City Lord Bai and Hong Dahua discuss the delegation of the Le Family's affairs to Bai Ti, hoping to distance themselves from the unfolding conflict. Suspicious of the mysterious death of the Second Young Master Sima, Hong Dahua decides to gather information to discern if a larger conspiracy is at play. Meanwhile, she intends to visit the Secluded Gorge to seek support from the clan elders, a plan met with resistance from her husband. Together, they decide to wait and watch as the situation inevitably reaches the City Lord Residence.

Through the dense forest, a pack of a dozen demonic beasts galloped in a singular direction. Leading them by a slight margin was a group composed of one man and six children.

"Pick up the pace! Did you forget to eat today? Hurry up and move!"

Qian Yinuo bellowed, darting ahead with unmatched speed despite being the youngest of the group.

"Min Yi, I am addressing you! You are lagging behind everyone else!"

Receiving no verbal acknowledgement, he firmly called out to the straggler.

Min Yi: "..."

His soles felt as if they were literally burning from the friction, yet he remained the slowest of the bunch. How could this be?

What was the purpose of this relentless flight? Who had provoked such ferocious demonic beasts to hunt them down? Why did they seem to be the targets of every beast lately?

In all his years, he had never been forced to run so far or with such desperate intensity.

"Young Masters, simply running will not save us. We need to formulate a plan to strike down these creatures!" he yelled toward the children.

Human stamina simply could not compete with that of demonic beasts. These monsters could pursue their prey for three days and nights without requiring a moment of respite.

Eventually, the exertion would leave the group drained and unable to proceed.

Rather than collapsing and being devoured, it would be far better to turn and make their stand. Even if they had to drag the beasts down into the grave with them, they should at least claim some kills.

Though the prospect of such a death seemed unreasonable, no other options remained.

"Stop wasting your breath and just run!"

Qian Yizheng hauled him forward, urging him to hurry; it was pathetic for an adult to be slower than the children.

Little Lu falling behind was expected, as the children had only recently begun their Cultivation journey, but Min Yi had no excuse for lagging. He was a grown man, and even with minimal daily training, how could his physical state and levels of Qi be so pitiful?

"If you fail to keep up, you will just be served up as a free meal to those beasts!"

"Why would it be a free meal?"

Min Yi was bewildered. Even if he wasn't particularly hefty, he was still flesh and blood; how could that be considered free?

"Tsk, you talk too much. I am done dealing with you!"

Qian Yizheng dismissed him and sprinted forward.

These demonic beasts were not brought here by their own hands, so why should they be the ones to handle them? Their only duty was to resolve the trouble they themselves invited; those who attracted this swarm should be the ones to face the consequences.

If someone thought they could scheme against them, they clearly overestimated their own strength!

"Brother, can you pinpoint the location of those culprits?" he asked, glancing toward Qian Yizheng as he sprinted at the lead.

"Follow me! I have their scent!"

Before Qian Yizheng could respond, Qian Yinuo shouted from the very front.

Whoever dared to plot against them would soon learn the bitter consequences of the disaster they had sown.

"I... you lot are truly..."

Listening to their banter, Min Yi finally realized why the children refused to fight back against the pack.

He contemplated their internal reserves; with their hidden strength, they could easily command the large beast that had been trailing them to clear the path, so why bother running at all?

It turns out these monsters had been maliciously lured toward them by someone else!

Whoever had designed such a spiteful trick must be those stingy individuals who wanted a barbecue but lacked the funds to pay for the service!

It was them, without a shadow of a doubt!
