As a supernatural cold front signals the approach of mysterious trials, Vritra secures a dangerous seed capable of total destruction. After mobilizing his wives to hunt down the hero Jack and strengthen their realms, Vritra escorts Fiona back to the Phoenix Kingdom to reassert her authority. While Fiona gathers her subjects, Vritra is confronted by a group of opportunists in the city streets who falsely brand him a thief and a trespasser to the local guards.

"Look here, we've apprehended a thief trespassing in our kingdom. This man might be a spy or even a demon!" shouted one of the three men, smugly satisfied with cornering such a wealthy target.

Since the stranger had purchased those expensive candies without blinking, they imagined his pockets must be overflowing with gold and treasures.

It was obvious to them that he didn't belong to the phoenix race, making him the perfect victim for extortion.

As if on cue, four guards emerged from a nearby corner and rushed toward him.

With a quick scan, Vritra realized that only one was a legitimate guard; the other three were merely playing a part.

"Take him into custody! I suspect him of committing terrible crimes," another man from the trio declared.

"You have some nerve acting so bold in our kingdom; you're basically begging for death. Hand over your stolen loot immediately, or would you rather rot in a freezing prison cell?" the guard threatened.

Vritra shifted his gaze to the shopkeeper and questioned, "And what is your take on this situation?"

"Me...?" The shopkeeper paused, momentarily stunned. He had provided the signal, but he hadn't expected to be addressed directly.

"Y-Yes, I witnessed your theft. You should cooperate with these guards and return the gold you stole," the shopkeeper stammered.

"Sigh, very well. How much am I supposed to have stolen? I'll pay it back," Vritra remarked, letting out a weary breath.

"H-He stole a hundred—no, a thousand gold coins!!" the group of three shouted greedily.

"Is that the case? Then produce all one thousand coins this instant," the fraudulent guard commanded.

"Fine, fine, it's only a thousand. I have plenty more," Vritra replied. With a simple flick of his wrist, a massive pile of gold coins materialized.

The sight of at least a hundred thousand gold coins left everyone present speechless.

'D-Damn, I should have demanded a higher price.' They swallowed hard, but when the gold vanished as quickly as it appeared, they realized a thousand coins was a pathetic sum compared to his actual wealth.

"A-All of that must be stolen property! Guards, seize everything and kick him out!!" the trio screamed.

"Is that so? You think you can just throw him out? Do you truly believe you belong here more than he does?" a woman's voice echoed from nearby.

"Of course! Get lost if you don't want to be thrown in pri—" one of the fake guards began arrogantly, turning toward the speaker.

The words died in his throat as all eight men froze, paralyzed by the sight of the terrifying Empress standing before them.

'W-Wasn't she away? When did she come back?' Their limbs began to tremble uncontrollably. Had they known of her return, they never would have attempted such a scheme.

"Haa, Fiona, could you spare a few gold coins? I supposedly need to return these stolen goods," Vritra said, crossing his arms and settling in to watch the drama unfold.

"!!!" The eight men gasped in horror. He actually dared to address the Empress by her first name?

They felt a twisted sense of relief, assuming that even if they were punished, he would surely be executed for such insolence.

"Darling, don't worry about it. Let me handle the payment for you," Fiona replied, her face lit with a smile.

The world seemed to spin for the onlookers.

Darling? DARLING?!! Wasn't this just some random human outsider?

They felt as though they were melting with dread, wishing they could vanish as the realization of their fate set in.

Fiona then turned her cold gaze toward them. "Do you honestly believe you have more right to be in this kingdom than the Emperor himself?"

She signaled to a nearby minister and asked, "What is the designated penalty for showing such disrespect to my husband, the Emperor?"

"T-They must be tortured until they die!!" the minister blurted out. To him, she seemed even more frightening than usual.

He wondered what kind of man could possibly manage such a volatile woman, whose mind was usually occupied by thoughts of carnage.

"Excellent. Use them as an example. Furthermore, how is it that such crimes are being committed so brazenly?" Fiona demanded. Vritra watched her, thinking her stern demeanor was quite charming.

"M-My apologies, Empress. I was negligent," the minister replied, knowing that making excuses would only lead to his own demise.

He then ordered the eight men—the shopkeeper, the trio, and the four imposters—to be hauled away.

"W-Wait! We're sorry! Please have mercy! We were wrong..."

Their desperate pleas faded as they were dragged off, but Vritra remained unmoved.

It had been a long time since the deaths of strangers had any impact on him, with his family being the only exception.

After finishing her orders, Fiona took Vritra’s hand and asked, "Darling, shall we head out?"

"Yeah," Vritra agreed, and the two took flight toward the south, seeking a place where the air was slightly warmer.

...

Before long, the couple settled on a mountain peak. Fiona sat sideways on his lap, leaning her head against his chest.

They watched the sky together, where a pale sun struggled to shine through the gentle snow.

It was a breathtaking view, and they found peace in each other's company.

Both were tucked inside Vritra's large coat, his arms securely circling her slender waist.

"Darling..." Fiona whispered, her heart full of contentment.

"Hmm," Vritra responded, looking down at her striking features, his eyes lingering on her lips.

"I've come up with many more roleplays. I want to try them all with you," she said with a deceptively innocent grin.

Vritra laughed softly. Her suggestions were always quite unconventional. Stroking her leg, he asked, "My little demon, where do you get these ideas? I used to think you were so sheltered."

Fiona had always possessed a deep curiosity for such things and found great joy in them.

"I just want to experience everything with you," Fiona whispered. She leaned up, pressing her soft lips against his in a tender kiss.

Vritra gave her lower lip a playful bite, tugging slightly before releasing it.

"Mmm~" Fiona gazed at him before turning back to the horizon. She couldn't imagine anything better than sitting with her husband in such a scenic spot.

However, a thought suddenly crossed her mind.

"Wait, Teresa had such a beautiful wedding ceremony, but what about us? Do you love me less than her?" Fiona asked, her lip trembling in a pout.

Vritra pinched her cheek affectionately and replied, "You're right, that's my mistake. Things have just been moving too fast. Once Yenni returns, we'll throw the most magnificent wedding and I'll marry all my beautiful wives at once. How does that sound?"

If she had wanted her own separate ceremony, he would have obliged.

Had their lives not been so chaotic, he would have married them all a long time ago.

Their bond was already absolute, so he hadn't prioritized the ritual, but he realized now how much it meant to her.

"I'd like that very much. Thank you, darling," Fiona said, kissing him again.

They lingered there, talking and taking in the view, before finally departing for a new location.

Fiona was clearly excited to test out another one of her strange fantasies, leaving Vritra to wonder how he would manage to keep a straight face afterward.

But as they say, a happy wife means a happy life, so Vritra resigned himself to indulging her playful whims.
