Ye Yao's classmates are impressed by her true identity and her uncle's good looks. Ye Yao expresses her deep affection for her uncle, stating he's the only one who matters. Meanwhile, Ye Qiu reflects on Ye Xingyan's past and present relationships and contemplates his own recovery and plans to secure Ye Yao's position in the Ye family. He agrees to see a traditional Chinese doctor Ye Yao knows to examine his legs.

Ye Yao led Ye Qiu to a relatively secluded alley. This place was inhabited by long-time residents and, for some reason, hadn’t been slated for demolition, maintaining the old courtyard residential style.

"Here we are, Grandpa Hong is inside," Ye Yao said as she knocked on the courtyard door. An elderly man, somewhat unsteady on his feet, smiled at her upon seeing her.

"Yaoyao is here. I heard you’ve gone to live with your birth parents. Qian Lan Ya isn’t causing you any trouble anymore, is she?" he asked kindly.

"No, I have no relation with her anymore."

"That’s good. Your mom, she’s a heartless one."

"Grandpa Hong, this is my little uncle. I’m here today to ask you for a favor."

He glanced at Ye Qiu and shook his head, "I’m too old for this; I can’t treat it."

"How do you know without trying? Old man, look at me, so young, unable to walk. Just take pity on me," Ye Qiu said with a light chuckle, making it hard for people to refuse.

"Sigh, come in then."

The old master invited them in. On one side of the courtyard, seasonal vegetables were growing, and on the other side, herbs were laid out to dry. Inside and outside, everything was meticulously clean.

"Sorry to disturb you, old master."

"Place your hand here; I’ll take a look. Also, roll up your pant leg. Can you tell me how this leg got injured?"

"Car accident, and it was drugged."

"How long has it been?"

"Four and a half years."

"What do other doctors say?"

"They just say that with the advancement in medical skills, there might be a chance in the future."

"Someone massages it daily, right? It’s well-maintained; the muscles still have some elasticity."

"My family runs a business, so we’re not short of money for hiring caregivers."

"Hmm." The old master nodded and stopped speaking, slowly diagnosing Ye Qiu, occasionally furrowing his brow, making Ye Yao very nervous.

"Yaoyao, could you go buy something for me?" Ye Qiu said at this moment.

"What does little uncle want to buy?"

"I’m craving the Old Chen Family’s dishes. Go pack some and bring it back; we’ll eat with the old master."

"But now you’re..." Ye Yao hesitated.

"It’s okay. Go ahead."

Ye Yao couldn’t refuse any of Ye Qiu’s requests, so she left, even though she was uneasy.

"You know what I want to say? You don’t want to disappoint her, right?" The old master said kindly with a knowing expression.

"It’s not entirely that, old master. I want to borrow your name for a bit."

"What do you mean?"

"I want to treat my leg myself, but I don’t want people to know that I healed it on my own," Ye Qiu confessed honestly.

"Impossible," the old master immediately denied it. "With the current medical methods, no one can treat this leg."

"Then let’s make a bet. If I can heal it, will you help me keep this secret, old master?"

"Bet it is then," the old master was obviously skeptical. However, seeing Ye Qiu’s serious demeanor, he was somewhat suspicious. When Ye Qiu started administering the needles himself, he was left with nothing but shock, wishing he could be decades younger to apprentice under Ye Qiu. But, alas, he was already at an age where his eyesight was failing, and learning anything was too late for him.

However, the old master was not without his uses. Under Ye Qiu’s direction, he was able to do quite a bit. Truly an old master of some skill, later, Ye Qiu only needed to supervise while he carried out the needlework.

When Ye Yao returned, she saw Ye Qiu lying on a deck chair with numerous needles not only in his legs but also in his head. He was sweating profusely.

"Little uncle, this is..." she asked, both shocked and somewhat excited.

Ye Qiu gave a faint smile, "The old master said to give it a try, so here we are. Don’t worry; it looks painful, but it’s actually quite comfortable."

"Grandpa Hong, is there really hope for my little uncle’s leg?"

The old master, with an inscrutable demeanor, said, "Not necessarily, but there’s no harm in trying."

"That’s wonderful!" Ye Yao knew that Grandpa Hong wouldn’t speak baselessly, which made her believe that Old Master Hong could really help Ye Qiu recover.

"Don’t get your hopes up too much; it’s really just a try," he advised, not certain if Ye Qiu could really heal himself and not wanting Ye Yao to be too disappointed in the future.

"Mmm-hmm," Ye Yao clearly didn’t take it to heart.

He helplessly glanced at Ye Qiu, who simply nodded reassuringly at him.

Since the treatment was carried out daily, Ye Yao couldn’t accompany him every day, and every time Old Master Hong used the excuse that the treatment was inconvenient for others to watch, he kept Uncle Li and the bodyguards outside. Therefore, no one knew exactly who was the main doctor or what progress Ye Qiu was making.

Ye Bai and the others were aware that Ye Yao had found an old Chinese doctor for Ye Qiu, but they didn’t pay much attention. Ye Tang had already sought the best doctors both at home and abroad, all of whom said there was no solution. Could a random old Chinese doctor Ye Yao found on the street possibly have a solution? That would be simply laughable.

It wasn’t until three months later that Ye Qiu asked Ye Tang and Zhang Jingyi to find two rehab specialists and arrange a rehabilitation room for him. Only then did they learn that Ye Qiu’s leg not only had feeling again but was also able to stand on its own, albeit for a short time. This was already a medical miracle, and perhaps in some time, he might completely recover?

Ye Bai was utterly panicked; if Ye Qiu recovered, would there still be a place for him? Originally, he was brought back because Ye Tang wanted to secure some assurance for his despairing son. Now that Ye Qiu not only emerged from his despondency but might even walk again, would Ye Tang still allow his existence threatening Ye Qiu?

"Husband, I am not reconciled," Shen Huiran murmured, "We have worked so hard, sacrificed so much. Are we just commodities? Summoned when needed, tossed when not."

Ye Bai held his head, his gaze utterly terrifying, for he, too, was not reconciled.

"Mom, I wish Sister Yao hadn’t gone to that old Chinese doctor in the first place. If she knew that old Chinese doctor was this good, why didn’t she come and discuss it with Dad and Mom?" Ye Xingyan pressed her lips together.

Shen Huiran scoffed, "Why else? She’s not close to us, of course she wishes the best for her little uncle. That fool, if Ye Qiu recovers, does she think there will still be a place for her in the Ye Family in the future?"

"But in the end, Grandpa and Grandma will thank her."

Shen Huiran took a deep breath, growing increasingly annoyed with Ye Yao, believing that this biological daughter was destined to clash with her. How long had she been back at the Ye Family, and how many things had happened because of her?

"Husband, what do we do now?" she asked worriedly, "I don’t want to go back, what sense does that make?"

"I’ll think of something," Ye Bai pondered, "I can’t just be used like this."

Compared to the low spirits on this side, over there, Zhang Jingyi and Ye Tang were overjoyed to the point of tears. This situation was too exciting; they could hardly believe their ears.

Ye Tang, excited, said, "I’ll get right on it for you, Dad will take care of it."

And Zhang Jingyi, choking back tears, grasped Ye Yao’s hand, "Child, thank you!"
