Chen Yan discovers a peculiar finger bone, suspecting it's an artificial limb belonging to Xie Jiuyan. He finds the bone has zero resistance to Primordial Qi and is incredibly durable, leading him to ponder its extraordinary nature.

Even for someone like Chen Yan, a cultivator whose physical body has been nourished and is well-suited for cultivation as a "Dao Body," his affinity for Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi was merely "excellent."

But if this material has a perfect affinity...

Chen Yan immediately understood why Xie Jiuyan turned such a thing into his own bone.

With a perfect Yuan Qi affinity, during cultivation, Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi can enter the body without any resistance!

No delay, no obstruction, no loss!

In fact, due to this perfect affinity, it would actively attract the gathering of Qi, making cultivation twice as effective with half the effort, even calling it modestly.

The first question is, where did Xie Jiuyan get this thing?

The second question is, is there more of this thing available!!

Chen Yan sighed.

It seems his words to Wu that they wouldn’t meet again might come to naught!

Wu had held back some things he had said before, so Chen Yan would need to ask him more about it.

Especially,

The exact location in those mountains where he initially encountered Xie Jiuyan.

Xie Jiuyan had been hiding in the mountains for years; did he find the material for this finger bone there?

Is there more in those mountains!

·

Chen Yan returned to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the afternoon of the second day.

As he drove into Philadelphia, Chen Yan headed towards Wu’s safe house following his memory.

However, as he drove into the nearby street, his expression suddenly changed!

Two police cars were parked on the street, and not far away, underneath the old building that housed Wu’s safe house, there was also a fire truck and a police riot vehicle.

Seven or eight police officers stood by the roadside, and a cordon had been erected.

On the top of the police cars, the police lights spun and flashed.

Chen Yan maintained his composure, did not reduce the speed of the car, but instead drove straight along the road!

·

Something had happened to Wu!

The area beneath the safe house was swarming with police officers, and as Chen Yan drove past, he had already glimpsed through the car window that the glass of the window belonging to Wu’s safe house was shattered!

The shape of the broken glass resembled the trace of a gunshot!

At the same time, a smoldering scent of explosion still lingered in the air.

Beside a hydrant on the roadside, there were clearly blood stains on the ground!

·

After driving two streets away, Chen Yan pretended to park by the roadside, got out, went into a convenience store to buy a pack of cigarettes and a can of cola, and returned to the car. While pondering, he pulled out his phone to search the local news.

Sure enough, Chen Yan found the clues he needed online.

According to local news reports, there had been a shooting incident at noon today.

After receiving an alarm call, the police arrived and engaged in a small-scale gunfight with the perpetrators. Two officers were shot and injured, one of the suspects was apprehended with serious injuries, and several bodies were found at the scene.

After seeing this news, Chen Yan continued to dig deeper to find more information.

A few minutes later, he saw someone disclose a clue in the comments section of a news article.

It was said that one of the shooting suspects caught by the police, the seriously injured one, was an Asian man!

·

At night, in a local hospital in Philadelphia.

In the ward, Wu lay on the bed, an oxygen tube inserted in his nostrils. His body still bore the marks of post-surgery bloodstains, with handcuffs on each hand, secured to the bed frame.

The ward was empty, but outside in the corridor, two armed officers kept guard. One sat resting, while the other stood idly moving about.

But if anyone approached, they would immediately step up to warn the person to leave.

Only designated medical personnel from the hospital were allowed near this room.

Furthermore, in the distant resting room for medical staff along the corridor, two federal agents were stationed on guard duty.

Wu had taken a severe hit; a bullet had pierced his right lung. Fortunately, he survived, and after being brought back to the hospital by the police, doctors performed surgery to sew up the lung tissue torn by the bullet and extracted some of the blood that had seeped into the lung.

However, post-surgery, the damaged area continued to ooze, so even in a comatose state, Wu’s breathing remained short and weak.

He had lost a lot of blood, and having suffered two severe injuries in such a short time, his physical functions had not fully recovered before being dealt another blow. In this state, he fell into a deep sleep.

The police waited outside just for the moment he would wake up to begin their interrogation.

·

The ward was on the sixth floor, and the room’s window was sealed and could not be opened.

Yet at this moment, a shadow slowly appeared behind the glass, a finger extended and easily cut through the cold, hard glass. Then, with a twist of the finger, a piece of irregularly shaped glass was extracted.

This figure caught the glass, then slipped through the gap, landing lightly and silently on the floor inside the ward.

Chen Yan placed the piece of glass by the wall, listened intently at the door to ensure no unusual movement outside, then turned and approached the bed.

Due to the seriousness of the case, Wu had been put in a private ward.

Chen Yan stood by the bed, gazed at Wu for a few moments, then walked over, split a Bone Pill into two with his fingers, and placed half of it into Wu’s mouth.

He then thought for a moment, went to the door, took out a chain, and fastened the lock and handle of the door together.

Having done all this, Chen Yan quickly pulled out the wires connected to Wu’s finger and monitoring his heart rate and blood oxygen levels, then removed the oxygen tube from his nostrils.

In his sleep, Wu remained unresponsive, while the equipment soon began a beeping alarm.

Without delay or hesitation, Chen Yan hoisted Wu from the bed onto his shoulder, quickly reached the window, slipping out through the hole...

Just as his figure descended, the door to the ward was violently pulled from outside, but the outside found the door locked, and an exclamation was heard.

The pulling turned into a ramming against the door!

After several attempts, a burly officer crashed through and stumbled into the room, followed by other officers and two federal agents who came running after the alarm.

The officers had already drawn their guns.

But soon, everyone was momentarily stunned when they saw the empty bed.

With a higher sense of duty, one of the federal agents rushed to the window and, upon seeing the cut-out glass, all were dumb-founded.

·

Wu woke up two hours later.

When he came to, he found himself sitting in the backseat of Chen Yan’s car.

The sky was still dark, and the car was parked within an old factory building in Philadelphia—a common structure in the city.

As a once-thriving industrial city during the era of deindustrialization, these old factory buildings were left abandoned and became industrial tombstones in Philadelphia.

Upon waking, Wu’s first reaction was vigilance, but upon seeing Chen Yan in the front seat silently browsing his phone, his tensed muscles promptly relaxed.

"I seem to owe you another life," Wu spoke in a hoarse voice, sounding as if someone had slit his throat.

Chen Yan put down his phone: "What happened?"

"Word got out somehow," Wu shook his head. "I’m not entirely sure of the specifics yet, but... someone attacked my safe house; likely some of my former colleagues."

Chen Yan didn’t speak; he merely turned to calmly regard Wu.

Wu’s voice was bitter: "In the assassin business, there’s never any notion of retirement or a way out."

Chen Yan nodded: "Since you chose this line of work back then, you should have understood."

"I know, but... there’s always wishful thinking."

"An organization involved in killings, you have no idea how many lives and crimes it shoulders. How could such an organization possibly allow its members to retire or leave?" Chen Yan faintly smiled, "You should have realized this."

"My daughter... Angie..."

"I don’t know where she is." Chen Yan shook his head, "I only found you."

"Help me find her!" Wu’s eyes were filled with urgency and pleading.

Chen Yan thought for a moment: "Okay, but first you have to do something for me."

As he spoke, he presented the finger bone: "Tell me, what’s the deal with this."
