Priceless Baby's Super Daddy Chapter 2769 - Love Comes Like The Southern Breeze (287)

~6 minute read · 1,424 words

“Ke’er, I need to ask you something.”

“What is it? Go ahead and tell me!”

Wen Ke’er settled herself down, her fingers gracefully smoothing her long hair.

Feng Yunan gazed directly into her eyes. “Do you know Wei Lingxiao?”

The sudden mention of Wei Lingxiao caused Wen Ke’er to flinch. She looked at Feng Yunan with surprise, unsure why he was inquiring about this individual. Had he gotten wind of something?

Regardless of the reason, Wen Ke’er knew she couldn't admit any connection to Wei Lingxiao. She quickly shook her head. “I’ve never heard that name before. Brother Nan, why do you ask?”

Feng Yunan could plainly see the untruth in her words.

He felt a profound disappointment!

What other secrets was Wen Ke’er keeping from him?

Instead of pressing further about Wei Lingxiao, Feng Yunan changed the subject. “Tell me again, how exactly did you save me back then?”

“Why are you asking this again? I’ve told you numerous times! That year, I was at Blue Sparrow Mountain and stumbled upon you in an abandoned mine. I managed to pull you out, which took considerable effort. Later, you gave me this jade pendant. That’s the whole story.”

Wen Ke’er even produced the jade pendant she wore around her neck, presenting it for his inspection.

Her account seemed correct, yet something felt amiss.

“Let me see the jade pendant.”

Feng Yunan extended his hand towards her. Wen Ke’er hesitated for a moment before removing the jade pendant from her neck and placing it into his palm.

The jade pendant was genuine, and she had no fear of him examining it, so Wen Ke’er confidently handed it over.

Feng Yunan examined the jade pendant closely, his mind replaying the events of that time. He considered that if it was indeed Wen Ke’er who had saved his life, he would let the matter concerning Wei Lingxiao go. He would simply consider it an act of repayment for her kindness.

With this thought, Feng Yunan spoke, “Ke’er, from this day forward, I will be taking this jade pendant back. Please do not contact me anymore.”

“Brother Nan, what do you mean? Are you… are you breaking up with me?”

The moment Wen Ke’er had dreaded most had finally arrived.

He was taking back the jade pendant and asking her to cease all contact – this clearly signified a complete end to their relationship, didn't it?

“Let’s leave it at that! I am a married man now. It would be best if we maintained no further contact.”

In that instant, Feng Yunan knew with clarity in his heart that he had made his decision. At the very least, he would not choose a woman who resorted to concealment and deception.

His sole sentiment towards her was one word: disappointment.

Feng Yunan departed, leaving her to watch his resolute figure recede.

“Brother Nan… Brother Nan…”

Despite Wen Ke’er’s desperate attempts to stop him, she was unable to hold him back.

She genuinely could not fathom why Feng Yunan suddenly wished to end their relationship. Could it be because of Qiao Ruoxi?

In the end, he had chosen Qiao Ruoxi, hadn't he?

Wen Ke’er felt an overwhelming sense of indignation. She refused to accept that she had been defeated by Qiao Ruoxi and lost Feng Yunan just like that!

After the end of the workday, Qiao Ruoxi remained at the design center, engrossed in her work. Such was her nature; once inspiration struck, she would continue drawing, foregoing both food and rest.

She hadn’t left even after the entire design center had emptied.

Feng Yunan also departed from the company quite late. He had been immersed in reviewing the past within his office.

When he finally shut down his computer, it was nearing 8 PM.

“Young Master, are you heading back now?” Xiu Yi inquired.

“I’m going home.”

Feng Yunan exited his office. Xiu Yi, catching up to him, remarked, “The Young Madam hasn't left yet either. Shall we ask her to join us?”

“Is she still working overtime?” Feng Yunan expressed a touch of surprise. Did this woman intend to exhaust herself? How long had she been working? Why hadn't she returned earlier to rest?

