Permanent Martial Arts Chapter 1974: Endless Cycle!
Previously on Permanent Martial Arts...
“I have finally returned…” Lin Feng let out a heavy, lingering sigh.
He wandered through the library with a casual gait. His gaze flickered with deep emotion, though his expression remained complex.
In truth, Lin Feng was currently evaluating his physical condition.
Fragile. Indeed, his body was exceptionally weak at this moment.
He was currently plagued by the strange illness he had carried since childhood, a malady that left him with very little time to remain among the living.
Lin Feng had traversed directly from the Eternal Realm back into his own history. Every ounce of his former power—his medium chiliocosm, his profound mastery of spacetime, and even supreme treasures like the spacetime prison—was gone!
They had vanished entirely, leaving not a single trace behind.
Lin Feng even found himself questioning if his entire journey had been nothing more than a vivid, fleeting dream.
Yet, those memories were etched too deeply into his soul. Lin Feng could never forget his identity as a spacetime cultivator. He had already achieved the feat of severing both the future and the present.
If he wished to achieve true transcendence now, the only remaining step was to sever the past.
I must keep this thought anchored in my mind! Lin Feng resolved inwardly.
According to the explanations of the white-haired old man, warping back to the past meant being crushed by the weight of history. One’s power would evaporate, resulting in a state much like rebirth.
However, this was not a true "rebirth" in the traditional sense. The inertia of time would slowly begin to assimilate Lin Feng, continuing until he was swallowed by total oblivion.
Having just arrived in this era, Lin Feng could not yet feel the tug of assimilation. Consequently, he had not yet begun to sink into the void.
“Yes, this is the exact spot!”
Lin Feng halted before a specific row of bookshelves. He possessed a vivid memory of the genetic fusion device that had once altered the course of his destiny being hidden here. If his recollections were accurate, the device would certainly be present.
Taking a steadying breath, Lin Feng began pulling books from the shelf.
“The metal sphere actually exists here!”
Lin Feng spotted a metallic ball resting silently upon the shelf. It was identical to the genetic fusion device from his "memories." This served as proof; he truly was a spacetime cultivator who had journeyed back from the future.
In his original life, Lin Feng had used this sphere and the genetic fusion device to rise to prominence. It had allowed him to conquer his sickness, shatter his genetic lock, and finally set foot upon the path of Cultivation.
Back then, Lin Feng had viewed the genetic fusion device as an incredibly potent and sophisticated tool.
Now, however, Lin Feng was a spacetime cultivator from a future era. His mind contained countless secret techniques that were infinitely more powerful than a simple genetic fusion device.
Naturally, he no longer had any use for the device itself.
Lin Feng had only sought it out as a means of verification.
With the confirmation complete, Lin Feng knew for certain he was a traveler from the future. He chose not to activate the genetic fusion device. Instead, he replaced the books on the shelf, concealing the metal ball once more.
He would leave it for whoever was destined to find it. For him, it was entirely unnecessary.
With that, Lin Feng made his way back home.
The Lin family, his younger sister, his parents—everything was so familiar and heart-warming. It was exactly as Lin Feng remembered it.
In a sense, Lin Feng had been "reborn." He held knowledge of the "past" spacetime’s trajectory and knew that his home planet would eventually face a dire catastrophe.
Thus, Lin Feng selected several formidable cultivation techniques from his vast future memories.
Within a mere few days, he had already shattered the genetic lock and was progressing rapidly through the stages.
Regarding the incident where Zhao Ping kidnapped his sister—since Lin Feng had been "reborn," there was no way he would allow her to suffer. Consequently, Lin Feng simply gave Zhao Ping a direct and brutal lesson.
The power he displayed was overwhelming. Even the martial artists who had broken the genetic lock and served the Zhao family were powerless against him.
The timeline appeared to be shifting.
Lin Feng felt a surge of triumph. Who claimed the past was immutable? As a reborn soul, the very act of returning meant he was already reshaping the future.
Lin Feng’s power ascended until he surpassed even the Sages. The looming threat to his home planet was brushed aside with ease.
He used various methods to compensate his old friends and ensured that the errors of his past never repeated. The fate of his entire world seemed to have been rewritten by his hand, diverging completely from the "memories" he held.
Lin Feng remained driven. He understood clearly that the safety of a single planet did not guarantee the safety of the universe. Universal peace did not protect the Chaos. And even if the Chaos were secure, the medium chiliocosm could still fall.
Having lost his "future" strength, he had to painstakingly "cultivate" his way back to the summit, one step at a time.
Everything appeared flawless.
His family lived in joy, and his civilization began its expansion into the cosmos. Lin Feng’s Cultivation speed was many times faster than it had been in his "memory." Everything had changed.
Yet, without realizing it, Lin Feng seemed to have become entirely woven into the fabric of this spacetime.
He poured his soul into his Cultivation. He fought tirelessly to shield his kin. He aimed for the absolute peak.
While everything seemed transformed, in another sense… nothing had changed at all!
In his previous life, whether by choice or necessity, Lin Feng had also journeyed from his planet to the stars, through the Chaos, and eventually became a spacetime cultivator.
What of the "reborn" Lin Feng?
He was still leaving his home, the universe, and the Chaos behind. At most, he was simply doing it faster. Was he not still crawling toward the same peak, step by step?
What was the fundamental difference between this version and the Lin Feng of old?
Lin Feng, however, failed to see this. He continued his journey. Guided by his knowledge of the future, his Cultivation path was incredibly smooth. It took only a short duration before he once again stood within the Eternal Realm.
There, Lin Feng encountered the white-haired old man once more.
The old man looked at Lin Feng, his eyes clouded with a mixture of regret and disappointment.
Ultimately, that look dissolved into a weary sigh.
“You… have returned.”
“What? You…” Lin Feng felt as though he had been struck by a physical blow.
It was true. He was back.
He had arrived once more at the Eternal Realm.
He had gone to the past, so why was he standing here again?
Lin Feng remembered everything perfectly; he hadn't lost himself to oblivion. Could this truly be considered a failure?
“Senior… did I fail?” Lin Feng whispered, his voice trembling with disbelief.
“You have returned to the Eternal Realm. How can that be anything but failure? Oblivion does not require you to forget. Reflect on your original purpose for returning to the past. You sought to transcend spacetime. Yet, after all your struggles, you have ended up back in the Eternal Realm like a closed loop. You will simply return to the past again, over and over, repeating the cycle for eternity. If this is not sinking into oblivion, then what is?"
The white-haired old man shook his head slowly.
He had witnessed this exact scene countless times before.
Once, he had believed Lin Feng showed promise, possessing perhaps a glimmer of hope for true transcendence.
But it seemed he had placed too much faith in the young man.
Even Lin Feng had succumbed!
To be trapped in an endless cycle of returning to the past… that was the true meaning of sinking into oblivion!
