Peerless Martial God Chapter 2494 - Conspiracy
Previously on Peerless Martial God...
Lin Feng continued residing in the Continent of the Nine Clouds, staying in a simple thatched hut in Fortune City.
Right now, he found himself immersed in his personal world. The sky stood shattered, with Qi constantly flowing into the Star World, as Lin Feng’s body was located there.
“A hundred years have gone by, yet I still haven’t healed,” Lin Feng sighed. A century back, Icefire had shattered his world and inflicted severe wounds on him. No matter the power Lin Feng employed, he couldn’t mend it. This wasn’t merely an external wound, since his world formed part of his very being, akin to his vital organs. That was precisely why he rarely battled within his small world.
That clash had wrecked his world. Lin Feng had succeeded in wounding Icefire as well, but it wasn’t a fair trade. Currently, Lin Feng lay gravely hurt, his strength likely no greater than that of a typical peerless Saint. Over those years, he had first grown powerful within his own world and then in the external one. His power originated from there, from deep within himself!
In the sky pavilion, Lin Feng and the old ox sat opposite each other. The old ox along with a handful of top bestial Saints from the Star World were the sole visitors to his world.
“Brother Ox, I’ve attempted recovery for a hundred years without success. Is this my fate?” Lin Feng inquired calmly. Despite his severe injuries, he preserved his composure.
“This presents a fine chance for you. You’re fortunate; since it’s destroyed, you can reconstruct it stronger,” the old ox grinned. “Yet yin and yang Qi holds incredible might. Your inner world contains a darkened sky, yellow earth, comprehension of the five elements’ power, space strength, time strength... Grasping yin and yang strength would perfect your world.”
“Yin and yang serves as the origin of every strength... With Icefire’s mastery of yin and yang strength, does that make him a true god? A cultivator at the Shen layer?”
“Though I’m unaware of what the Shen Layer entails, I’m certain he isn’t one.”
“Brother Ox, in the past, you hinted that the Shen layer linked to immortality. Were you serious?”
“My Master mentioned that long ago. Perhaps it meant passing knowledge to a successor. I can’t say for sure,” the old ox smiled. “You seem downcast now. Vast upheavals have shaken the Continent of the Nine Clouds. Focus on cultivation and stay serene. Simply seclude yourself. Countless individuals search for you across the Continent of the Nine Clouds.”
“Understood,” Lin Feng nodded. Gazing upon his fractured world, he whispered, “My cultivation path has always diverged from others’. Perhaps fusing various strengths into techniques isn’t suited for me. I’ve grasped time strength, five elements, space strength, capable of creating anything like a true god. I should delve into yin and yang. That would allow me to repair my world and elevate it. It would evolve into a genuine world, possessing all elements needed for a complete one.”
“That’s a valid perspective, but without merging those strengths, how could you battle peerless Saints?” the old ox encouraged.
Lin Feng nodded in agreement. It looks like I must master one more strength, then harness destiny’s power to alter everything, he pondered, lifting his gaze to the heavens. His eyes gleamed sharply. Amid trials, his determination burned fierce!
“Father!” Zhe Tian called out then.
“What’s the state of affairs in the Continent of the Nine Clouds?” Lin Feng questioned.
“The three Kings maintain their truce, while other powers face constant suppression. As for your allies, foes still hunt them, but since you directed them to other worlds, locating them proves nearly impossible,” Zhe Tian responded steadily. Lin Feng nodded to him.
“Someone approaches!” the old ox warned suddenly. Lin Feng exited his world and opened his eyes externally. A striking man stood nearby, masked, concealing his features.
“Brother!” Lin Feng smiled in greeting.
Hou Qing Lin returned the smile. “Lin Feng, who would’ve guessed you’d linger entirely in Fortune City. Such audacity!”
“The riskiest spots often prove the securest,” Lin Feng chuckled. His expression hardened as a horrifying Qi surged through the air. Numerous figures emerged. Hou Qing Lin’s countenance grew ashen.
How could this be? As a peerless Saint, Hou Qing Lin would’ve sensed any tail.
“Lin Feng, depart,” Hou Qing Lin urged, positioning himself before Lin Feng.
“Brother, Icefire nears soon. We must flee,” Lin Feng stated.
“Escape them? Impossible. Lin Feng, as your fellow disciple, obey me—go now,” Hou Qing Lin insisted, glancing back.
