Alex confronts Alpha about her past and her true intentions, suspecting she joined their organization for a hidden purpose. He reveals his growing concern about a shadowy organization that seems connected to many of the major conflicts he's faced, including the attack on the research facility and the fall of House Frost. Alpha confirms the possibility of this organization's involvement in the research facility attack, leading Alex to suspect their ultimate goal is not chaos, but disunity.

The next day, Alex woke up feeling light. It only took him a moment to realise why once the weariness of sleep cleared from his eyes.

He had slept the previous night with three gorgeous women wrapped around him. However, this morning, he was all alone in bed.

Alex rose to a seated position on the bed, holding his head.

A lot of things had happened the previous day, and he felt like he had been hit with more revelations than he should have had to take in within a single day.

Uthvaazgol’s revelation of Mythos and the confirmation that Alpha was indeed the person who had saved Udara all those years ago undoubtedly ranked among the most important things he had learnt the previous day.

Speaking of Alpha, he recalled their conversation from when she was about to leave the office the previous night.

—

When Alpha reached the door, she suddenly paused.

"You are not going to ask about my identity—my real name, origin and such?" she inquired.

"Currently, you are my employee—I would even like to consider you my vassal. I don’t need to pry into your private life as long as it doesn’t affect your job, which you have been doing quite well.

"Notwithstanding, if you wish to reveal it to me, I will no doubt listen, as I am admittedly curious. But if you are going to do so, I believe there is someone who deserves that revelation more than me," Alex replied.

Alpha smiled.

"For a long while, I thought you took after Drake, but it turns out you actually have more of Amelia in you," she commented.

Alex’s eyes widened in surprise.

"You know my parents?" he asked.

"I do." Alpha nodded. "Long before all of this happened," she added with a somewhat melancholic smile.

She shook her head. Then, suddenly, the air around her changed, becoming incredibly solemn.

Crack~ Break!

Alex heard something shatter. With the Spirit Sights of his Truth-Seeker Eyes, he saw Alpha’s mana suddenly surge.

’Grand Magus,’ Alex muttered inwardly.

Not only was Alpha a Grand Mage, but she was also on the verge of breaking through to Legend.

’She might even be closer than Prince Caesar,’ Alex mused to himself.

"I, Telena Angaste—titled Dawnwalker—hereby swear true fealty to you. I proclaim you my liege and pledge to you my loyalty and service.

"My abilities, knowledge, and standing shall be yours to call upon from this day forth.

"My loyalty shall endure so long as you do not betray me, forsake the one who holds my heart, or knowingly command me to act against my principles after I have warned you.

"By my name and honour, I give you my oath."

Before Alex could make sense of what was going on, Alpha swore an oath of fealty to him. Suddenly, he saw Lord Bonsai’s phantom totem appear, taking on the thread of Providence that shot towards him.

Since the Fortune-Suppressing Dragon was currently digesting the overfed Providence, Lord Bonsai had probably stepped in to manage the situation.

Once things settled, Alex looked at Alpha—or rather, Telena Angaste—for a moment, speechlessly.

"You didn’t have to go that far," he expressed.

"I know... but I wanted to." Telena smiled.

Alex nodded with a shrug, accepting the situation.

"I won’t tell Udara about you. That is something you should do yourself," he said.

"I am grateful for that. I will tell her myself—if the situation demands it," Telena said.

Alex raised an eyebrow. ’If the situation demands it?’

Still, he had given his word, so he said nothing.

Telena’s mana shrank and shackled back to somewhere around mid-Great Mage, causing Alex to chuckle wryly. The woman bowed and left the office.

—

Alex rubbed between his eyebrows as the memories faded. It felt surreal that he had acquired a Grand Mage—an almost Legendary Mage—just like that.

Still, it was a card that he had to keep close to his heart, rather than activating it needlessly.

’Nothing is ever simple.’ He sighed to himself.

Just as Alex got off the bed to wash up, the door swung open and Eleanore walked in.

"You are up." She said with a smile, then walked up and kissed him.

"I thought you had all left, leaving me behind," Alex said, playfully pouting.

Eleanore laughed. "You looked worn out from the meetings you had yesterday. We thought we should let you sleep longer while we went about our business.

"At least, I stayed behind till you woke, didn’t I?"

Alex looked at her sceptically. "Why do I feel it’s less that you waited and more like you forgot something?"

"I didn’t forget anything. I came to change my bra. My back and shoulder are killing me," Eleanore said.

"So you do accept that you left me behind." Alex glared at her.

Eleanore laughed as she took off her clothes, leaving her torso bare. Her bosom bounced about as she moved around to put on a tighter breast-support garment, causing Alex to swallow a mouthful of saliva.

’Beautiful and bountiful.’ Alex said inwardly.

He walked up behind her and held her bosom up from behind.

Eleanore swatted his hands. "And what do you think you are doing with your naughty hands?" she asked, smiling.

"Doing what a good husband should do—supporting his wife," Alex quipped.

Eleanore burst into laughter.

"If you want to support me, massage my shoulders and back instead of playing with my breasts," she said, pushing his naughty hands away.

However, rather than admonishing him, it sounded like an invitation to Alex.

"Right away, my princess. Your wish is my command."

"What—?"

Before Eleanore knew it, Alex swept her off her feet into a princess carry and took her to the bed. He flipped her onto her chest, then proceeded to give her a thorough back massage.

Moans filled the room, so much so that one might mistake what was going on in the room for something even more intimate.

Alex’s eyes were almost bloodshot as he prepared to take advantage of the situation for that exact intimate activity.

Unfortunately, Eleanore didn’t allow it. She quickly escaped his grasp and got off the bed.

"Let’s reschedule for later, okay? I have a meeting with some potential hires for our domain at the Artisan Tower. I can’t be late," she quickly explained.

"I will make it up to you later, okay?" She hugged him and kissed his cheeks apologetically.

"Fine," Alex said in resignation.

Eleanore laughed as she moved to get dressed.

It was then that Alex noticed a message on his private Rune ID.

"Looks like I am coming with you. I also have a meeting at the Artisan Tower," he said to Eleanore after reading the message.

"Who are you meeting?" she asked casually as she got dressed.

"Apparently, a veteran Space Mage," Alex replied.

Eleanore didn’t think much of it, and the couple helped each other get dressed.

They left Alex’s residence and walked out onto the street, where Eleanore expected a carriage to be waiting for her. Unfortunately, the carriage was nowhere in sight.

It was then that Alex remembered he had beast companions.

He cupped his head in shame, then sent a call out through his mana. A few moments later, a black, muscular horse stampeded towards them, stopping in a graceful slide just before them.

Dread flared his nostrils in annoyance. From the foreign hair on his mane, Alex deduced that the Nightmare Horse had probably been cuddling with some plum mares when he called.

Alex chuckled to himself, pretending to be oblivious to Dread’s glares.

On a whim, he reached out through his links to check up on Fen and Senu.

’Those traitors!’ Alex cursed.

It turned out the two had left his side to head to the Beast Taming Department, where they were being waited on by the researchers who were interested in their unique bloodlines.

Their interest seemed to have grown further now, with the two beast companions’ changes after inheriting the Verdantian Dragon Emperor’s power during the Anima Trials.

Alex helped Eleanore mount Dread’s back, and the couple headed for the Artisan Tower in Enclave City.

When they arrived, the couple separated while Dread rushed back to the Beast Taming Department’s stables to ’rest’.

Unbeknownst to Alex, Asta saw him arrive with Eleanore and help her down from Dread’s back.

Her heart wrenched a little, but she still forced herself to put on a lively face before walking up to him.
