Ye Qiu returns to his village after two years, drawing attention with his new car. While he distributes gifts, villagers gossip about his success. His mother and brother's families remain distant, though his young nephew, Ye Yu, seems eager to reconnect. Granny Ye, despite past neglect, anticipates financial support from her successful eldest son.

Upon reaching the village entrance, Ye Yu found that Ye Qiu had already returned to the humble thatched cottage on the other side of the village. Inside, several aunties and Chen Wen were engaged in conversation while tidying up the dwelling. The cottage, though small, had been kept in good order when they departed, making the cleaning process quite manageable. Ye Qiu had even brought fresh bedding from the provincial city, which he quickly arranged. Their current visit was primarily for the weddings of Ye Xiaomei and Ye Fang, which included a banquet, meaning they wouldn't need to prepare many meals. A strong desire to avoid eating at Granny Ye's place led them to opt for contributing money and dining at the village chief's home, further simplifying kitchen duties.

While Ye Qiu was showing Manman the layout of the thatched house, Ye Yu finally arrived, his face a mask of fury. However, the moment his eyes landed on the sleek black sedan, his simmering resentment evaporated. He promptly decided that all the other toys his uncle might bring would be secondary; this car alone would suffice. He envisioned driving it to school, picturing the immense envy of his classmates who had previously looked down on him. At that instant, Ye Yu perceived Ye Qiu's car purely as his own grand plaything, utterly disregarding any practicalities like possessing a driver's license or the ability to operate such a vehicle. Having always been the spoiled 'little tyrant' of the family, accustomed to getting his way, and knowing his uncle's consistent generosity, he confidently assumed his uncle would not refuse his request for the car. The vehicle, in his mind, had already become his property.

"Uncle, I want this car!" Ye Yu declared, standing before the vehicle with an expression brimming with arrogance.

The aunties and young wives conversing with Chen Wen were taken aback by his statement, murmuring amongst themselves about the audacious confidence behind his entitled tone.

"What did you say?" Ye Qiu was taken aback. He was aware that Granny Ye had indulged his nephew, making him spoiled and arrogant, but he never imagined that at just eight years old, he would attempt to lay claim to his car. It solidified his suspicion that this child would eventually covet his property once grown. "Uncle, I mean, you don't have to bring me other toys; you can just exchange them for this car," Ye Yu explained, seemingly unaware of the absurdity of his demand, as if Ye Qiu hadn't heard him clearly.

Before Ye Qiu or Chen Wen could utter a response, the nearby aunties couldn't contain themselves. "Ye boy, this isn't a toy for you to play with." "Do you have any idea how expensive this car is? You can't just demand it." "Even biological parents wouldn't give such a valuable item to an eight-year-old to play with." The aunties chimed in with a cascade of remarks, causing Ye Yu's lips to press into a tighter line and his fists to clench. "None of your business, you busybodies! What belongs to my uncle is mine!"

This declaration was utterly astonishing. Though these women weren't particularly close to his mother, Liu Ping, they maintained polite smiles and casual greetings when they met. They never anticipated being the subject of such venomous words behind their backs. Busy bodies? If such sentiments weren't frequently voiced at home, how could a child internalize them so vividly? And the assertion that his uncle's possessions were his? It seemed Ye Laoer's family harbored designs on Eldest Ye's assets! Whether Ye Qiu and Sister Wen would agree was another matter entirely.

One auntie scoffed, "Ye boy, even your father wouldn't dare claim your uncle's belongings as his own. Some people need to accept their fate and stop coveting what rightfully belongs to others." "Precisely, everything your uncle owns will eventually belong to your cousin Manman, including this car," added another. "How does Ye Laoer even raise his children? This child truly has no grasp of the world's immensity." While villagers often engaged in idle gossip, none would fabricate such tales in front of children. This was why, despite the Ye Laoer family's questionable reputation, Ye Yu still had playmates. It appeared that in the future, they would need to keep their own children away from Ye Yu, lest his spoiled and willful demeanor corrupt them!

An eight-year-old child, doted upon by his family and typically brimming with pride, now found himself facing the condemnation of the very aunties his mother disdained. His rage surged uncontrollably. "You're all talking nonsense! My granny and mom say that cousin Manman is an outsider. I am the one who will carry on the Ye family's lineage. All of Uncle's belongings will be mine in the future, including this car!" "Why would anyone's family property be given to a nephew instead of their own child? You should ask your uncle and aunt if they agree?" "Granny Ye and Liu Ping are truly ruthless, still coveting Eldest Ye's possessions? When Eldest Ye's family struggled to afford food, they certainly didn't offer any help!"

