Drino retrieved a formidable weapon from his inventory, but before he could activate it, a length of cloth snared his arms. Immediately, crimson flames erupted around his wrists, forcing the demi god to release his grip instinctively.
A massive palm then plummeted from the heavens, crushing Drino into the earth, while Vritra directed Goop to consume yet another weapon. Moving with a flash, Vritra intercepted a strike intended for Vanessa, his own body being sent flying by the impact.
Every time Drino attempted a major technique, the four of them intercepted him. Their synchronized assault left no room for error. Although Drino showed no signs of fatigue or injury, the group was barely managing to hold their ground.
“Darling, do you have a plan?” Fiona asked after reverting to her human form. By this point, Drino was completely engulfed in blood-red fire. Under the relentless heat, his scales were beginning to fracture and boil.
“...The Radioactive fist, though it’s a single-use move. I need more time to charge it. If that fails, we’ll just have to keep him occupied,” Vritra answered. He could see his wives were reaching their limits; utilizing those treasures was draining their strength rapidly.
“Understood, let’s keep going.” Fiona nodded, her form dissolving back into crimson flames. Even the soul wraiths joined the fray, throwing themselves at the enemy without a hint of fear.
Drino, a level 3 demi god, was seething with fury at his inability to kill a newly ascended demi god and a handful of lords. Furthermore, several of his prized weapons had been devoured by that loathsome man.
ROOAAARRRRRR
Suddenly, Drino’s form underwent a violent transformation. Before Vritra could even track his movement, a devastating blow slammed into his chest. BOOOOOM! Vritra was propelled dozens of kilometers away, yet he managed to teleport back mid-flight, reappearing to protect Diana.
“You are going to die now!!” Drino roared, his very domain beginning to warp. His scales hummed and radiated a blinding light. Vritra realized that even their combined strength was no longer enough to halt this monster.
Just as Drino prepared to strike, Vritra quickly ushered the three women into the divine realm and assumed a defensive stance. “Why are your strikes getting weaker? Was all that boasting just talk?” Vritra taunted, though the provocation was unnecessary given Drino’s existing rage.
Kicking off the air, Drino closed the distance instantly. The tide of battle shifted once more. Vritra crossed his arms to block, but the force of Drino’s fist shattered both his arms before impacting his chest.
‘How much longer can this bastard keep this up? These useless planetary rules—the gods must be stalling,’ Vritra cursed to himself. He currently lacked the means to slay such a powerful entity. Even a fully charged attack might only wound Drino rather than kill him.
‘What options do I have left?’ Vritra scrambled for a solution as he was pummeled from every direction. His wives had provided significant support, but the power gap was now too wide. A single mistake would result in their deaths.
WHOOOSH
Drino’s tail impaled Vritra’s chest, pinning him to the ground. The demi god then drew a plain-looking weapon and began a relentless assault. Each strike sent powerful shockwaves through the atmosphere. Goop and Atomic struggled to mitigate the damage, but they were failing under Drino's wrath. Within a minute, the blows landed directly on Vritra’s flesh, carving deep wounds.
Vritra tried to dislodge the tail using Shift and Forbidden, but he remained trapped. His strength was waning within the domain while Drino only seemed to grow more powerful. ‘Should I release it now?’ Vritra hesitated, deciding to let the radioactive fist charge longer while his body still held together.
“Die! Die! You pathetic insect, how dare you defy me!! Once you are gone, I will slaughter those women and claim all your treasures!!” Drino screamed, his attacks growing more lethal by the second.
Vritra’s regenerative abilities began to fail. However, he suddenly sensed a disturbance in the space of the divine realm. Someone had exited without his intervention, and a figure appeared in the sky above.
“H—Husband!!” Teresa cried out, horrified by the sight of Vritra near death. Her body shook with instinctive fear. Having just found love and begun her life with him, she could not bear to see him harmed.
Teresa threw an invisible object from her inventory into the air. Drino paused, looking back at the newcomer. ‘How many women does this man have?’ he wondered. Since she was veiled, he couldn't discern her features. ‘Strange. Even my perception cannot see through her.’
As Drino pondered this, a tiny speck landed softly on his nose. Then... CRACK.
The small dot fractured, and the space before Drino shattered like a broken mirror. Before he could react, the void swallowed his body, sealing him within a fractured dimension.
Vritra finally caught his breath, moving away as his wounds began to close once more. “Husband, are you alright?” Teresa asked, her expression pained as she hugged him, her own clothes becoming stained with his blood. She pointed a ring at him, and his injuries began to heal instantly.
“I’m fine,” Vritra said, touching her cheek. He realized he had once again been saved by his wives and vowed to never underestimate them again. He was curious how she had bypassed his control over the divine realm, but that was a question for later.
“Husband, it is almost impossible to kill him right now, but I have a way to expel him from this planet for the time being,” Teresa said, watching the demi god struggle to escape the mirror space. Vritra smiled; perhaps this ordeal had been worth it to see the change in her heart. She no longer seemed afraid to fight.
Teresa quickly explained her strategy, and Vritra refined it. “Alright, let’s do it. Tess, stay sharp,” Vritra said, turning back toward Drino.
The demi god finally smashed through the mirror dimension, glaring suspiciously at the woman standing behind Vritra. ‘It can’t be her... can it? Who else could craft such items? Or did someone else make them for her?’ Drino wondered. If this truly was Divine’s second sister, his path to success had just become much easier.
