BOOOOOOM
A thunderous explosion rang out as blood blades slammed into everyone assaulting Vritra.
Even so, merely two sustained injuries, whereas the remaining three evaded or proved impervious to physical strikes.
'Tsk, the strengths of these folks vary wildly; battling a crowd like this is no joke.' Vritra mused inwardly, unleashing spiritual bursts.
Once again, it rattled just two of them, with the other three displaying partial resistance.
His hands morphed into massive blades, and Vritra flashed before the previously wounded pair, slashing fiercely.
Every one of his stats peaked at the highest level, rendering any blows landing on him far less potent.
Moreover, in his blood form, his foes struggled utterly to inflict harm on him.
CLANG
One enemy's body was sliced open by Vritra's blade-hand, as the second managed a desperate block before getting hurled away.
[You have obtained a blue crystal!]
Right before he could press the assault further, the whole maze trembled fiercely, fissures splitting the walls and even the air itself.
'Damn, it's collapsing!' Vritra abandoned the foes and sped back to his family.
True to his fears, the maze shattered mere moments later.
Revealed then was the hammer-handed man, kneeling amid the skies—he had caused the destruction.
In truth, his power extended beyond raw might; he shattered anything in his path, be it barriers or personal shields.
Thus, even Vritra could suffer severe damage from him.
Vritra halted near his kin, remaining in blood form while scanning the surroundings.
Over forty criminals lingered nearby, their faces twisted in mad glee as they stared.
Casualties among their ranks meant nothing to them; a single obsession dominated their thoughts.
To kill!
"We have played enough by your rules, now it's your turn to enter our game." The hammer creature declared in a gravelly tone.
He rose to his feet, dark liquid surging from beneath him before morphing into a bizarre new entity.
This one was blackish-green, with a jelly-like form and a build mimicking the hammer wielder.
"Trap them!" the hammer guy growled, his lips curling into a sinister grin.
GUU GUU GUU GUU
In an instant, the black-green jelly beast emitted odd sounds and fragmented, spawning endless copies resembling the hammer guy.
Now they found themselves enclosed in a vast chamber forged entirely from that jelly creature's mass.
Dim green glows alone illuminated the massive hall.
"Wifey, stay back, let me handle them. As for you all, just defend and try to find a way out." Vritra instructed calmly, as the tide had turned against them.
Even for him, clashing against such numbers—weaknesses aside—would prove challenging.
"Don't worry husband, we are going to support you as much as we can." Teresa assured him, a subtle smile hidden beneath her veil.
Vritra gave a nod, summoning hundreds of blood clones right away.
GUU GUU GUU
Suddenly, the hammer guy's duplicates leaped at the group—it was clear they lacked the original's true powers.
Vritra's clones' eyes flared with intense light, flames erupting over their forms as they activated Evomorph too.
Generating such vast clone numbers stemmed from one of Neil's powers.
Next, he enveloped his family in a protective bubble: their strikes could exit freely, but incoming assaults would be dulled.
Following that, he activated Morgan's Domain, boosting his powers in a flash.
Lastly, he deployed Morgan's puppetry skill, firing off numerous unseen threads.
He dared not underestimate them; each boasted diverse abilities and killer expertise.
CLAP
The moment those invisible threads latched onto several prisoners, Vritra sensed a threat from his rear.
He leaped aside swiftly, yet not quite quick enough.
A rapidly spinning box-shaped beast materialized behind him via teleportation.
Obviously, another had warped it there.
Its edge raked across Vritra's back, slicing past armor and defenses to gouge his flesh.
This left a gaping gash, spurtng blood briefly.
His blood form failed to block that strike entirely.
Vritra scowled, stemming the bleed while thrusting a spear that materialized in his grip.
CLAP
Danger flared once more; he vaulted away at top speed as yet another beast blinked into view ahead.
Fortune favored Vritra's quick reflexes, narrowly avoiding the odd beast's pincers.
'Who possesses teleportation here?' He scanned intently, brow furrowed deeply.
His back wound mended at a snail's pace—thanks to that space manipulator.
Vritra lunged at a squat foe, spear aimed at its face alongside a spiritual burst.
CLAP
Right at the final moment, the beast vanished abruptly, followed by a groan of agony echoing from afar.
The diminutive beast got teleported elsewhere.
Vritra halted briefly, scanning every one of them intently—over forty foes remained in the fray.
He lunged at yet another, his velocity exploding ferociously as he nearly plunged the spear into its skull.
CLAP
That noise rang out once more, whisking it away, yet not a single one among the forty-odd beasts had made the move.
'So where could it be?'
His enemies offered no respite for thought, unleashing a barrage of strikes from every angle.
Vritra couldn't counterattack at all; he merely evaded and parried, just managing to prevent them from slicing into him.
Teresa, Maeve, and the rest backed him up from behind the barrier, striving to intercept every assault before it hit him.
Vritra's blood clones clashed fiercely with the dark green duplicates spawned by the hammer wielder.
Meanwhile, the prisoners' leader—the hammer beast—lurked at the rear, watching the chaos unfold.
All of a sudden, his grin widened; he relished shattering foes psychologically before their bodies gave out.
He had discovered the ideal method to achieve it.
Having evaded yet another blow, Vritra spotted the massive figure charging swiftly, barreling directly toward the barrier.
'This is bad!' He rocketed forward at maximum pace toward the hammer beast, arms flailing frantically to fend off the onslaught.
"Kekeke, it's getting fun!" he cackled, hoisting both arms high before slamming them into the barrier.
Yet in the nick of time, an unseen enclosure encased him, immobilizing his form, while those within the barrier sighed in relief.
CLAP
BOOOOM!
Before anyone could respond, the leader materialized on the barrier's opposite side, his mighty limbs surging with power as they crashed down upon it.
The barrier trembled fiercely while fine fissures raced across its surface; Vritra had poured extra energy into reinforcing it.
Its reduced size made it stronger still, but even so, it teetered on the brink of shattering.
Vritra burned with fury at the covert fiend lurking and wielding the teleportation power.
He booted a beast aside and materialized in front of the hammer wielder, thrusting his spear at it.
CLAP
However, right then, the spear itself vanished from his grasp.
"Kek, goodbye—you're far too feeble." The hammer beast's fist hammered into Vritra's frame with colossal might, warping the very air around them.
CLAP
