Peach Blossom Divine Medical God Chapter 2365 - 2321: Jinx
Previously on Peach Blossom Divine Medical God...
There really did seem to be something off about that little girl.
Like that sandstorm, and the whole family being slaughtered.
But as for saying that massacre had anything to do with the little girl, Chen Yang still didn’t really believe it.
Because he’d just seen the little girl’s eyes.
Pure and spotless, clean to the point they couldn’t be any cleaner.
How could someone like that possibly kill anyone?
There had to be some kind of misunderstanding here.
"That’s about all there is to her story. You two customers eat first, I’ve got work to do."
After finishing, the waiter didn’t stay any longer. He cracked a smile, said a couple of words, then hurried off to deal with other things.
"That’s way too exaggerated. Every time she goes to a new home, that home gets wiped out. Don’t tell me she really is some kind of jinx." Tu Qi joked.
"I don’t think so. That little girl looks really clean, doesn’t seem like some kind of jinx." Chen Yang shook his head.
"Maybe." Tu Qi chuckled and didn’t bother paying it more attention.
He lowered his head and kept eating.
But for some reason, Chen Yang suddenly lost his appetite. He got up ahead of time, went upstairs, and returned to his room.
Chen Yang wasn’t planning to rush into the desert. Instead, he intended to stay around here for a couple of days, to really get to know the Teta Desert.
The Teta Desert stretched for thousands of miles, with countless dangers hidden within.
If you didn’t take the time to understand it, big problems would come easy.
Even though his strength was formidable, at the Late-stage Condensation Pill Realm, in the extraordinarily perilous Teta Desert, that didn’t amount to much.
Leaving aside natural forces like sandstorms and quicksand.
The roaming bandits in the desert, and the demon beasts that lived there, were all extremely powerful existences.
It wasn’t a place you could enter lightly.
Best to gather some information first before going in; that would be ideal.
That was Chen Yang’s plan.
Once he reached the room on the second floor, Chen Yang sat down cross-legged and entered a cultivation state.
After he’d sunk into cultivation for roughly several hours, the street outside suddenly erupted with a very noisy commotion.
It jolted him out of his cultivation.
He got up instinctively and walked out.
At the same moment he pushed the door open, the door to the neighboring room opened as well, and Tu Qi stepped out.
Like Chen Yang, he’d come out because he heard the noise outside.
"What’s going on? How come the street’s so noisy this late at night?" Tu Qi looked baffled.
"We’ll know once we go down and take a look."
Saying that, Chen Yang headed downstairs.
On the first floor, all the staff were standing at the doorway, craning their necks toward one direction, watching like there was some kind of spectacle.
"What are you all looking at? What’s going on outside, why is it so loud?" Chen Yang brought Tu Qi over and asked.
"Oh, it’s you two customers." The waiter smiled politely when he saw them, then quickly explained, "There’s big trouble in town again. That little girl I told you about this afternoon, you remember her?"
"I remember. What about her?"
"Don’t tell me someone else has been killed in town?"
Tu Qi was just making an offhand comment, but to his surprise, the waiter stared at him and said in astonishment, "Customer, how did you know?"
"Seriously? Someone really got killed?" Now it was Tu Qi’s turn to be shocked.
"Yeah, another whole family got slaughtered. Not a single one escaped. And the uncanny thing is, that jinx was at the scene again." The waiter nodded, his expression a bit strange.
Chen Yang and Tu Qi exchanged a look, their faces full of disbelief.
There was really something this bizarre?
"Come on, let’s go take a look." After thinking briefly, Chen Yang decided to go check it out.
"Alright."
Tu Qi was also very curious about what exactly was going on, so he went out of the shop with Chen Yang and headed to the scene.
The scene of the incident wasn’t far from the shop; it was on the same street.
And the commotion over there was huge. Following the sound, Chen Yang and Tu Qi arrived in no time.
When they got there, Chen Yang first saw a crowd of onlookers gathered around, whispering to each other as they stared at the house that had been wiped out.
"So tragic, the whole family was killed, not a single one survived."
"I really don’t know if it’s because of that jinx."
"It has to be. Think about it carefully—ever since that jinx came to our town, have we had a single peaceful day?"
"Now that you mention it, yeah. Our town used to be fine, deaths were rare, let alone such annihilation cases."
...
Everyone was talking at once, and all the blame was aimed at that little girl.
Chen Yang and Tu Qi listened for a bit, then squeezed forward, edging into the crowd to see the carnage.
The family’s house faced the main street; right now, several corpses were lying in the front hall.
There were large bloodstains on the walls and all over the floor.
The victims’ bodies were covered in gaping wounds.
With just a cursory glance, Chen Yang could tell these people had been suddenly cut down by someone using a sharp weapon; otherwise there wouldn’t be so much blood.
Nor would their wounds be that massive.
His gaze swept across the scene, then shifted, and soon he spotted that little girl again.
The little girl’s clothes were stained with blood. She stood in the middle of the courtyard, looking utterly lost. In her pair of clear eyes, tears were still swirling.
Meanwhile, the people around her were all pointing fingers.
"We can’t let this jinx stay. Otherwise our Lingsha Town will never know peace."
"We have to get rid of her. If last time was a coincidence, then what’s this time? It can’t still be a coincidence, right?"
"Exactly, we absolutely can’t keep this jinx."
...
The crowd was worked up, every accusation aimed at the little girl. From the way they talked, their intention was clearly to have her dealt with.
There were also people at the scene in charge of handling the case.
A few government officers were maintaining order.
One middle-aged man, who seemed to be the person in charge, heard everyone directing their anger at the little girl. His eyes flashed, and he immediately ordered his subordinates, "Go restrain that jinx. Tomorrow afternoon, we’ll execute her publicly in front of the entire town."
His subordinates didn’t hesitate in the slightest. They strode forward and quickly seized the timid little girl.
"Wuu, wuu... it wasn’t me, it’s not my fault. Uncle and Auntie weren’t killed by me." The little girl burst into sobs, her big eyes streaming with tears, making her look pitiful in the extreme.
But not a single person at the scene felt sorry for her. They were even quite satisfied with the government officers’ decision.
Of course, that satisfaction only showed on their faces; no one said it out loud.
"Alright, everyone disperse. Tomorrow our town mayor will personally oversee the execution and give everyone an explanation." After taking the little girl into custody, the middle-aged man waved his hand at once, signaling the crowd to leave.
The people around didn’t protest either; they simply started leaving one after another.
Chen Yang and Tu Qi were stunned by what they’d just witnessed.
Something this serious, and that was all the ’handling’ it got?
The government officer mayor’s attitude was slapdash enough, but even the ordinary folks didn’t say much?
After all, nobody actually knew whether the little girl was the killer. If she wasn’t, that meant the real killer was still nearby.
This kind of tragedy could happen again.
Weren’t these people even a little worried that something like this might befall them next?
Chen Yang was deeply puzzled, while Tu Qi was outright angry. Seeing that the mayor, just to quiet things down, was going to take the little girl away without even conducting an investigation, he couldn’t bear it.
