The dark manor was incredibly vast, containing enumerable chambers and adorned with priceless gemstones.
As a move-in ready residence, its perfection was so absolute that no alterations were required.
Vritra maintained the structure at a relatively modest scale for the time being, yet it remained grand and opulent, featuring black flames that flickered across every wall.
Furthermore, the estate was patrolled by thousands of knights clad in heavy armor.
The group spent time investigating the premises, discovering a wide array of defensive systems and offensive traps; there was truly much to explore.
His wives intended to advance their Cultivation levels here as well, and by utilizing Null, the duration of their training would be significantly reduced.
He temporarily entrusted the energy core to Yasmine, as he needed to wait for Yennefer’s soul to be liberated from the pill.
Afterward, they utilized the portals located within their private quarters to travel to various kingdoms.
Fiona was required to depart this time to oversee the Phoenix Kingdom, while Yasmine chose to stay by the side of Vritra and Teresa.
She held little concern for the dragons now; any remaining attachment had vanished following their recent betrayals.
They had turned their backs on her in the past, and they had done so once again.
Convinced they could manage without her, she preferred to devote her time to her husband.
Vritra assigned powerful guards and soul wraiths to accompany each of his wives, determined to prevent a repeat of the incident that had befallen Yasmine.
Eventually, he stepped through the door in his own bedroom, which led straight into the heart of the Yate realm.
The conditions within this isolated dimension were identical to the outside world.
Snow blanketed the earth and spores saturated the atmosphere; Vritra suspected these spores were capable of fundamentally altering the environment.
"I trust neither of you are bothered by the cold?" Vritra asked, glancing at Teresa and Yasmine as they trekked through the deep snow.
"Not at all, this level of chill is manageable," Yasmine replied with a shrug, her affinity for fire making her particularly resistant to the temperature.
"Husband, would you mind lending me that ring for a while? I want to upgrade its design and craft matching ones for everyone else," Teresa requested. With the creation cubes now in her possession, her crafting abilities were more potent than ever.
"Of course." Vritra slid the ring from his finger and passed it to her.
When they reached the palace exterior, they noticed a complete absence of sentries.
'If this freezing weather was engineered by someone, they could easily dismantle all the major Sects and organizations,' Vritra mused. The Grant and Trant families had only survived by being integrated into the Ford family.
Upon reaching Gunter’s quarters, Vritra gave a firm knock.
"Who goes there?" a voice called out. Inside, everyone was huddled under stacks of blankets to ward off the freezing weather.
"It is I," Vritra answered. The door swung open almost instantly.
Gunter and Ava stood there, their faces lighting up with shock and pure joy at the sight of him and Teresa.
"Art!! Where on earth have you been? We were sick with worry, searching everywhere for you..."
Ava lunged forward to embrace him, her eyes shimmering with tears.
The couple was visibly moved by his return, and Vritra offered a fabricated explanation; it didn't truly matter, as they were simply relieved he was safe.
"You must stay here where it's safe now; do not go wandering off. It has become far too dangerous outside," Gunter warned.
"Is it because of the snow or these spores? I can handle it—" Vritra began, knowing such things couldn't harm him, but Gunter cut him off.
"It's more than that. Rumors are circulating that something far more malevolent dwells in the north, and this unnatural cold might be emanating from it."
"Interesting. Do you have any further details?" Vritra inquired, his curiosity piqued.
As Vritra consulted with Gunter, Ava spoke with Yasmine and Teresa, relieved that her daughter-in-law was unharmed.
She did, however, wonder why the Dragon Empress was accompanying them.
If these environmental shifts were tied to the trial, did it mean the climax was approaching?
Was the Hero on the verge of slaying a Demon Lord? Was Jack nearing the Lord rank?
'I must locate Jack immediately. The destiny of this world cannot be left in his grasp,' Vritra thought, focused on his goal to usurp the Hero's fate.
"I don't know much else, only that those who venture north never come back. We should wait and see if the situation improves.
Perhaps it's just an ancient beast that will soon return to its sleep?" Gunter suggested, his voice heavy with anxiety.
"I understand. I'll stay vigilant."
They conversed for a while longer before sharing a warm meal together.

In a remote corner of the Quartz Continent, a portal spat out three figures, their bodies battered and bloodied.
"Sob... Shorty, your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thank you for allowing us to escape. We’d be finished without you," Jack lamented, rubbing his eyes as the gateway began to collapse.
"You treacherous bastard! I'll kill you! You bald piece of trash, you're going to suffer for this! You manipulative snake, you fake hero, you disgusting..."
Shorty’s furious vitriol echoed from the other side as grotesque tentacles pulled him back into the abyss.
With no way out, Jack had used Shorty as a human shield, shoving him toward the monsters to secure his own retreat.
"Yes, I know how much you care for me. You will live on in my memory," Jack said mournfully, watching the portal vanish while the curses continued to ring out.
"W-will he survive? Shouldn't we try to help him?" Raino asked, his frame looking gaunt.
The girl beside them resembled a living corpse, her skin ashen because Jack forced her to exhaust her abilities repeatedly.
At this rate, she wouldn't last much longer either.
"It was his decision. We must honor his courage; he gave his life for the sake of humanity. I swear, once the Demon Lord is dead, the world will know your name alongside mine," Jack vowed, though he kept his fingers crossed behind his back.
The portal finally sealed shut, swallowing Shorty into the darkness. A final, horrific scream echoed just before the rift vanished.
"Haa, I'm nearly at the Lord rank. I need to power up quickly, slay the Demon Lord, and rescue the world—ugh, why is it so damn cold here?" He stood up, rubbing his smooth scalp.
Ever since that bald bastard had scorched his hair off, not a single strand had grown back.
'This bald lunatic has lost his mind chasing fame and women. I need to get away before he makes a martyr out of me too,' Raino thought, casting a pitying look at the zombie-like girl.

Back in his room, Vritra sat while Yasmine and Teresa chatted nearby.
The revelation that they were sisters had been a shock to both of them.
However, given Yasmine’s personality, their connection had only strengthened; they seemed to genuinely enjoy each other's presence.
Teresa was delighted to discover a sister who felt more like a soulmate.
"Husband, I’m going to start working on those rings now. It’s going to take some time," Teresa informed him, heading to her specialized workshop within the house of darkness.
The room had been tailored specifically for her crafting needs.
The moment Teresa departed, Yasmine turned to Vritra with a suggestive glint in her eyes. "Hubby, now that we're alone... it's been quite a while since we had some private time. Why don't we..."