Under a barrage of accusations, Ye Yu felt on the verge of tears. How could what everyone was saying differ so drastically from his grandmother's assurances?

However, recalling his uncle's past fondness for him, he immediately stepped forward, pleading for help with tears streaming down his face: "Uncle, they're all mistaken. Granny said you cherished me the most, and that I'd achieve great things in the future. She even said you'd depend on me when you're old. Please scold them for me; otherwise, I won't acknowledge you when I become successful."

The audacity of his words was truly astounding!

Whether this presumptuous eight-year-old would amount to anything in the future remained unknown to them, but Ye Qiu had already made his stance clear. The idea of them relying on him in the future was preposterous.

Given their family's ungrateful and selfish nature, any dependency would be the other way around.

"Ye Yu," Ye Qiu stated after a moment of silence, "While you are my nephew, this car was purchased by your aunt. I cannot simply give it to you. Even if it were my own, it would rightfully belong to your sister Manman. I will not have you dictating my future care. If you genuinely desire a car, you should ask your father to buy you one, or strive diligently in your studies so you can afford it yourself when you mature."

Upon hearing this response, Ye Yu's rage ignited instantly. This was not at all what his grandmother and mother had led him to believe!

Witnessing the car's impressive appearance, he couldn't fathom why his uncle would refuse to give it to him.

"Is it her? Is she the one preventing it?" Ye Yu wrathfully pointed at Chen Wen. "Granny said Aunt is no good, that she's a jinx who can't bear children, and that she's an outsider!"

These words left the attending aunts utterly astonished. Chen Wen had never shirked her responsibilities since marrying into the Ye Family; it turned out Granny Ye never truly considered her part of the family.

Ye Qiu and Chen Wen's expressions darkened considerably, and even Manman, no longer the oblivious child she once was, sensed the shift.

Aware that the boy before her was her cousin, yet he harbored dislike for her and her mother, even slandering her mother.

"This is my mom, not an outsider. You are the one who is the outsider," Manman declared, unable to contain herself, her childish voice surprisingly firm and not at all irritating.

"Precisely, as Manman stated, your aunt, Manman, and I form our own family, with no outsiders. You and your parents constitute your own separate family," Ye Qiu asserted sternly, enunciating each word clearly.

"My possessions are not subject to your family's dictates. You should depart; we will visit Granny later."

The surrounding aunts observed him with mocking smiles. The lack of defense from his uncle proved too much for Ye Yu. His eyes welled up with fury, and he shouted at Ye Qiu, "Just you wait! When I achieve greatness, I won't spare you! I'm returning to Granny; she'll back me up!"

"Pfft, whether you'll amount to anything is still highly questionable. Who cares?"

"Exactly. This Ye lad has been spoiled rotten by Granny Ye and Liu Ping, filled with too much pride and arrogance."

"Ye Qiu, don't be upset. What Aunt said stems from your mother's excessive bias."

"Indeed, Sister Wen, you need to be more aware of your position!"

"Thank you all for your kind concern; we are grateful. Family matters are inherently complex, and as it is getting late, we must visit the Old Lady soon. Therefore, we shall take our leave," Chen Wen didn't elaborate further, offering only polite pleasantries.

Observing the strained smiles on Chen Wen and Ye Qiu's faces, everyone nodded in understanding, shaking their heads as they dispersed to their respective homes.

Every family faces internal strife, but the Ye Family's issues were simply more pronounced.

Ye Qiu and Chen Wen understood that Ye Yu's tearful return would undoubtedly escalate their visit into a full-blown tempest. However, the couple remained unfazed; they were no longer the pushovers they had been two years prior.

Furthermore, concerning the day's events, no one could genuinely fault them if the truth were to be told.

Without haste, the couple escorted Manman back to their room, tidied their belongings, and saw to her nourishment with food and milk before leisurely making their way to Eldest Ye's residence.

By this time, Eldest Ye's family had been stewing in their anger, which had reached its zenith, impatiently awaiting Ye Qiu's family's arrival to unleash their barrage of complaints.

Ye Yu walked with an air of heightened confidence, bolstered by the presence of his grandmother and parents. His earlier feelings of grievance and anger had morphed into smug satisfaction. Hmph, even if his uncle and the others were to hand over the car, all his toys, and snacks, he still wouldn't forgive them.

Especially Granny Ye, who harbored the belief that Eldest Ye had been deluded by Chen Wen, further fueling her displeasure towards her.
