Vritra and his companions arrive in a new town via a portal, immediately encountering a dangerous situation involving a robber and a corpse. The group, comprising demi-gods, quickly neutralizes the threat and retrieves a compass that guides them. They learn they are in a game-like environment and must acquire a crown. After dealing with the robber and camouflaging themselves, they head towards a building called "Night Corp" to find the crown, encountering a mysterious young girl on the way. Vritra confronts an unknown, powerful individual inside an office who claims to be a friend.

"Dracon? Who are you?" Vritra asked, looking quizzically at the man before him.

He was sure he had never seen or heard of him, and yet this guy was seated here as if he had been waiting for him.

"Vritra, you don't know me yet, so don't think too hard about it. Anyway, I was passing by, so I thought I would meet a future friend." He smiled as a crown finally appeared in his hand.

"..." Vritra couldn't understand the meaning. Was this supposed to be an anomaly?

Or a ploy by the gods? Whatever the case might be, he could tell that defeating this guy was impossible.

So, Vritra didn't initiate a fight and simply asked, "Who are you?"

"Here, this is for you." The guy threw the crown to Vritra and said, "And I am Jayden. We will meet again soon, so don't die here."

He stood up and then started walking toward the door.

"Wait, is that it?" Vritra asked. He really couldn't make sense of anything.

Was this a trap?

"Would you rather fight me? We have already done all that, so there is not really a point. Also, there is a flag in this building too."

Without turning or stopping, he spoke, then opened the door and left.

Vritra was left standing inside the room in confusion, holding the crown and feeling certain that it was the real thing.

Remembering that his family was still outside, Vritra quickly walked out, unable to trust that shady guy.

Pushing open the door, Vritra found everyone waiting there for him.

"You found it!" Maeve said, looking at the golden crown.

"Where is that guy?" Vritra asked, glancing around, but there was no sign of Jayden.

"What guy? No one appeared here," Yasmine said, looking equally confused.

"You all didn't see anyone walk out of this door?" Vritra asked in exasperation.

"No, there was no one." This time, Fiona replied.

"Pitiful one, no one can hide from my cursed eyes, but there really was no one here," Shitless added.

Sighing, Vritra knew it was pointless to think any more about this matter. Maybe he would meet Jayden again in the future.

He was so strong that he could simply pass through such games, where even gods couldn't interfere once they had started?

"Yes, I got the crown." Vritra looked back at them and didn't explain further; now the question was who was going to wear the crown.

The wearer would be in danger but would also have more privileges, so he had to be careful.

Vritra looked around, and Shitless puffed out his chest proudly.

"I am ready to take over this danger-"

But Vritra interrupted him.

"You are too careless, so not you. Hmm, wifey, you should wear it." He looked at Yasmine and extended the crown toward her.

"Okay." She didn't question or refuse and gracefully accepted the crown as Vritra placed it on her head.

Instantly, a message flashed before the eyes of all fifty participants in the game.

[The Crown Bearer has appeared!]

[The country now has a ruler, and everyone must abide by their laws!]

But before Yasmine, many more messages flashed with far more information.

Vritra had chosen her because she was a good ruler, responsible, and still had Divine's protection.

"Uh... Hubby, it seems I can set one rule for the whole country once a day," Yasmine said, then continued, "And I have a certain level of authority over the people of this country, including all players, but controlling strong people would be a bit difficult for long."

There were many details that couldn't be explained briefly, but she quickly spoke about a pressing matter.

"As the ruler, everyone can see my location. So players might swarm in soon," she said nervously.

They couldn't fight higher-level demi gods, and if a battle broke out, the commotion would be too great.

"Hmm." Vritra nodded; he had expected something like that.

It was no big problem. On top of that, Yasmine had gained a very useful ability.

"First, set a rule quickly." Vritra then explained his idea to her.

...

In and outside the town, people busy with different tasks suddenly saw a glow.

Then a tiny dot appeared in their vision, pointing toward Yasmine's direction before the messages flashed.

Except for the level 3 demi gods, everyone else was confused.

Only the level 3 demi gods hurried forward to steal the crown.

But soon they came to their own conclusions; some believed it to be a flag, while others thought it was a calamity or an anomaly.

Whoever they were, they were already heading toward that building.

