City Lord Bai and his allies trust in the collective strength of the Beast Domain to handle upcoming dangers. Meanwhile, the Head of the Le Family is frustrated to discover that his targets have departed the city alongside Young City Lord Bai, heading toward the volatile region of the Cloud-Touching Forest. Suspecting the couple may be key to resolving the ongoing magic beast upheaval, the Family Head orders Old Jing to lead reinforcements to the area, inadvertently creating the perfect cover for Old Jing to make his own secret move.

Despite his internal turmoil, he quickly composed himself and spoke with a grave tone, "Understood, Family Head. I shall keep a vigilant eye on that pair."

"Excellent."

The Head of the Le Family gave a nod of approval.

He was burning with curiosity to know the true nature of this couple, enough to capture the undivided attention of the City Lord Residence.

"Hold a moment, Mr. Jing."

As Old Jing prepared to depart, Steward Zhao called out to him.

"Is there something else?"

Old Jing turned, maintaining a calm facade.

He refused to let this aged steward derail his grand scheme; once he slipped away from the Le Family with his followers, he would ensure no trace of his existence remained.

"Mr. Jing, word has reached us that Young City Lord Bai and his companions departed on the back of a Soaring Eagle," Steward Zhao reported to both men.

"A Soaring Eagle?"

"A Soaring Eagle?!"

Both men exclaimed in unison.

Old Jing’s eyes narrowed sharply. He was certain this creature did not hail from the City Lord Residence; he had never once heard of them possessing such a tamed beast.

Therefore, the Soaring Eagle undoubtedly belonged to the couple, Qian Jiyun and his wife.

He ground his teeth, catching the look of bewilderment in the Head of the Le Family’s eyes.

"They only arrived in the Beast Domain recently. How could they possibly possess a Soaring Eagle as a mount?" the Family Head demanded.

A Soaring Eagle was no ordinary beast; while not the apex predator, its sheer speed was legendary, and its wild nature made it notoriously difficult to tame unless it was raised from a chick.

Even so, the beast would rarely accept just anyone upon its back.

"It serves to prove those two possess an aura of true distinction," Old Jing noted.

If they were ordinary, how could they have secured such a beast? It was no mystery why City Lord Bai treated them with such deference, even permitting his own son to associate with them—all in an attempt to earn their favor.

The Head of the Le Family exhaled slowly, resting his hands on his hips.

"Old Jing, when you approach them, try to build a rapport, but avoid any rash behavior. Young City Lord Bai is already familiar with you," he cautioned.

"I understand the stakes."

Old Jing nodded. Of course he understood.

The Family Head believed he was still operating as a loyal counselor of the Le Family; if Young City Lord Bai revealed his true allegiance to Qian Jiyun and his wife, he would lose his window to approach them.

But was that of any consequence to him?

Once he abandoned the Le Family and vacated White Lion City, their affairs would no longer concern him. What reason did he have for fear?

"I shall remain cautious."

"See that you do."

Seeing that his instructions were received, the Head of the Le Family ceased speaking.

As Old Jing retreated, the Family Head turned his gaze to Steward Zhao, his expression darkening once more.

"What have you coddled that scoundrel with now?"

"Pardon?"

Steward Zhao looked completely lost. What had he done? Nothing at all.

Ever since the conflict with Qian Jiyun had drawn in the City Lord Residence, he hadn't dared to leave his quarters, terrified of bringing more shame to his master.

"I heard you provided that wretch with a significant sum and resources," the Le Family Head snapped, glaring at him.

Even penniless, that scoundrel was a magnet for trouble; armed with Steward Zhao's funds, he was surely destined to incite even larger catastrophes.

He had strictly forbid him to leave the grounds, yet the scoundrel had clearly ignored every warning, venturing out the moment his back was turned.
