Lin Zida's fishing trip ended in disaster when the net broke and all the fish escaped. Hungry and dejected, he stopped by Jiang Ning's house and was offered leftovers. While eating, a strangely animated steamed crab in his bowl seemed to attack his chopsticks. Later, discussions turned to an upcoming temple fair and the unpleasant experiences some had with stall owners at ring toss games.

Chen Siqing declared, "I can't afford to play!"

Chen Siyu chimed in, "Unlike our classmates, who are all willing to accept their losses."

Xue Yuantong proclaimed with vigor, "If I were to set up a stall, I would certainly put an end to this corrupt trend, bring benevolence to the entire market, and dare to lead the way!"

The twins voiced their agreement in unison: "Exactly! Exactly!"

Jiang Ning then queried, "Alright, shall we set up a stall today?"

"Huh?" Three pairs of eyes turned to stare.

Jiang Ning explained casually, "Tongtong's family has about three or four boxes of leftover Wangzai milk, and there are so many stuffed toys at home they barely fit. They would be perfect as prizes."

"What about the rings?" Xue Yuantong inquired.

Jiang Ning replied, "Dongdong is a master craftsman; he made many bamboo rings for lanterns before. We can utilize those."

"How will we handle the stall itself?" Chen Siqing wondered.

Jiang Ning stated, "We'll rent one. The city temple fair has management points available."

Chen Siqing was left speechless, thinking, 'He's so well-prepared?'

Jiang Ning instructed, "Tongtong, go pick out some of the less appealing dolls from home. I'll go borrow a tricycle from Boss Yang."

Tongtong protested, "What about my Wangzai? I still want to drink it!"

"There's enough milk at home for you to drink," Jiang Ning assured her.

Chen Siyu added, "Indeed, Jiang Ning has plenty of milk too."

Chen Siqing chimed in, "At Jiang Ning's house."

Xue Yuantong pouted, "Okay then."

Jiang Ning made his way to the rural tourism site, where Zhuang Jianhui and the others were found devouring rice with toppings at the entrance, evidently quite hungry.

"Borrow the vehicle? Sure!"

"What, setting up a stall?"

"Just those items won't suffice. How about this, I'll provide a carton of Yuxi, soft Chinese cigarettes, as a grand prize." Boss Yang was exceptionally generous.

Jiang Ning responded, "Alright, I'll bring them back for you later."

Boss Yang chuckled softly, not taking it too seriously, as Jiang Ning had greatly assisted him earlier by dealing with the pigeons.

"Oh, and I also have a piece of red carpet you can use," he added.

Jiang Ning obtained the car keys and set off on the electric tricycle.

Xu Wenyi, having overheard their conversation, couldn't help but ask, "Are you planning to do business to earn money? Are you short of funds?"

Jiang Ning replied, "Yes. Would you like to make a cameo appearance as friendly service staff?"

Xu Wenyi quickly shook her head; if she were to participate, it would be as a dancer.

Meanwhile, Yin Yu, with her long, straight black hair, was eating voraciously, even more so than Zhuang Jianhui and Gong Jin.

She cast a curious glance, asking, "Does it sound interesting?"

Jiang Ning answered, "It's my first attempt."

Yin Yu pondered the suggestion.

...

After all the preparations for the stall were complete, the items were piled into the rear cargo bed of the tricycle.

Xue Yuantong quietly squeezed into the driver's seat, and Chen Siyu followed suit. Everyone knew that the seat of a battery-powered tricycle was relatively wide, yet it still couldn't accommodate Jiang Ning after the two girls were seated.

Jiang Ning chuckled, "Should I sit in the cargo bed?"

Chen Siyu protested, "No way! Then there'll be no one to drive!"

The elder sister, Chen Siqing, made the sensible decision, pulling her younger sister from the driver's seat and into the cargo bed, where she sat upon the folded red carpet.

Jiang Ning took charge of driving, while Tongtong was designated to give directions.

Jiang Ning engaged the throttle, and the tricycle surged forward with potent speed, ascending the river dam in a single, powerful burst.

As they cruised along the river dam, Chen Siqing suddenly raised a concern: "Jiang Ning, with so many people on our vehicle, aren't we breaking the law?"

Xue Yuantong dismissed the worry, "No worries, Jiang Ning rides fast."

Chen Siyu looked puzzled, "Isn't riding fast even more of a violation?"

After turning from the asphalt road on the river dam onto Nanhong Road, indeed, a uniformed officer was stationed at the intersection, checking for traffic violations.

Jiang Ning's tricycle openly passed the officer ahead, and Xue Yuantong even offered a cheerful greeting: "Hey!"

The officer responded with a nod, acknowledging the salutation.

Behind them, a battery-powered cart with a rain cover, carrying two individuals, attempted to bluff its way through. As it passed the officer, the occupants also offered a "Hey!"

The uniformed officer's expression shifted, and he shouted, "Get down, get down, you silly fools!"

The driver of the battery cart looked utterly bewildered.

Jiang Ning rode his way to Temple Fair Street. Although the official fair was scheduled for the next day, it was already quite bustling. Jiang Ning paid 80 yuan to secure a vending spot.

