Peerless Martial Soul Chapter 6034: Weird and scary!

In a flash, Chen Feng gained a clear view of the group's composition.
Beside the blue-clad youth who had initially confronted him, the party consisted of two men and a woman. One man possessed a towering frame and a brutal countenance, while the other was somewhat stout, wearing a perpetual grin that made him appear the most approachable of the lot.
The woman was draped in a crimson dress, her presence as intense as a flickering flame.
Chen Feng opened his mouth to speak, but his brow suddenly furrowed. Directing his gaze behind the young man in blue, he barked a warning: "Watch out! There is something right behind you!"
Despite his urgency, the four remained completely indifferent to his shout.
The youth in blue merely tightened his posture, shifting into a defensive stance as his aura surged and radiated outward. Meanwhile, the tall man with the fierce face let out a mocking snort, his expression full of contempt.
"I’ve encountered this pathetic ruse far too many times," he sneered. "You're just trying to divert my attention."
Taking a menacing step forward, a massive sword materialized in his grip. He leveled the blade at Chen Feng and demanded coldly:
"Give me the truth. Are you a spy dispatched by the Tianmo Zhen Sect? Did you sneak into our Forbidden Forest to steal our secrets?"
Chen Feng’s frown deepened.
He noted that at the mention of the Tianmo Zhen Sect, the other three members of the party grew visibly tense. It was clear that this sect was a hated and formidable rival to their own.
This tall youth was obviously acting with malice, attempting to pin a treasonous crime on him without evidence. Chen Feng prepared to retort, but suddenly recoiled a few steps, his eyes widening as if he had glimpsed a ghost.
His focused gaze was fixed on the space directly beside the tall youth!
The tall man, however, only laughed disdainfully. "Still pretending? If you won't talk, I’ll silence you forever with my blade!"
But in the following heartbeat, his arrogant shout was cut short by a muffled grunt. The sound devolved into a strangled sob before vanishing entirely within his throat.
Chen Feng watched closely, his brow knitted in concentration.
From his perspective, the tall youth’s facial expression hadn't changed at all—he still looked as haughty as before. Yet, the light in his eyes extinguished in an instant.
The life force within his body drained away at a terrifying speed. A moment later, his heavy frame collapsed to the earth, his breathing ceased forever.
He was dead.
This warrior had been reasonably powerful, possessing a Cultivation only slightly inferior to Chen Feng’s own. To think he could be extinguished in such a brief moment!
The sudden thud of the body hitting the ground sent a wave of shock through the remaining survivors. Only then did they realize that Chen Feng’s warning had been no lie.
Observing their frantic reactions, Chen Feng realized that despite their high Cultivation, these people lacked real-world experience. They were clearly at a loss when faced with such an inexplicable horror.
He raised his voice to command their attention: "Listen to me! I am Chen Feng, and I truly harbor no ill intent toward you."
"In the face of such a terrifying foe, our only hope is to cooperate. Why don't the four of us stand back-to-back and confront this enemy together?"
The leader in blue gave a sharp nod. Instantly, the three survivors shifted their positions, forming a defensive circle with Chen Feng, their eyes scanning the perimeter with intense focus.
A small sense of relief washed over them. The blue-clad youth spoke in a low, serious tone: "I am Ye Changgeng."
He gestured toward the smiling, stout man. "This is Li Fu." Then, indicating the woman in red, he added, "And she is Han Qingjing."
Li Fu offered Chen Feng a friendly, albeit nervous, smile. Han Qingjing, however, kept her cold gaze fixed outward as she muttered, "If Zhao Man hadn't been so obsessed with threatening this stranger, he wouldn't have been picked off by that star beast so easily. This newcomer bears half the blame for Zhao Man’s death."
Ye Changgeng cut her off sharply. "This is no time for blame. We have to deal with this star beast first."
"Did any of you actually see what it did?"
Li Fu shook his head. "Nothing. It felt like Zhao Man was snuffed out in an instant—silently, without any warning at all."
Han Qingjing looked pensive. "I’ve studied the Sect’s records, and I’ve never seen a death like that. Could this be an undiscovered star beast? Something not yet documented?"
Ye Changgeng’s expression turned grim. "It's possible. The Forbidden Forest is filled with endless perils; it’s no surprise that a new breed of star beast might emerge."
Li Fu nodded in agreement. "True. Especially since there's something deep within the Forbidden Forest that—"
He was silenced by a sharp glare from Han Qingjing before he could finish. Realizing his slip-up, Li Fu immediately went quiet.
It was obvious they were guarding secrets they didn't want Chen Feng to overhear. Chen Feng observed them silently, piecing together the situation.
He surmised that these individuals were likely elite disciples of their Sect who had ventured into this restricted area for a specific purpose, only to find themselves hunted. Thinking to himself, he sighed: *Star beast... it seems these creatures are unique to this world. They are powerful and far more bizarre than any monster beasts I’ve fought before.*
Because his usual sensory abilities seemed suppressed in this realm, he couldn't accurately gauge their power. He spoke up: "Since we are fighting this star beast as a team, we shouldn't hide our capabilities. Please, show me the extent of your strength."
Ye Changgeng agreed, "That’s only fair."
He immediately released his aura. In an instant, a powerful pressure surged forth, so intense that Chen Feng felt a flicker of genuine dread. Ye Changgeng’s Cultivation was actually superior to his own.
Li Fu and Han Qingjing followed suit, revealing auras that were only a fraction weaker than Chen Feng’s.
"I am at the third level of Shangqingtian," Ye Changgeng explained, "while they are both at the second level."
A cold chill ran down Chen Feng’s spine. He quickly asked, "What about Zhao Man? What was his level?"
Ye Changgeng replied solemnly, "He was just below me, but stronger than the others—somewhere between the second and third levels of Shangqingtian."
Chen Feng was struck with horror. By his own estimation, his current power was roughly equivalent to the third level of Shangqingtian. This meant that Zhao Man, who was nearly as strong as he was, had been slaughtered instantly!
What kind of monster was this star beast? What level of existence could it be? Even with his skills, he hadn't sensed its arrival or seen it manifest behind them. It had effortlessly picked off a high-level cultivator right in front of them.
Suddenly, Li Fu—who had been smiling just moments ago—stiffened. His cheerful expression remained frozen on his face, his eyes bulging. He died without even a chance to scream.
Li Fu was gone.
Goosebumps erupted across Chen Feng’s skin as a wave of primal fear took hold. He had underestimated the threat of these star beasts. He hadn't felt any unusual Qi in the area, and because his perception was clouded, he hadn't truly respected the strength of his companions.
This star beast was a silent phantom. After killing once, it had the audacity to strike again while they were on high alert, claiming another life right under their noses!
Though Zhao Man and Li Fu were slightly below him in Cultivation, they were by no means weak. In this world’s Daoist ranking, they were formidable experts of the Shangqingtian realm. Yet they fell like wheat to a scythe, unable to even twitch a finger in resistance.
The scene was utterly chilling. But the most terrifying part was the mystery: Chen Feng still had no idea how they were being killed.
