It resembled a tourist documentary far more than a variety show.

Having been away from modern culture and geography for so long, Xia Wanyuan felt intrigued by every little thing. Jun Shiling stayed by her side, tasting local delicacies and drinks as they wandered through the town's scenic mountains and rivers.

Beneath thriving bamboo groves, Jun Shiling and Xia Wanyuan sat facing one another. Amidst cascading mountain vistas, Jun Shiling joined Xia Wanyuan for tea beside the gentle stream. Along the petal-strewn walkway, Xia Wanyuan wore a delicate flower crown while being cradled in Jun Shiling's arms.

[ I saw a god… I suddenly feel that the plot of the novel is nothing much. I love Xia Wanyuan too much. Boohoo. ]

[This is the real happy person. Drunk in the mortal world together, sharing the mountains and rivers. F*ck, when can I meet such love?]

[ Although you say it’s a variety show, in my opinion, this is the best love movie. I’ve seen so many love movies, but they aren’t as moving as Jun Shiling and Xia Wanyuan’s daily life. ]

Just then, the mountain trail overflowed with blossoms of every kind. Xia Wanyuan cherished the sight immensely and drew Jun Shiling over to admire it alongside her, though he appeared somewhat preoccupied.

After Xia Wanyuan called out to Jun Shiling a couple of times with no response, she halted and gazed at him puzzled. “What’s wrong??”

Jun Shiling then met Xia Wanyuan's eyes with slight embarrassment. “It’s nothing.”

The confusion in Xia Wanyuan’s gaze grew stronger. Glancing downward, she noticed Jun Shiling's hand lingering behind her. “Why aren’t you holding my hand?”

Normally, whenever they stepped out, Jun Shiling would grasp her hand right away without needing a cue from Xia Wanyuan. Yet today, ever since ascending the mountain, Jun Shiling had acted oddly—not clasping her hand and seeming distant.

Xia Wanyuan couldn't shake her suspicions. “Did something happen to the company?”

“No.” Jun Shiling denied with a head shake. “Don’t think too much. Let’s go higher.”

Saying that, Jun Shiling extended his hand to take Xia Wanyuan’s. The instant their palms met, Xia Wanyuan sensed the sweat on Jun Shiling’s hand.

Xia Wanyuan's uncertainty mounted. She peered back over her shoulder. “Where did the children go??”

“Why do you care about them??” Jun Shiling pulled Xia Wanyuan close and continued upward. “They’re not three-year-old children. How can they get lost??”

With Jun Shiling reassuring her like that, Xia Wanyuan dropped the subject and trailed him up the slope.

Dusk was approaching as the sun dipped low, bathing the mountains in a soft pinkish-purple hue that was utterly breathtaking.

Xia Wanyuan scanned her surroundings when suddenly, a piece of fabric blinded her eyes.

Xia Wanyuan tried to remove it, but Jun Shiling held her back. “Don’t move. Wait for me for a while.”

Xia Wanyuan stayed still and waited right there. Roughly a minute passed before the fabric was lifted, leaving her stunned by the spectacle around them.

They now stood in a valley encircled by lofty peaks. The once-green mountainside had transformed into a sea of red.

Roses blanketing the hills and valleys nearly painted the heavens crimson. Xia Wanyuan turned to Jun Shiling, who pulled out a tiny box with evident nerves and dropped to one knee.

“In front of everyone, I want to ask you, will you marry me?”

Such a proposal came extraordinarily late.
