Little Junior Sister, muted by poison from tainted fish meat, scorned Senior Sister Jun's failure to cure her and turned desperately to Second Senior Brother for help. They prepared to rush to the Saintess Sect's territory for a skilled alchemist. Meanwhile, An Jiuyue provided masks against the foul stench as her group entered the ravaged Cloud-Touching Forest, where Bai Yan warned of intensifying devastation deeper within from fleeing demonic beasts.

After hearing those words, An Jiuyue felt an urge to draw in a deep breath, but aware of the surroundings, she held back from that stupid action. Instead, she chose to hold her breath.

"Brother, did it look like this when you came here a few days back?"

Hong Tianxu gazed at the sights in front of him. Even though he wore a mask and couldn't detect the sickening smell, he could easily picture it in his mind.

Besides, while passing those strewn bodies, small flying bugs from the corpses buzzed toward them, sending chills down his spine.

Without wrapping his body in his limited Original Soul energy, he'd probably end up swarmed by those tiny insects.

"A few days ago, it was much better—no smell had started yet," Bai Yan replied.

Still, this spot is somewhat decent compared to elsewhere; Fan City faces the direst mess, with demonic beast corpses stacked like towering hills.

Regrettably, relentless demonic beast assaults have left no chance to incinerate those bodies. The stench must be utterly intolerable for people.

"Tsk, what a stench."

An Jiuyue tutted softly, her pregnancy heightening her sensitivity to smells.

Even with three layers of masks on, that reek pierced through clearly, making it extremely hard for her to get used to it.

Noticing her discomfort, Qian Jiyun swiftly deployed his spatial ability to shield her, letting her inhale the fresh space air and escape the forest's foul odor.

"No need for all this effort."

An Jiuyue eyed the chaos surrounding them and commented.

"It's okay, let's keep moving ahead."

Qian Jiyun kept walking alongside her. He was positive the Evil Dragon lurked in the Cloud-Touching Forest, having already detected its aura.

"Does the Cloud-Touching Forest have any lakes?" he inquired.

"Yes."

Bai Yan quickly responded to his query.

"The Cloud-Touching Forest spans a vast area, bigger even than White Lion City. It holds numerous lakes of all sizes, though the largest sits right in the forest's heart—named Cloud Berth—and rumors say it teems with diverse demonic beasts.

That said, things have changed. Now that hordes of beasts assault Fan City, Cloud Berth likely has far fewer left."

At those words, An Jiuyue's brows furrowed a bit.

"Can beasts from the lake endure long stays on land?" she questioned.

Bai Yan: "..."

What was the right way to reply to that?

"Not exactly—Cloud Berth hosts plenty of Land Demon Beasts and Water Demon Beasts. Water ones can manage on land briefly, based on their cultivation level.

From our intel, Water Demon Beasts can last up to a month on land without water."

"That's quite a while, isn't it?"

An Jiuyue shot a look at Qian Jiyun.

It explained how they managed to strike Fan City. That duration let them overwhelm it with ease.

"Water Demon Beasts wouldn't abandon Cloud Berth. Fan City lacks lakes rivaling Cloud Berth's size, so departing makes no sense."

Bai Yan chimed in.

"Not always the case." An Jiuyue countered.

No beast eagerly forsakes its familiar home. But under the Evil Dragon's coercion, it's entirely possible.

"I can't figure out why the Evil Dragon orders beasts to assault Fan City. Does it plan to seize the city and build its empire? After all, it's just a demonic beast, not a Beastman."

She mused out loud.
