Vritra encountered Sakshi, Teresa's sister-in-law, who was rude and demanding. After a brief altercation, Vritra slapped Sakshi, causing her significant injury and drawing the attention of guards and other family members, including Shen, Sakshi's husband. Sakshi accused Vritra of assault, while Vritra remained calm, anticipating the arrival of others.

Having already struck his wife, he was well aware of how ill-mannered and spiteful she could be. He addressed her calmly:

"I will deal with his punishment later. For now, why don't you go and have your injuries treated?"

"NO! Punishment must be dealt right now! Look at the state he left me in. What will the public think if they find out about this? Just kill this bastard; we can easily find a replacement husband for that bli— cough, Teresa," she demanded.

"Sigh. All of you are dismissed. This is merely a minor dispute," Sir Giant commanded the guards, signaling them to leave.

"Nobody leaves! Everyone needs to witness the consequences of attacking the monarch's wife within her own home. Shen, why are you stalling? He is nothing but a stranger," Sakshi fumed. She had expected Vritra to be thrashed the moment help arrived, yet she found herself standing alone.

"Fine, spare his life, but let me strike him back so we are even," she negotiated, hoping for at least that much.

"Forget it. He is a guest in our home. How would it look if my grandson-in-law were assaulted on our own soil?" Sir Giant shook his head. He suspected her tongue was responsible for the conflict.

However, knowing Sakshi’s nature, she was unlikely to let the insult slide.

"Ugh! What about my dignity? Are you really doing nothing? At the very least, force him to apologize..." the slender woman’s rage intensified. Never before had her family treated her with such indifference.

"Mother, please just go. I am certain you must have insulted Aunty again. Guards, escort my mother to her quarters gently and find someone to seal her mout— I mean, heal her," Rich interjected, signaling the men.

Both Rich and Teresa were the pillars behind the family’s massive success. Rich was a financial prodigy, possessing personal wealth that eclipsed the combined assets of the other four families. Meanwhile, Teresa had provided support through her vast collection of treasures.

Though Rich rarely meddled in domestic politics, he found his mother’s conduct intolerable.

"Rich!! How dare you speak to your mother like that? Regardless of anything else, he laid hands on me! Doesn't he owe me an apology?" Sakshi screamed.

"Enough! Leave at once," Shen roared. Since Vritra had slapped him as well, he found himself in a position where he could hardly complain.

"B-But..." Sakshi started to protest, but seeing no allies, she played her final card.

"Shen, if you don't force an apology out of him this instant, then..." She shot him a pointed look, silently reminding him of a hidden leverage.

"Ugh." Shen winced. Sir Giant and Rich turned their backs and departed, leaving Shen to settle the mess.

The monarch of the Ford family stood in silence, paralyzed by the difficult choice before him.

"Um, B-Brother-in-law, would you mind offering her a quick apology?" he requested tentatively.

"No. Stop wasting my time and drag this bitch away. Haa, I feel like my eyes have been contaminated just by looking at her. I need to go see Tess to recover," Vritra remarked.

She was easily the most grating woman he had ever encountered. She had officially earned a spot on his list of enemies, right alongside names like Oracle.

The longer he stared at her, the more his irritation grew.

With a mere thought, he shattered the bones near her knee. Her leg buckled backward, sending her crashing to the floor.

Her face slammed hard against the ground. If her nose hadn't been broken before, it certainly was now.

"Uwaaaaah." Vritra watched the display for a few seconds before the guards finally hauled her away.

"I— I apologize on her behalf—" Shen began, but Vritra waved him off dismissively.

"Get lost. I have no interest in your family's drama." He retreated into the room, slamming the door shut.

'Sigh... wasn't he supposed to be timid? And how did her leg just break like that? He didn't move an inch or use any Mana,' Shen puzzled as he walked off, ordering the area to be cleaned.

Inside, Teresa was still standing nervously. Knowing Sakshi's cruel streak, she had been terrified for Vritra's safety. However, the outcome of the confrontation left her stunned.

Vritra walked over to her.

"Has she always behaved that way?" he inquired, bypassing the more obvious questions.

"...Yes. My brother was forced to marry her because her father helped us in the past. Grandpa gave his word to her father to repay the debt," Teresa explained, beginning to relax.

Engaging in such a normal conversation felt strange to her. Usually, she and her family had to be extremely cautious to avoid any friction.

"Oh? Don't tell me she forced you to absorb her bad luck?" Vritra asked with dramatic emphasis.

"No, she didn't. My brother and Grandpa always prevented that; she was never permitted to enter my room," Teresa added.

"That’s a relief. So she only tormented you with insults, curses, and indirect harm?" Vritra probed casually, knowing exactly how to lead her toward the truth.

Ordinarily, the kind-hearted Teresa might have kept quiet to avoid causing trouble for others.

"Yeah..." she nodded, not realizing the weight of her admission.

'So that bitch really did make Tess suffer. I’ll make her life a waking nightmare,' he vowed internally.

"I understand. Go take a bath; we'll be departing shortly," Vritra said, gently patting her head.

Teresa nodded obediently and left.

A short while later, Vritra, Gunter, Ava, and Rich were gathered in the dining hall. Food was served, and the group ate in hushed silence. Sakshi was present as well, her head and leg already restored by healing.

Teresa remained in her quarters, as it was deemed too risky for her to appear in public.

"I apologize for our failings and any disrespect shown. Now that our families are joined, we will stand by you should you face any future troubles," Shen stated calmly once the meal concluded.

"Haha. Naturally, mutual support is expected. I appreciate the hospitality," Gunter replied. He had been bitter about his son being pressured into the union, but seeing that Vritra actually liked the girl eased his guilt.

Still, given her true identity, this union was bound to be chaotic. Now that her secret was out, she would be a target for kidnapping or assassination. Furthermore, would the Ford family truly let her walk away?

"Brother-in-law, you are welcome to stay here from no—" Shen started to say, but Vritra, who was idly poking his plate with a fork, "accidentally" applied too much pressure.

The fork slipped from his grip, flying across the table and landing directly inside Sakshi’s mouth just as she opened it to take a large bite.

COUGH!

The tines sank into her throat, severing her uvula.

She sat frozen, mouth agape and eyes bulging in shock as a wave of agonizing pain hit her. Blood sprayed as she choked and began to convulse violently.

"Oops, my bad," Vritra remarked nonchalantly, as if he had merely dropped a spoon.

The room fell into a stunned silence for several heartbeats as the woman continued to spasm. Finally, the attendants snapped out of their shock and rushed her away for emergency care.