“I’ll hold them off; you escort Lin Feng away,” the old ox declared upon arriving.
Hou Qing Lin looked astonished. Lin Feng nodded. “Brother Ox possesses sufficient strength.”
“Fine,” Hou Qing Lin consented. His form blurred, and together with Zhe Tian and Lin Feng, they vanished. The old ox’s roar echoed: “Time!”
Time slowed drastically, halting the pursuers in their tracks.
Hou Qing Lin and Zhe Tian spirited Lin Feng away. He turned to Lin Feng. “I’m certain no one trailed me. How did they materialize abruptly?”
“They foresaw it,” Lin Feng replied.
Hou Qing Lin froze, querying, “You knew? Then why act not?”
“I sought confirmation of my suspicions, and they proved true,” Lin Feng clarified. Hou Qing Lin marveled at the response.
Nearby powerhouses unleashed formidable Qi. “I’ll handle it!” Zhe Tian reacted swiftly, summoning his ultimate weapon, the Sky Destroying Sword.
“Time, freeze!” Zhe Tian commanded. Time halted. Hou Qing Lin stood stunned.
“This young Zhe Tian wields the same strength as his father? Incredible prowess!” He beheld the Sky Destroying Sword plummeting, cleaving a peerless Saint asunder.
“You’re fortunate indeed. Your master excelled, your talent shines, mastering myriad strengths. How could you not rise extraordinary?” Lin Feng grinned. “Fret not over my son’s safety. He holds a life-preserving technique.”
“Alright,” Hou Qing Lin exhaled.
——
Amid the Fortune Shrine’s ruins, an elder sat cross-legged. His robes hung in tatters, yet he appeared pristine. Eyes shut, he radiated serenity.
A silhouette gradually materialized beside him.
“Leader, you’ve returned!” the newcomer gasped. The seated elder was none other than the Fortune Shrine Leader.
“My teacher foretold a calamity befalling me, astoundingly naming you as its source. I was baffled, unable to fathom why you lagged as a peerless Saint until you schemed amid Lin Feng’s arrival. Now it’s clear,” the Fortune Shrine Leader stated evenly.
“Leader, you overthink. I don’t grasp your return.”
“Destiny decreed disaster; why evade it? You devoted yourself to the Forbidden Body, risking all to nurture him. Why?”
“In the Continent of the Nine Clouds, don’t all beings share one aim?” the figure countered.
“Yet you could’ve seized control of his life. Why delay?”
“Unforeseen matters arose,” the figure sighed. “Enough—today, I’ll wield the strength you imparted to erase you. Die satisfied.”
Dreadful power enveloped the Fortune Shrine Leader: disaster celestial destiny strength! White flashes crackled across his form.
“Eh?” The assailant scowled, face rigid. “Why not fight back?”
The Fortune Shrine Leader’s eyes opened, a tranquil smile forming. “Doom awaits me. I choose death to ascend as a martial god.”
His body burst into radiance, vanishing entirely. His slayer’s expression turned grim.
——
Abruptly, Lin Feng halted. He produced a talisman, now shattered. Grief welled within him. To think, he had struck the Shrine Leader back then!
“Brother, proceed ahead,” Lin Feng instructed Hou Qing Lin.
Hou Qing Lin’s face tightened. “Lin Feng, don’t belittle me,” he smiled. How could he abandon him?
“Very well, brother. Enter my world for cultivation. I must meet someone,” Lin Feng relented. Qi enveloped Hou Qing Lin, whisking him away into Lin Feng’s world.
Soon after, a figure approached Lin Feng: Saintly Emperor Xi the Demon.
“Come with me,” he said calmly to Lin Feng.
“To where?” Lin Feng inquired.
“The Supreme Ancient Pit of Hell. There, we’ll rouse the ancient demon king, defier of worldly laws, unleashing rivers of blood across the Continent of the Nine Clouds.”
“And if I refuse?” Lin Feng challenged.
“You are me. I am you. We’re one. If I go, so do you,” Saintly Emperor Xi the Demon affirmed resolutely. Lin Feng smiled, offering no rebuttal.
“Grant me one hour; I’ll join you,” Lin Feng replied coolly.
“Agreed,” Saintly Emperor Xi the Demon nodded.