He then slowly approached the street, drawing frequent glances from passersby due to the twins occupying the cargo bed.

Xue Yuantong kept glancing over at the nearby stalls, eyeing candied hawthorn, grilled gluten, fried skewers, and sautéed squid...

She stealthily tugged at Jiang Ning's hand.

As it playfully tugged at him, Jiang Ning responded, "Once we've earned some money, I'll treat you to some delicious food."

Upon arrival at their rented spot, Jiang Ning observed that the vicinity was teeming with ring-tossing stalls. The ground was adorned with an assortment of trinkets, live creatures, beverages, and playthings.

He maneuvered the vehicle to a halt, and the proprietors of the adjacent booths all directed curious gazes towards the unusual setup.

Chen Siyu then proceeded to unload the red carpet, and along with her sister, they unfurled it across the ground.

To the north stood a slender proprietor, while to the south was the burly Boss Zhuang. Their sole shared characteristic was a tan considerably deeper than Huang Yuzhu's.

Competitors, by their very nature, can become rivals, and their proximity might even incite a price war.

Boss Zhuang, without even glancing at Jiang Ning, remained fixated on the twins, sensing a flicker of recognition.

Chen Siyu whispered to Jiang Ning, "What a coincidence, that stern-looking boss is the difficult one who insisted on a second attempt last time when Yuxia was fortunate enough to win a valuable prize."

Jiang Ning recalled the incident.

The dark-skinned, thin man chuckled, "Your prizes are quite underwhelming. Just look at my Great Sage Equalling Heaven—so mighty!"

Chen Siyu cast a glance at the Great Sage Equalling Heaven figurine; it was indeed depicted as rather heroic and imposing.

While they were still arranging the carpet, Chen Siqing addressed the thin, dark-skinned man, "Boss, you're encroaching a bit. Could you possibly shift over slightly?"

The thin man dismissed her concern with a laugh, "A little extra space won't hurt."

Xue Yuantong felt a ripple of displeasure; why was even a small advantage being contested?

Jiang Ning offered a smile, "Boss, your Great Sage Equalling Heaven is quite impressive. How much are the rings? And how many would it take to win it?"

The thin man pondered for a moment, then held up three fingers. "Three rings. Why, do you fancy giving it a go?"

Jiang Ning expended five yuan, acquiring fifteen rings in the process.

With a skillful throw, three rings sailed through the air simultaneously, landing with a soft clink around the Great Sage Equalling Heaven.

The expression on the thin man's face darkened considerably.

Xue Yuantong declared, "Your Great Sage Equalling Heaven now belongs to us."

Jiang Ning then displayed the remaining twelve rings in his hand, stating, "I'm not particularly keen on playing further."

The thin man realized he had encountered a master and, submissively, relocated the Great Sage Equalling Heaven to Jiang Ning's designated area, relinquishing the encroached stall space.

Furthermore, the thin man returned the five yuan he had collected and retreated to his stool, remaining silent.

The burly man situated to the south observed Jiang Ning with increased scrutiny after witnessing the exchange.

Time progressed, and Jiang Ning's stall gradually took its final form. Tongtong occupied a small wooden stool, overseeing the operations, while the twins stood ready with their hook-tipped poles for retrieving rings.

"Hello, what's the price for the rings?" a woman accompanied by a child inquired.

Tongtong was the first to call out, "One yuan per ring!"

At that very moment, Boss Zhuang abruptly shouted, "One yuan for three rings!"

Chen Siyu bristled with indignation: 'Such malicious pricing!'

Boss Zhuang shot a glance at his neighbor, a smug grin on his face: 'What good is skill in ring tossing? I can simply drive you out!'

To his surprise, the young woman still opted to purchase rings from Jiang Ning's stall. "Ah, I'll take ten yuan's worth."

Chen Siyu directly voiced her concern, "Miss, don't you find that rather expensive?"

The woman let out a soft chuckle, amused by the girl's apparent innocence; such an earnest business practice was rarely seen.

"I simply prefer the items at your stall more," she explained.

After receiving her rings, the woman took aim at a can of Wangzai.

Jiang Ning had established the rules: two cans of Wangzai could be redeemed for a doll, or the cans themselves could be kept.

She tossed a ring, which traced an arc through the air and, remarkably, snagged a can of Wangzai.

The woman's spirits soared, and her young son was ecstatic.

Having used all ten rings, she had won two cans of Wangzai. Ultimately, she exchanged them for a small brown puppy doll and departed with evident satisfaction, feeling she had secured an excellent deal.

Xue Yuantong, her earlier displeasure forgotten, exclaimed to Jiang Ning, "That puppy doll cost you 1 yuan at the mall, meaning we've made a profit of 9 yuan!"

Jiang Ning countered, "You haven't factored in the stall rental fee."

"Oh, in that case, we still owe 71 yuan..." Xue Yuantong's initial joy diminished slightly.

Chen Siyu whispered conspiratorially to her sister, "Tongtong is about to take over the boss lady's spot. Sister, you need to show some courage!"
