Vritra was left entirely speechless by the response. Could this truly be a member of the Divine Kage? He had just eliminated one of their own, and yet this individual still harbored disbelief. Was this not the foremost organization, established by the gods themselves to apprehend the Divine?
"Haa," Vritra gestured towards another, causing the head of a Divine Kage member to obliterate.
BOOOOM
He then directed his attention to individual number 30, who merely shook his head. As a seasoned operative, he refused to be deceived by a mere youth.
BOOOOM
Another was eliminated, and then another. Now, only a single Divine Kage operative remained in the chamber, still exuding an air of confidence.
"Still no," he declared, shaking his head.
"Y- You are Vritra? You're the one who married my a- aunty?" Rich inquired, his voice filled with astonishment.
Vritra was a close acquaintance of his, though their paths hadn't crossed in a considerable period.
Disregarding the last remaining Divine Kage operative, Vritra turned his gaze towards Sir Giant and Shen.
"How have you both been?"
"O- Oh! V- Vritra?!! So it was you? Not Art?" Shen stammered, utterly bewildered and uncertain of how to process this revelation.
He glanced at Teresa, seeking confirmation. "Was this something you were aware of?"
"Yes, indeed I was," Teresa affirmed, her tone devoid of any discernible emotion.
"This place feels rather stifling, and the air is beginning to carry an unpleasant odor. Shall we step outside?"
With a simple snap of his fingers, all present were instantaneously transported from the confines of the palace to an open expanse.
Sakshi remained on the floor, her leg clutched tightly, her screams echoing.
"What is your designation?" Vritra began, intending to address the Divine Kage member first.
"I am number 30. You are Art Yates? I have conducted some research-" at that very moment, his arm detonated, sending searing pain throughout his body.
Yet, number 30 emitted no cry of agony, though the stark reality of the situation, far from any illusion, finally dawned upon him.
He had, in essence, permitted this 'demon' to dispatch four of his comrades? He truly was Vritra?
Number 30 abruptly rose to his feet, his eyes wide with disbelief, and recoiled. He stared at his arm, which stubbornly refused to regenerate.
"Yes. Return and inform the members of the Divine Kage that I have returned. They may seek me out," Vritra stated.
He had nearly forgotten about the exquisite fishing rod he had previously acquired from Zihong's bank vault.
'I surmise that in addition to the skill, he must also desire that fishing rod; it is truly a magnificent treasure,' he mused internally.
Initially, number 30 contemplated initiating a confrontation right then and there. However, an unseen Elegy Parasite instantaneously ascended to the back of his head.
It rapidly asserted control over his physical form.
"Yes, Master!" number 30 affirmed, bowing his head before soaring away.
Once he had departed, Vritra finally turned his attention to the individuals surrounding him, a frown creasing his brow.
"So much clamor. Could you possibly remain silent for a moment?" he murmured, his gaze fixed on the writhing Sakshi.
"Shen, aid me! T- This perpetrator, he is a fiend! We must eliminate him! Uwaaaaah! I knew he wasn't a good person!" she shrieked.
"Tess, proceed. Converse with whomever you wish," Vritra instructed, granting her the liberty to interact with her family.
He gently took Yennefer's hand and suggested a leisurely stroll.
'I must annihilate these two, for they dared to inflict humiliation upon me repeatedly! But how can I possibly achieve this?' Sakshi continued to cry out Shen's name, fully aware that he would offer no assistance.
She scanned her surroundings; Sir Giant appeared frail and clearly cherished his granddaughter, rendering him unwilling to intervene.
Rich, too, would not come to her aid. There was, in truth, no one on her side.
Jean and Tiny stood in the background, silent and attempting to become invisible; they were utterly ineffectual.
Jean was consumed by fear, recalling his earlier desire to confront Art. To think that man was Vritra!
This realization alone caused him to involuntarily wet himself as he collapsed onto his posterior, clinging to his wife, Tiny.
'I need to take action myself, but how- Oh!' Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck her as her eyes fell upon Teresa.
Who was presently engaged in conversation with Sir Giant and Rich.
She stealthily maneuvered herself closer to Teresa, and upon reaching her proximity, promptly latched onto her leg.
"Hahahahaha! I've succeeded!!" she cackled madly, convinced that Teresa was now doomed.
She anticipated siphoning off all of Teresa's misfortune, or perhaps even meeting her demise instantaneously. How marvelous was that prospect?
Henceforth, her own future would be blessed with boundless fortune, while Teresa's existence would conclude in utter misery, a fate from which even Vritra would be powerless to rescue her.
"..." Several moments elapsed, yet she perceived no alteration. After a brief pause, she cautiously glanced upward, only for her very soul to nearly abandon her body.
Teresa's obsidian eyes were fixed upon her, radiating a chilling, homicidal intent; the prior meekness had completely vanished.
'W- What is... happening? Why did it fail? Huh? What? Why?' Sakshi froze, her heart pounding erratically as if it were on the verge of rupture.
Vritra momentarily halted his progress in the distance, having detected her clandestine maneuver. Teresa was also aware, yet neither intervened.
They both wished to ascertain if Sakshi was truly depraved enough to contemplate such an act. It became apparent that this vile woman possessed no shred of shame or principle.
"You have done more than enough!" Vritra's furious voice echoed, the very sky darkening with storm clouds and splitting with fissures.
Paralyzed with terror, Sakshi shrieked, her tears flowing as she pleaded for mercy, desperately calling out to Shen, Rich, and Sir Giant.
Malice flared in Vritra's eyes as dust particles above her coalesced, forming a formidable blade.
It was undeniable; Vritra intended to end her life.
"W-Wait, don't kill her!" Shen cried out, though his words lacked the speed and power to intervene.
"Hold!" Sir Giant also called out. Despite her unpleasant nature, she was still family, a responsibility he felt compelled to uphold.
Rich considered calling out as well, as she was his mother, but he understood that Vritra was beyond dissuasion at this point.
Teresa's brow furrowed, her inner conflict stemming solely from her brother and Rich. She harbored no affection for Sakshi whatsoever.
Sakshi, sensing this, realized that only Teresa possessed the sway to halt Vritra's actions. Amidst her sobs, she began to beg.
"Uwaaaaah! P-Please, just spare me this once, I-"
BANG
However, she was granted no further opportunity to speak. The immense sword descended, cleaving her body in two.
He had previously shown her leniency despite her terrible treatment of his wife, but this time, she had irrevocably crossed a line.
"Noooooooo!!" Shen bellowed, a cry of profound agony.
Naturally, his grief wasn't truly for his wife's demise, but rather for the significant secret she had guarded.
Had it not been for that secret, he would have dispatched her himself. Furthermore, that wretch Sakshi had orchestrated matters such that her death or disappearance would automatically trigger the global dissemination of incriminating evidence.
That was the sole reason Shen had wished for Sakshi's survival.
The instant the blade struck and bisected Sakshi, Teresa was instantaneously transported to Vritra's side.
In mere moments, the light extinguished from Sakshi's eyes, leaving her staring blankly upwards.
And precisely at the moment of her death, a video materialized in the sky, prominently featuring Shen.
This spectacle was visible not only within the Ford realm but far beyond, across the globe, as a vast majority of humanity witnessed the celestial display.
