As demonic beasts swarm the area, the Fifth Senior Brother desperately tries to protect the Little Junior Sister. Despite his efforts, he discovers her selfish nature when she uses him as a human shield against an oncoming attack. Matters worsen when the Little Junior Sister persists in screaming, drawing more beasts toward them despite his repeated warnings. Observations from onlookers highlight the absurdity of his blind loyalty to someone who shows such little regard for his safety.

"Ah!"

The Fifth Senior Brother truly found himself at a loss for words.

Deep down, regret was already beginning to take root. Why on earth had he volunteered to shield the Little Junior Sister when those demonic beasts first appeared?

Had he simply left the Little Junior Sister for the Second Senior Brother to manage, while he took responsibility for the other two junior sisters, he certainly wouldn't be the one being hunted down by beasts right now.

"Wow, is this woman working for the demonic beasts?"

Qian Yinuo’s eyes shimmered with amusement as she observed the frantic figures racing across the ground; it was quite the spectacle.

The Little Junior Sister was continuously shrieking while being pursued, her shrill cries drawing away nearly half of the beasts, while the remainder gave chase to the Second Senior Brother.

This was all because the Second Senior Brother had permitted the Little Junior Sister to douse them in Beast-Attracting Powder earlier. Consequently, the Second Senior Brother was now covered in the very powder that drew the beasts toward him.

As for the other two sisters, they had managed to find a safe hiding spot and were staying out of sight.

"Truly, you reap what you sow."

Qian Yizheng kept a close watch on the shifting positions of both the monsters and their targets, feeling a sense of satisfaction as he witnessed their desperate, sorry state.

"Ah, help, Second Senior Brother!"

When the Ninth Senior Brother and Little Jun arrived, they heard the Little Junior Sister cowering behind the Fifth Senior Brother, yet still wailing for the Second Senior Brother to rescue her.

The two of them exchanged looks: "..."

Wasn't it the Fifth Senior Brother who was clearly in need of salvation?

They watched as the Little Junior Sister gripped the hem of the Fifth Senior Brother's robes with such desperation that he could barely retreat, all while several demonic beasts lunged toward him.

"Watch out!"

The Ninth Senior Brother made a swift decision and charged forward with his blade drawn.

However, he had no intention of playing the martyr to block the beasts. Instead, he swung his sword in a precise arc, slicing clean through the fabric the Little Junior Sister was clutching.

With the garment severed, the Little Junior Sister lost her balance and toppled backward. Finally unencumbered, the Fifth Senior Brother turned to fend off the charging beasts.

He let out an audible sigh of relief, knowing full well that if she hadn’t released her grip, they both would have been trampled underfoot.

The Little Junior Sister sat on the ground, momentarily bewildered.

She gazed at the scrap of cloth remaining in her hand, then looked up at the Fifth Senior Brother, who was now locked in battle, still trying to process how her clothes had been cut and how she had ended up on the dirt.

It took her a long moment to realize she had been outmaneuvered by someone standing just nearby.

"Ninth Senior Brother, how could you do this?"

"What did I do?"

The Ninth Senior Brother replied coldly, his attention remaining fixed on the Fifth Senior Brother’s struggle against the beasts.

"You..."

The Little Junior Sister stammered, feeling utterly aggrieved.

She knew perfectly well that the Ninth Senior Brother held no affection for her and usually treated her as though she didn't exist, but she couldn't comprehend how he could leave her without a protector in such a dire moment.

"The Fifth Senior Brother is supposed to be protecting me! Why did you force him to fight the beasts instead?" she demanded.

Her meaning was clear: the Ninth Senior Brother should have been the one dealing with the danger, not the Fifth Senior Brother. The current arrangement was all wrong.

"So what if he is?"

The Ninth Senior Brother glanced back at her, his expression icy.

"Just because the Fifth Senior Brother protects you, does that mean he is obligated to be dragged to his death by you? I’ve never seen a disciple of the Bright Moon Sect as ignorant as you. When faced with demonic beasts, is screaming the only thing you are capable of?"
