Nox, overhearing his friends' conversation, resolves to return home for his wedding tomorrow despite his heartbreak over Shelly. Edward drives the drunk Nox back with Jeanne, who urges him to reconsider hasty marriage, but Nox insists it's necessary to move on. After placing Nox in bed, Edward grows jealous of Jeanne's concern, leading to a flirtatious moment interrupted by Nox awakening and complaining about their affection.

“I’m alive and awake. You guys should leave now. Don’t hurt your eyes in front of me,” Nox urged.

Jeanne bit her lips, a hint of awkwardness still lingering. Guilt gnawed at her heart as well. Nox was reeling from a fresh breakup, and there they were, flaunting their intimacy right in his face. They had definitely crossed the line. “If so, we’ll be leaving.” Jeanne tugged Edward toward the door.

Nox waved them off in farewell.

After Jeanne stepped out of his room, she dashed back inside suddenly. “Nox, think twice before getting married. If you don’t want to, just run away tomorrow.”

Nox stared silently at Jeanne, but the next instant, she got pulled away.

‘Damn it. He’s too possessive,’ Nox cursed to himself.

No one else could grasp the burning jealousy he felt toward them. He desperately wished to wrap Shelly in his arms and keep her by his side, even for a fleeting second. Unfortunately, it was all just wishful thinking.

Nox slipped into bed, hoping sleep would come. Yet his thoughts swirled endlessly with the image of Shelly, the one he had lost. He grabbed his phone, pulled up her number, and repeatedly psyched himself up to call—only to chicken out and hang up each time.

‘Forget it. It’s all over,’ he told himself.

Another call would probably just piss off Shelly.

At 6 a.m. the following morning, Nox sensed himself being jolted awake right as his eyes shut. His head throbbed painfully, and exhaustion weighed him down completely.

“Young Master Winter, it’s time to get ready. You have to head to the wedding venue shortly, and you can’t miss it,” the servant announced respectfully.

“Let me sleep for another hour. Isn’t it still early?”

“Your mother worried you’d laze in bed, so she ordered me to wake you early. You can rest a little longer; I’ll rouse you again soon.” “Okay. Now, go out.” Nox flicked his hand dismissively.

Once the servant departed, Nox rolled over to catch more sleep. But it eluded him now. He shot up from the bed, glanced at the clock, and flopped back down. This back-and-forth happened several times until Nox dragged himself upright for good.

He swung open the door and bellowed into the living room, “I’m up. Come in!”

A team of people soon entered Nox’s room. After he washed up, they swarmed around him, dressing him in a lavish black suit that enhanced his sophisticated charm.

Nox had always been strikingly handsome. Without any sloppiness, his allure was undeniable. Seeing him suited up with his hair neatly styled left everyone in the room breathless. “Young Master Winter, you’re so handsome!” “You’re the most handsome groom in the world.”

“Young Master Winter, this suit suits you very well.”

Nox checked his reflection in the mirror and admitted he looked sharp too. Still, did they need to overdo the flattery? He responded evenly, “Thank you.”

“Young Master Winter, you’re really handsome.”

“We say that from the bottom of our hearts.”

The group protested, but Nox had no energy to argue back.

As he admired himself in the mirror, a servant approached. “Young Master.”

“Yes.”

“The Old Master is looking for you.”

“My grandfather?” Nox frowned.

“Yes.”

Nox nodded. “I’ll be right there.”

“Yes.”

The servant then exited. Nox adjusted his outfit before trailing after to his grandfather’s study.

Old Master Winter’s condition had worsened steadily in recent years.

Occasionally, even talking left him gasping for air. Nox knew it well but kept quiet, scared to face the harsh truth.

To him, his grandfather embodied eternal strength. Now, though, he seemed like a once-radiant king reduced to a shadowed, lackluster figure.

Burying his feelings, he spoke lightly, “Old Master, were you looking for me?”

“I heard you’re getting married today.” Old Master Winter sat in his chair, eyeing Nox who still carried a defiant air.

“Yeah, I’m getting married again.” Nox wore a cocky grin. Old Master Winter brushed it off and pressed, “Not to Shelly?”

“No.” Nox shot back, “Your granddaughter-in-law this time is well-educated and virtuous. You’ll like her. I took a fancy to her at first sight. I promise she won’t embarrass me like Zoe!”