[The Ruler has announced a rule!]

[Entering buildings during the day is prohibited!]

This announcement made everyone pause, especially the level 4 demi gods; those who were already inside buildings didn't dare leave.

The others decided to get close to that building and wait for nightfall.

Back inside the tall building, Yasmine looked back at Vritra after making the announcement.

"Alright, for now, we are good." Vritra nodded, but the others still had many questions.

This could save them temporarily, but as soon as night fell, a lot of people would rush in.

They couldn't go outside either, so what was he planning?

"Wifey, can you see the directions of all the players or anything else?" he asked, as Vritra had some plans, but they would have to be constantly improvised based on the current situation.

"Hmm." Yasmine glanced around, turning in a full circle.

"I can indeed sense their general directions; I think I can find them," Yasmine replied, then added, "I can also vaguely sense the general directions of the abnormalities and the flags, and one is very close."

"Alright, then let's get our hands on that flag first. We can't leave the building yet, so we will chill here for a while."

Vritra spoke and started walking toward the lower floors, the others following him, though still unsure of his plans.

"Did you catch my disease? Why are you creating such suspense?" Divine asked as he appeared beside Vritra in his bug form.

'We are different. I will explain once I have secured a flag. I don't use my family like you do,' Vritra said, flicking the insect away.

Yasmine led them while sensing the presence of the flag. Upon reaching the ground floor, she pointed downward and said, "It is somewhere down there."

"Are there more floors underground?" Shitless scratched his head and asked.

"There are." A vertical eye opened on Vritra's forehead as he looked down; he could also see something blurry.

They were in a large hall, and many people were inside.

Even normal people couldn't enter any buildings for now, and they all looked respectfully at Yasmine.

"You! Come here and tell us which path leads underground." Yasmine gestured toward a woman.

"Y-Yes, please allow me to lead you." The woman hurriedly approached and bowed before gesturing toward the back area of the hall.

There was an elevator that was barely visible, and surprisingly, there were three floors underground.

"You can go back." Yasmine dismissed her, and the ten entered, pressing the number one button.

Vritra turned to face them all and began to speak, "As long as everyone sees the mark of your crown, we won't be able to progress peacefully. Those level 5 and level 6 demi gods will definitely come after us, along with others too."

"That is true, and it is impossible to stay hidden from them," Maeve added.

"Meow." Diana hummed in agreement.

Yasmine wanted to lock all the buildings for the whole day, but it was impossible to do so at night because of the 'Flag and Hide' game's settings.

This safety wouldn't remain for long.

"Thankfully, the flag is close to us. But first, who among us is accustomed to death?" Vritra asked.

"Me!" Yennefer raised her hand. "I stayed dead for several months."

"Uhm, I almost died too, if that counts," Yasmine added.

"..." Onest's lips stretched into a thin line. What sort of question was that even?

They were talking about death as if it were just some place they had visited.

"Hmm, I too have experienced it more than once before, so, Onest, my friend." Vritra suddenly turned, placing a hand on Onest's shoulder.

"Y-Yeah?" Onest suddenly felt as though something was stuck in his throat. He wanted to take a step back, but the elevator wasn't big enough.

'Heh, hahaha, muahahaha.' Shitless grinned madly but didn't let out a single sound, fearing he might end up replacing his comrade and taking on the mission.

"Have you ever experienced death?" Vritra asked, his smile seeming strangely evil to Onest.

"No, never. I am really bad at it. If I try, I might actually die. I think someone unkillable like Shitless is better suited for it," Onest spoke hurriedly.

"You know, there is a first time for everything in life. You should really give dying a try. You can't possibly understand how fun it is. Just for the love of the game, try it."

Vritra spoke as the elevator doors opened.

They found themselves in a dark basement; it wasn't even painted and had nothing in sight.

After taking a proper look around, they pressed the button for the second floor, and Vritra continued explaining the benefits of dying.

Onest was really starting to wonder if dying was actually that fun of an experience.

"Of course, you won't actually die, just like taking a short nap and waking up right after. Isn't that perfect? You will be stronger than Shitless after this," Vritra said as the doors opened again.

GRRRRRR

Strange drilling sounds echoed loudly from all around them, and then a surprising sight came into view.
