displayed his knee and elbow wounds, bruised and battered, a sight that was difficult to witness.
Upon seeing this, Xu Yan’s brow furrowed. She was well aware of the characters Gu Tai and Luo Jun were, and suspected they were likely the ones at fault initially.
However, as the monitor of Class 11, if she didn’t stand up for her injured classmates, she would be failing in her duty.
Xu Yan had held sway over Class 11 for over a year, wielding considerable influence within their small circle, naturally cultivating an air of command.
Coupled with her striking beauty, she was constantly surrounded by admiring sycophants, mingling with the popular figures of their year, which significantly boosted her self-esteem.
Xu Yan remained silent for a few moments, her gaze fixed on Jiang Ning and his companions. "Regarding this incident, I require an explanation from you."
Xue Yuantong's eyes twitched. 'Arrogant!'
Jiang Ning smirked, about to utter a word, when Xue Yuantong suddenly rose to her feet.
Standing atop the flower carriage, Xue Yuantong hummed, "An explanation? You're asking *me* for an explanation?"
