Power of Runes Chapter 528: Dimensional Ruler (2)
Previously on Power of Runes...
The Infinite Dimensions were truly infinite, and the word "Infinite" in their name did not simply mean that no one had ever managed to traverse them in their entirety.
It was partly true.
But the main reason was that the Infinite Dimensions themselves were constantly changing, with new Dimensions being born while many others were being destroyed, making the entire expanse of existence something that could never truly be explored from beginning to end.
Even if someone was a Dimensional Ruler.
The title of Dimensional Ruler was given to those who had reached the highest level of cultivation known throughout the Infinite Dimensions.
A realm that represented the absolute peak that any known existence had ever managed to reach, and although many believed that something might exist beyond this level, no one had ever discovered what that realm could be or how one could possibly step into it.
Every Dimension could give birth to its own Dimensional Ruler, and within the Dimension where that existence had been born and cultivated, their authority could reach a level that made them almost Omnipotent and Omnipresent.
The Dimension itself would become an extension of their existence, allowing them to perceive and influence things that were completely beyond the understanding of ordinary beings.
But even then, not every Dimensional Ruler stood at the same height.
Two beings could both carry the title of Dimensional Ruler while possessing completely different levels of strength, because the realm itself only represented the highest known stage of cultivation, while the true gap between those who reached it could still be enormous.
And among all those who had ever reached that peak...
There had once been one existence who stood above almost everything else.
An existence whose name had once been known throughout countless Dimensions, whose authority had once reached a height that made other Dimensional Rulers cautious, and whose existence had eventually become nothing more than a forgotten shadow after an unimaginable amount of time had passed.
That existence was Arthur.
Or rather...
The Dimensional Ruler who had once been Arthur.
He had once stood at the peak of the Infinite Dimensions.
He had once ruled over a Dimension.
He had once reached the highest known realm of cultivation.
And yet, strangely enough, none of those realizations brought him the satisfaction that they should have.
Arthur slowly opened his eyes.

[Ash’s Rune Space] - [When Arthur started regaining his memories]
The moment Arthur’s memories finally began returning, something subtle changed within the Rune Space, and although Ash remained completely unaware of it as his consciousness was focused on the Rune of Time, the Wills of the Runes connected to him noticed the change almost immediately.
They had all felt it.
The quiet atmosphere surrounding the Runes shifted as a faint ripple passed through the invisible connection linking them together, and for several moments, none of the Wills spoke, because the thing they had been waiting for had finally begun happening far earlier than they had expected.
{...His memories are returning at a very fast pace.}
The voice of Harmony was still calm, but the usual warmth within it had almost disappeared, leaving behind a seriousness that was rare for the gentle Rune.
{It happened much faster than expected. How is he, with a human brain, managing to process so many memories this quickly?}
The Will of Stability sounded unusually quiet as it sensed the change through their connection, while the Will of Space remained silent for several moments before finally speaking.
{You are still underestimating him. He was not the strongest in the Infinite Dimensions, but he was definitely one of the strongest. Don’t forget, he might have regained some of his Authority too.}
{We know that.}
Truth’s voice entered the conversation with its usual confidence, yet even it lacked its normal teasing tone this time.
{The problem is not whether he remembered. The problem is that we don’t know how much he will remember and how much Authority he will regain.}
The Wills fell silent again as they continued sensing the changes through their connection, because they could feel Arthur’s awakening, and the reason they could do so was because Arthur was also in possession of a Rune.
{He has the Rune of Fate with him, the worst one among us. He is very unpredictable. There is a 99% chance he would tell ’him’ about the location of Ash just to see what this action would lead to.}
{That bastard is ungrateful and selfish. I’m sure he might actually prefer to remain separated rather than becoming whole again.}
Harmony’s Will immediately responded.
{Ash’s preparations are still falling short. The Rune of Fate is much higher in Tier than me, and I won’t be able to block its probing. If it tries to locate us, I can’t stop it. None of us can, even if we reach ten percent comprehension.}
{And Ash does not possess any Rune of the same Tier as the Rune of Fate.}
If Ash were hearing the discussion of the Runes, he would have been shocked, because his theorized Rune Tier categorization would have immediately begun falling apart.
In reality, he did not even possess the highest-Tier Rune with him at all.
{Which is why I told him to comprehend me.}
Time’s voice remained completely calm as it continued.
{He needs to reach ten percent before the situation becomes irreversible.}
{Although we won’t be able to stop the probing of the Rune of Fate completely, using the me, Ash could escape into the River of Time. I’m sure even that bastard would hesitate before entering the River of Time.}
{But he will still come, and the game of cat and mouse would begin. This is the only path Ash could take to collect the other Runes. If he can’t collect the Runes in the present Timeline, he will have to take them from the past.}
{Although he would have to face a large amount of Entropy. It could eventually be solved if he gets the Rune of Entropy.}
{Though even that future is looking grim, as he is still only at 7%.}
Harmony’s response carried a faint trace of frustration, because unlike Ash, who had no idea what was happening, the Wills understood exactly how dangerous the current situation could become once Arthur’s memories completely returned.
{Seven percent is not enough.}
Truth gave a quiet hum.
{Now it’s a race, whether he will comprehend the Rune enough to enter the River of Time first, or Arthur decides to act against Ash as soon as he gets his memories back. That will decide what happens.}
Space’s Will spoke from somewhere within the Rune Space, its voice low and serious.
{The timing is too close.}
There was another brief silence.
Then Time spoke again.
{We need to make sure he doesn’t stop.}
{He won’t.}
Time answered.
{Not after what I told him.}
A faint sense of amusement finally appeared within Truth’s voice.
{You should have seen his face when you told him someone was coming for him.}
Harmony seemed slightly irritated.
{This is not the time to tease him.}
{I am not teasing him.}
Truth paused before adding,
{I’m simply saying that telling someone, "The being who sealed us is returning," just before vanishing and refusing to explain anything is a rather effective way of making them work harder.}
{And you suggested we tell him?}
{No.}
Truth’s voice became quiet for a moment.
{Because if he knew too much now, he might make choices based on information he isn’t ready to understand yet.}
The Rune Space fell silent once again, because that was the part none of them could ignore.
Ash was still unaware.
He didn’t know who Arthur was.
He didn’t know what was returning.
He didn’t know why the Rune Wills were worried.
And most importantly, he didn’t know that the one currently recovering his memories had once stood at the very peak of the Infinite Dimensions.
{Let us hope he reaches 10% before Arthur reaches him. Otherwise, it would all be for nothing.}