The elevator descended. Feng Yunan paused at the design center, observing the illuminated space. A slender figure was seated within, diligently writing and drawing.

“Ahem…”

Feng Yunan’s cough startled Qiao Ruoxi. She looked up, her eyes meeting Feng Yunan’s as he stood before her.

“President Feng?”

Qiao Ruoxi stood up abruptly, a sense of panic rising within her.

“What time is it? Pack up and get off work!” With that, Feng Yunan turned and walked away.

Qiao Ruoxi glanced at the clock. Good heavens, it was already past eight. She swiftly gathered her belongings and hurried after him, her bag in hand.

Xiu Yi had kept the elevator door open for her. Qiao Ruoxi entered, offering an apology, “I’m sorry, I completely lost track of time.”

Feng Yunan let out a deep sigh. “No matter how hard you work, you mustn’t forget you’re pregnant. Don’t you realize that sitting for extended periods is detrimental to the fetus?”

Beside them, Xiu Yi inwardly nodded. Yes, their Young Master was finally learning to show concern for others.

“I understand. I’ll be more careful next time.” Qiao Ruoxi acknowledged her oversight.

Feng Yunan remained silent. His gaze fixed on the few strands of hair atop her head, he wondered if she was truly the woman from five years ago.

After they had all settled into Feng Yunan’s car, Xiu Yi began the drive back to the Ocean Pavilion.

During their journey back, Feng Yunan couldn't refrain from posing a question: “Qiao Ruoxi, did you happen to visit Wenjing Garden five years ago?”

Qiao Ruoxi pondered for a moment, then shook her head. “No, I never went to Wenjing Garden back then. The only occasion I visited was during our recent trip.”

Feng Yunan pressed on, “Then how is it that you are familiar with the Wen family's dog, Princess? Or rather, how does Princess recognize you?”

“I’m not sure. Perhaps it’s my approachable nature,” Qiao Ruoxi responded without much detail.

“In that case, have you ever encountered the name Wen Chenxi?”

Qiao Ruoxi shook her head once more. “No, I haven’t heard of him. Who is he?”

A sigh escaped Feng Yunan.

It seemed unlikely to be Qiao Ruoxi after all!

She appeared to know nothing about it!

Feng Yunan sank into his thoughts, and Qiao Ruoxi, not wanting to disturb him, remained quiet. They spent the rest of the ride in peaceful silence.

Upon their return to the Ocean Pavilion, Feng Yunan exited the car first. As Qiao Ruoxi prepared to follow, her eyes caught sight of something he had left behind on the seat.

“Hey, Feng…”

Qiao Ruoxi reached for the item and discovered it was a jade pendant!

Instantly, she recognized it as the very same jade pendant worn by Wen Ke’er.

The sight of this jade pendant triggered a cascade of fragmented memories in Qiao Ruoxi's mind.

A fluffy white creature…

A strikingly handsome young man…

Eyes that sparkled with warmth…

Familiar words echoed in her recollection: “You saved me. This jade pendant is a gift for you. When you grow up, I will marry you…”

Feng Yunan had already alighted from the vehicle, but turning back, he noticed Qiao Ruoxi still seated inside. With a touch of impatience, he called out, “We’ve arrived. Why aren’t you getting out? Do you need me to carry you?”

Qiao Ruoxi’s gaze snapped up towards Feng Yunan, and she declared, “I remember now…”

“Remember what?”

“This jade pendant… I recognize it!”

Feng Yunan was taken aback. He walked back to the car and crouched beside it, inquiring further, “What did you remember?”

“This jade pendant is mine! Or rather, it was given to me by a little brother!”

Upon hearing this, Feng Yunan’s excitement was palpable. He grasped her hand, urging, “What else? Think harder. What else can you recall?”

“He promised to give me this jade pendant and said he would marry me in the future. But how can this jade pendant be yours? You gave it to Wen Ke’er. Is it possible that there is another identical jade pendant in existence?”
