Raising My Trash Ability into a Broken SSS+ Rank Skill Chapter 648 A Close Call

Previously on Raising My Trash Ability into a Broken SSS+ Rank Skill...
Shitless urgently warns Vritra that the camp itself has become a sentient monster, not a mutant, luring people to steal their sleep and dreams. Vritra encounters an impostor mimicking the monk, revealed as General Peter, who confesses the base's dark secret tied to an underground mine and pleads for help to save everyone. Leaving his family guarded, Vritra ventures into the doctor's tent, descends into the mine, and discovers energy-emitting crystals that grant him a spiritual attribute upon consumption, fueling his determination to devour them all.

CRACK CRACK

Vritra started chomping through crystal after crystal, his hands darting rapidly as he yanked them free from the wall.

System notifications continued flashing in front of his eyes.

[You have obtained 1 spiritual attribute!]

[You have obtained 1 spiritual attribute!]

[You have obtained 1 spiritual attribute!]

A refreshing chill flooded his thoughts, bringing immense relief as the earlier agony faded away bit by bit.

His defenses against the mind control surged dramatically higher.

Yet he quickly spotted an issue.

'Why can't my spiritual attribute exceed 100? Is this some kind of cap before a major upgrade or evolution?' he pondered, perhaps when the mutation hits full 100%, his body would transform radically.

Or he might require a special item to push beyond that point.

No matter the case, he'd deal with it down the line.

Right now, he focused on gobbling up more crystals; alerts still appeared, but his spiritual attribute refused to rise further.

Thanks to the abundance of these gems, his spiritual energy would skyrocket, even if much of it remained sealed away temporarily.

CRUNCH CRUNCH

Nothing shifted for some time, until the base's core awareness finally detected the disturbance.

'Munching like this is way too sluggish!' Vritra thought as he kept consuming while hastily stashing the stones in his inventory.

The veins shuddered, with numerous ones withering and collapsing, as the rest quaked fiercely.

KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEE

A horrifying wail echoed from beyond the walls, sounding just like a specter from a nightmare flick.

"Oh, it's finally spotted me," Vritra muttered, showing no concern as he pressed on with his work.

Suddenly, a fierce psychic assault slammed into him, nearly knocking him flat.

Clenching his jaw, he fired back with a spiritual burst, boosting his pace.

He'd already cleared out half the crystals and persisted in unleashing spiritual bursts to counter the savage mental barrages.

THUD THUD

A bunch of shapes leaped swiftly into the subterranean chamber, led by the doctor up front.

They howled like deranged mutants, lunging straight at Vritra.

'Heh, how could they match my raw power? Not a single one boasts stats as boosted as mine.' Vritra eyed the group and eased up.

His overall abilities had leaped ahead since arriving here, thanks to the military base supplying endless mutants for him to eliminate.

The base had only meant to toughen its victims, but Vritra reaped the biggest rewards.

He went on extracting crystals while blasting blood bullets to hurl them back; they dropped out cold right away.

After swallowing heaps of crystals, he sensed they'd lost their potency, no longer able to elevate his power.

Thus, he stored the leftovers in his space—Yasmine and the rest could make good use of them.

"STOPPPPPP!!" the two-headed doctor shrieked in frenzy, embodying the mine's very essence after all.

Vritra was essentially draining its core vitality, leaving its might crumbling fast.

[Spiritual Burst!]

[Spiritual Burst!]

[Spiritual Burst!]

Vritra unleashed wave after wave of psychic strikes, rendering the doctor utterly immobilized.

"Haa, finally finished..." Vritra swabbed the perspiration from his brow before pivoting around.

The veins began decaying rapidly; without those crystals, this entity couldn't survive much longer.

It understood that losing the crystals spelled its doom, which drove its frantic hunt for healers or fresh victims.

"So, what exactly did you want to discuss, doc?" Vritra spun to face the toppled mutant.

Both heads lacked their upper sections, leaving only the lower jaws twisted in grotesque agony.

"How did you?!! Since when... You knew...?" It clearly brimmed with queries.

To date, no human had resisted its sway or pierced its deceptions; they endlessly cycled through the daily grind.

Surrendering their rest and visions to it, which slashed the drain on these crystals and prolonged its existence.

"Well, thanks for the stay, but I won't linger too long. Savor your brief, doomed days." Vritra remarked as he began striding off.

"AHHHHHH" The doctor bellowed and struck from the rear. With him gone, it could reclaim every crystal.

But mere steps in, its heads burst apart, and the form slumped lifelessly.

Vritra dashed back to his tent, finding Shitless still posted outside.

"Pitiful one, how did things turn out?" he inquired urgently.

"We'll pull through now; that abomination will perish shortly." Even as he spoke, he hammered the base's mind with psychic assaults to wear it down.

{Sin Point Gained: Killed a Mutant +3,002}

Soon enough, it perished for good, and the radiant heavens reappeared overhead.

Vritra hardly spared the notification a look amid his rush, missing one entirely by mistake.

"Whoa, such a haul of points? It was insanely strong; without snapping out of it, we could've all perished here for real." Vritra let out a deep sigh—this horror had been utterly nightmarish.

Fortunately, everyone pulled through, and he'd scored a massive windfall.

"Grab some shut-eye; we'll head out from here shortly." Vritra instructed with a weary exhale, unsure how often he'd uttered those words.

Still, they'd lingered almost two full weeks.

Then he slipped back into the tent, where all the formerly enthralled folks lay knocked out.

Vanessa, Yasmine, Fiona, Diana, Yennefer, Maeve, and Teresa remained deep in slumber.

Vritra still felt drained; sleepless for two weeks, he collapsed onto the bedding and quickly nodded off.

***

Nearly twelve hours later, Vritra roused from rest as he sensed stirring nearby.

He blinked awake to find his wives just coming to, appearing totally recovered.

"Hubby, what went down?" Yasmine rubbed her forehead.

"Master, this spot... it's cursed!!" Maeve recalled it all at last; that chain had snapped her free of the hold repeatedly.

Though she lacked the might to resist fully.

"All's good now, no need to fret." Vritra assured them, propping himself up to recount the ordeal.

Their expressions grew ashen the more they heard, dread settling in as they realized how perilously close they'd come to the end.

"Honey, we gotta bail from this damned hole right away—what if it's another trick? What if that monster lingers?" Vanessa urged.

"It's okay, Mom; I've verified it's truly gone. We'll depart soon, but first, we'll snag something key from the general." Vritra grinned.

Maeve's pulse nearly halted at those words—Vritra had droned that phrase for over ten days straight.

"M... Master, didn't you already... are you still ensnared by it?" Maeve ventured, the group stiffening in shock.

Vritra erupted in laughter at their faces; pranking them like this proved endlessly amusing.

"Hubby, quit frightening us that way." Yasmine thumped her bosom.

"Husband, that's no fair. I'll make you pay for it soon." Yennefer huffed with pursed lips.

"Oh yeah, I've got a treat for you ladies." Vritra announced, pulling out the crystals to pass to his wives.

He saved portions for Shitless and Onest as well; even so, plenty remained to boost everyone's spiritual force to elite heights.

"Simply consume them." He urged, as his wives eyed him oddly—could their man still be gripped by the influence?
