Priceless Baby's Super Daddy Chapter 2 - A Born Actress
Previously on Priceless Baby's Super Daddy...
Following a night of intimacy, the hotel room door was forcefully opened. Xu Xiyan was jolted awake by the commotion. Upon opening her eyes, she found Xu Xinru and her father, Xu Jinshan, standing there. The man in the bed, only his back visible, and the disheveled state of the room were enough to send Xu Jinshan into a rage.
“You scoundrel! How dare you! Look at what you’ve done! You’ve tarnished my reputation!”
Xu Xinrou, secretly delighted at seeing Xu Xiyan caught in such a compromising situation, feigned a placating tone for Xu Jinshan. “Dad, please don’t be angry. It was just because Sister was drunk. She didn’t mean for this to happen! Please forgive her this once!”
“Forgive? How could I possibly have such a disgraceful daughter!” Xu Jinshan, a director by profession, prioritized his public image above all else. The sight of his daughter entangled with a man filled him with uncontrollable fury.
Facing her father and sister, Xu Xiyan remained unperturbed. She pulled the quilt tighter around herself and offered a smile.
“Dad! You should ask yourself the same question. I mean, like father, like daughter.”
Speaking of questionable relationships, Xu Jinshan had been the first to betray her mother. Her mother had passed away when Xu Xiyan was only six years old. Less than a month afterward, her father brought his mistress, Su Rui, and her daughter, Xu Xinrou—who was three years Xu Xiyan’s senior—into their home. From that moment on, Xu Jinshan’s once-heroic image in her eyes had completely shattered. It had been a long time since she had considered him her father. Learning that he was now willing to sell her off for fifty million yuan made her even more resolute in her refusal to acknowledge him as such. He was unworthy of the title of father. A true father would at least protect his child, but what had he done?
Xu Jinshan was taken aback by her words. “You… you’re trying to give me a heart attack!”
Xu Xiyan’s smile widened. “If you happen to pass away, I promise to send a magnificent wreath to commemorate your infamous reputation on Tomb-Sweeping Day next year.”
“You…!” Xu Jinshan felt his blood pressure surge. How had his once timid and weak daughter transformed into a completely different person?
Xu Xinrou quickly stepped in, holding onto Xu Jinshan, and attempted to mediate the escalating conflict with the persona of a dutiful daughter. “Yanyan, how can you speak to Dad like that! Apologize to him, and don’t make him angry anymore.”
Xu Xiyan scoffed internally. *Xu Xinrou, no wonder you insisted on acting. Turns out you’re a natural-born actress! Directing and performing all on your own. If you don’t win an award for best drama queen, your innocent ‘white lotus’ facade is utterly wasted.*
Did she expect an apology?
Absolutely not!
“Apologize for what? What did I do wrong? We’re all adults here.” Xu Xiyan, at eighteen, was already a university student. Given her talents and potential, she would have excelled had she pursued acting. However, her family had discouraged her from entering the entertainment industry to avoid competing with Xu Xinrou for resources. Furthermore, her mother’s death had instilled in her a deep aversion to the business. Consequently, Xu Xiyan had chosen to major in Chinese Language and Literature at Peijing University instead of a performing arts program.
Xu Xinrou continued to fan the flames. “Dad, Sister might just be trying to get more pocket money and resorted to such extremes. We can’t really blame her for that; we should give her more allowance later.”
The ‘white lotus sister’ act she was putting on was truly revolting.
“How much do you want? Don’t we have enough money? You… you sold yourself for money? You disappoint me so much,” Xu Jinshan declared, feigning deep regret. In reality, he and Xu Xinrou were merely putting on a show to conceal their illicit transaction, deliberately shifting all blame and fault onto her. They were twisting black into white and vice versa.
“Right, is the money you give me every month enough?” Xu Xiyan retorted, deliberately highlighting the absurdity. It was preposterous to suggest the Xu family provided her with a generous allowance. Ever since Su Rui took over managing the household, Xu Xiyan’s monthly living expenses had been a mere fraction of Xu Xinrou’s. If she hadn’t taken on part-time jobs during college, she might have starved. The second young lady of the Xu family sometimes received less than even a beggar on the street. The thought alone was heart-wrenching. If her mother were still alive, she wouldn’t have endured such misery and constant bullying. Unable to bear witness to the hypocritical father and daughter’s performance any longer, Xu Xiyan cast a glance at the sleeping man’s back. She deliberately placed her hand on his shoulder and addressed the two at the door, “If you don’t want the entire city to know about this, leave now. Don’t disturb us.”
“Shameless creature! When you return home, I will break your legs!” Xu Jinshan stormed out, kicking the door wider as he cursed.
“Yanyan, remember to come home early and give Dad an explanation.” Xu Xinrou offered her ‘kind’ reminder before departing. Though they left, Xu Xinrou had already arranged for the reporters lurking outside to capture exclusive photographs.
Next, she prepared a significant present for her sibling.
