Ye Yun confronts her ailing father, Ye Changfeng, seeking his help against her sister. He urges her to apologize, but Ye Yun refuses, blaming her sister for her mother's past and her own current misfortunes. Their argument escalates, with Ye Yun accusing her father of bias and mistreatment, ultimately triggering a fatal medical episode in Ye Changfeng. Upon Ye Qiu's arrival, she confronts Ye Yun, slapping her for her actions. The doctor confirms Ye Changfeng's death, and Ye Yun, though distraught and blaming the medical staff, is confronted by a cold Ye Qiu.

The funeral for Ye Changfeng was a grand affair, and whispers had already begun circulating among those in attendance. They directed unusual glances towards Ye Yun, who was openly weeping at the somber event.

Ye Yun, however, was too consumed by her grief to notice the scrutinizing looks. Her only support, the one person who could stand against Ye Qiu, was now gone. She wondered how she would possibly navigate the future.

Even though her husband remained by her side, the chillingly cold expressions from her father-in-law and mother-in-law as they offered their condolences sent shivers of fear down her spine.

"Don't be sad, I will always be here to support you," Zhang Beichen said softly, his hand encompassing hers. The warmth and strength of his palm instilled a sense of confidence within her.

She resolved that she could not admit defeat; she had not lost yet. The Zhang family was not so easily brought down. She possessed a wealth of precognitive knowledge that she hadn't been able to utilize before, but Beichen certainly could.

Three days later, within the confines of West City Prison, Ye Qiu arrived to visit Mei Chunli.

"What brings you here?" Mei Chunli asked, her voice listless as she regarded Ye Qiu.

"I've come to share some news and to deliver a letter to you."

"What kind of letter?"

"My father wrote it for you."

Mei Chunli's brow furrowed. "Then why didn't your father come himself?"

"Did Ye Yun not inform you?"

"Inform me of what?"

Ye Qiu gazed directly into Mei Chunli's eyes. "My father passed away just five days ago. It's highly probable that Ye Yun's actions angered him to his death."

"What did you just say?" Mei Chunli's voice suddenly grew agitated. "Your father was not feeling well, but he was always steady. How could he have passed away? And how is it connected to Ye Yun?"

"I understand you may have grievances with me, and you likely won't believe anything I say, but the fact remains that Ye Yun entered my father's ward that day. The surveillance footage shows they were conversing, and though I don't know the specifics of their discussion, my father became extremely agitated. He then fainted, and despite the doctors' best efforts, they couldn't save him," Ye Qiu stated the facts with a calm demeanor.

Mei Chunli slumped back into her chair, muttering, "Impossible, this cannot be. I had everything arranged with your father. We were supposed to go to the countryside to rest once I was released. How could he heartlessly leave me behind first?"

"This is my father's letter to you, and these are the assets he left for you. I have arranged for a lawyer, and rest assured, I will not appropriate any of this inheritance from you."

"You..." Mei Chunli could only stare at Ye Qiu, rendered speechless.

"That is all. Please sign these documents, and Lawyer Zhang will be in touch with you once you are released." With that, Ye Qiu stood up to leave.

"I am sorry." Mei Chunli stood abruptly and called out.

Ye Qiu paused, finally turning back to ask the question that had been on her mind: "May I ask why you wanted to harm me?"

Mei Chunli lowered her head in shame. "I was under some sort of influence at the time. I only thought that if you were out of the picture, Xiao Yun could achieve prominence. I am sorry, can you forgive me?"

"Forgive?" Ye Qiu regarded her with a mocking expression.

"Can a mere apology erase everything? If I hadn't been quick-witted, I might have been gone long ago. And had you not taken those actions, my father might still be alive, and your daughter would not have suffered the consequences of my retaliation."

"What have you done to Xiao Yun?" Mei Chunli's panic returned.

"Your daughter has always insisted on your innocence, believing that I framed you intentionally. Therefore, after you were incarcerated, she engaged in many foolish actions. She even attempted to abduct Xiao Shu as a means of threatening me, and she tried to bribe the financial personnel at my company to falsely report me for tax evasion. Her methods were not particularly sophisticated, but they were certainly vexing. So, to ensure my own peace, I had to take action against her."

"She is your sister, your own blood-related sister!" Mei Chunli cried out anxiously.

"But she has never considered me her sister." Ye Qiu looked back at her. "Aunt Mei, since you married into this family, have I ever caused you any trouble? When others mocked your marriage to my father due to the age gap, I defended you. Then why is it that you and your daughter felt the need to push me to the absolute limit? Asking me to forgive her now—isn't that profoundly unfair?"

"I..." Mei Chunli was left without words, a deep sense of regret settling within her. Why had she ever involved herself in such matters?

If she hadn't contemplated harming Ye Qiu, she wouldn't be imprisoned, her husband wouldn't be dead, and her daughter wouldn't be so stubbornly defiant. Her daughter had a promising future, but it was now ruined due to her own mistakes—all her fault.

"I beg you, can I kneel before you? Spare her; she is naive. Please do not hold her actions against her." Mei Chunli pleaded desperately.

"Aunt Mei, there is no medicine for regret." With that, Ye Qiu turned and departed.

As she walked away, Ye Qiu couldn't suppress a sneer within her heart. Spare her? When she had died in her previous life, did these people show any mercy to Ye Shu?

At that time, Ye Yun had gained control of the entire group, and Mei Chunli’s status had long since changed. She couldn’t fathom that Ye Yun would disregard her pleas. Yet, Ye Shu was still exiled overseas and treacherously framed for drug addiction by malicious individuals. Why did they lack compassion and tenderness back then? Why did they not cherish their familial bonds?

She harbored a desire to immerse Mei Chunli in perpetual regret and agony. After savoring years of affluence and self-assurance as the mistress of the household, capable of anything—when Mei Chunli opposed her, did she ever truly contemplate the repercussions?

"Beichen, we have no need to fear Ye Qiu. I am aware of a venture that is guaranteed to yield substantial profits." Since the somber funeral, Ye Yun’s mental state had been somewhat fractured, her thoughts consumed by the uncertainties of the future.

"What venture are you referring to?"

Ye Yun drew nearer to him, her voice laced with a hint of mystery: "I possess credible intelligence suggesting that the land in the eastern district is highly likely slated for demolition. We should secure a portion of it in advance."

Zhang Beichen’s heart fluttered, his smile appearing somewhat strained: "That area in the eastern sector is an antiquated district, densely populated. Should the government decide on demolition, the associated fees would be considerable. Why squander funds on this endeavor when we could focus on developing the northern district?"

"That is naturally because the northern district is designated for the construction of a high-speed rail station." Ye Yun spoke her thoughts aloud, oblivious to the dawning suspicion in Zhang Beichen’s eyes. "However, the northern district will also be redeveloped; we can acquire that as well. And the southern district, the government plans to establish an airport there."

The more Ye Yun elaborated, the more astonished Zhang Beichen became. He recognized the veracity of her claims. Yet, this very accuracy rendered the situation unbelievable. The development in the eastern district was slated for at least three years later, the high-speed rail station in the northern district five years away, and the airport project even six years in the future. While the government might have initiated preliminary planning, no concrete directives had been issued. How could his wife possess such intimate knowledge?

Could she be experiencing the same phenomenon as him?

After a period of contemplation, Zhang Beichen finally voiced his question: "Wife, have you been reborn?"
