Chen Yang agrees to Liu Ruyan's price for retrieving an item deep within the mountains. They set off immediately and travel into the dangerous wilderness. Chen Yang suspects Liu Ruyan might be the Five Poisons Cult Hierarch he encountered earlier but finds no proof. Upon reaching a location inhabited by a powerful spiritual beast, Liu Ruyan reveals they must go deeper, but first, she intends to seek vengeance. She leads Chen Yang to a pool beside a large tree, where a mighty monkey appears, enraged by their presence, and Liu Ruyan attacks.

Bam!!

The ape was completely taken by surprise, never anticipating Liu Ruyan’s direct assault. A fierce kick landed squarely on the ape’s face, sending it tumbling to the ground with blood trickling from its lip! This blow was exceptionally potent, leaving the already disoriented ape in an even more stunned state. By the time it managed to shake its head and rise, Liu Ruyan had already repositioned herself, standing a good five meters away.

Liu Ruyan’s gaze was piercing, completely devoid of the vulnerability she had shown earlier. Chen Yang, observing from the sidelines, felt his own vigilance heighten. 'She's incredibly powerful,' he mused, recognizing that if she had truly committed to the fight, the ape would likely already be a lifeless corpse. Yet, for reasons unknown, after subduing the ape with her decisive strike, Liu Ruyan chose to create distance rather than press her advantage.

'At minimum, in the late Spirit Gathering Realm, the ape is no match,' Chen Yang thought, narrowing his eyes.

Roar!!

Blinded by pure rage, the ape failed to comprehend that it could not defeat Liu Ruyan. As it struggled to regain its footing, its fury intensified, its eyes turning a bloodshot crimson! 'I will kill you! I'll tear you limb from limb!' the ape bellowed, its muscles bulging as it charged at Liu Ruyan, seeking to retaliate.

'Hmph, you overestimate your own abilities,' Liu Ruyan scoffed coldly. Raising her arm, three silver needles, crackling with spiritual energy, swiftly shot forth. The ape barreled forward, and the silver needles met it head-on. Puff, puff, puff... In mere moments, the needles pierced its body, leaving three parallel bloody gashes. Roar!!

The impact of the three potent silver needles caused the ape immense agony. It collapsed to the ground, emitting pained yelps. Despite this, consumed by its berserk fury, it still attempted to lunge at Liu Ruyan. The ape's cultivation was only at the early stage of the Spirit Gathering Realm, entirely outmatched by Liu Ruyan. Her previous predicament was due to external factors, but this time, no such restraints existed, leaving the ape utterly defenseless.

'Beast, will you submit?' Liu Ruyan’s expression was glacial as she fixed her gaze on the writhing ape. 'Dream on!!' The ape, equally stubborn, remained defiant and unwilling to yield, even when faced with overwhelming power.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh... Seeing the ape’s refusal, Liu Ruyan uttered no further words. She raised her hand and unleashed several more silver needles, which merged into a single projectile mid-air, piercing directly through the ape’s skull. Blood erupted, and in an instant, all signs of life vanished from the creature. The ape was deceased.

Dominating, sharp, decisive, ruthless, capricious, enchanting. These descriptors immediately sprang to Chen Yang’s mind. The woman standing before him was no longer merely dangerous—she was terrifyingly so. 'Too ruthless,' he thought. Acting without hesitation or warning, where was the persona she displayed earlier? As the ape met its end, Chen Yang’s mind raced with a torrent of thoughts, yet outwardly, he maintained a composed demeanor, silently observing the fallen beast.

'The score is settled, can we depart now?' Chen Yang turned his head, his gaze meeting Liu Ruyan’s. With the ape's demise, Liu Ruyan's demeanor shifted instantaneously, and a seductive smile once again graced her features. 'Certainly, little brother,' Liu Ruyan replied with a grin.

Chen Yang had not underestimated Liu Ruyan initially, and he certainly did not trust the smile she now offered. Consequently, he remained silent. After receiving confirmation that they could proceed, he began walking deeper into the mountain. Liu Ruyan followed swiftly, maintaining close proximity. The pair journeyed further into the dense wilderness for another thirty minutes, eventually reaching an area where trees and rocky terrain intermingled.

Verdant trees still abounded in this region, though they were less densely packed than before. 'We've ventured quite deep, where exactly is this item you seek?' Chen Yang inquired, pausing upon a large rock. By this point, they had traveled at least fifty to sixty kilometers into the mountain—a significant distance. If Liu Ruyan intended to press onward, Chen Yang was unwilling to accompany her further. Given the current circumstances, it was highly probable that powerful entities resided deeper within these mountains. It wasn't a matter of fear, but rather, for a mere two hundred Spirit Stones, the risk seemed unwarranted. Confronting a late-stage or even peak Spirit Gathering Realm spiritual beast, or some other formidable presence, for such a paltry reward would be exceedingly reckless.

'It should be close,' Liu Ruyan stated, showing no inclination to venture deeper. Her eyes meticulously scanned the surroundings, as if searching for a specific landmark. 'What exactly are you looking for? What are its distinguishing characteristics? This area is vast, and searching aimlessly on foot would consume considerable time. Two hundred Spirit Stones is hardly sufficient compensation,' Chen Yang articulated earnestly.

Upon hearing his words, Liu Ruyan emitted a chuckle. 'Little brother, who would have thought? You're quite the shrewd little money-lover.' Chen Yang offered no response."Don’t worry, I won’t shortchange you. The three hundred Spirit Stones is your price for accompanying me tonight. If I still need you tomorrow, I will compensate you without letting you suffer a loss," Liu Ruyan said seriously.

Chen Yang initially didn’t want to waste too much time here, but since the other party put it this way, he naturally wouldn’t say much.

After all, hanging around for Spirit Stones was quite a profit.

Chen Yang remained silent, while Liu Ruyan, her beautiful eyes scanning again, surveyed the surroundings.

After watching for a few minutes, she headed to the left.

Chen Yang followed her lead.

Not knowing what Liu Ruyan was looking for, Chen Yang couldn’t offer much help and could only follow behind her, watching her search.

Liu Ruyan was focused, carefully observing her surroundings at every step.

After over four hours of busy searching, there was no gain whatsoever.

It seemed as though they were merely strolling through the forest.

"Is your information wrong? There isn’t even any herbs here, let alone medicinal plants." Over four hours of continuous silence, with zero gains, Chen Yang couldn’t help but inquire.

Liu Ruyan was also losing her patience, her brows slightly furrowed.

"No, what I need is definitely nearby."

However, she remained confident her desired object was nearby.

Seeing this, Chen Yang couldn’t say much and could only continue accompanying Liu Ruyan in her search.

...

Another two hours went by.

Finally, there was a discovery.

There’s a rocky cave, with many trees growing outside, and a pool of clear water at the entrance.

The air carried an indescribable medicinal fragrance.

Yet this medicinal aroma wasn’t pure, seemingly intermingled with a trace of flesh smell.

In any case, it was quite complex.

And this aroma was emanating from within the cave.

"Found it,"

Liu Ruyan said, standing atop a rock, excitement gleaming in her eyes.

Having dealt with numerous medications, Chen Yang knew just from the scent that whatever emitted such a fragrance had to be extraordinary.

"The smell is coming from within the cave. Whatever you need should be inside," Chen Yang reminded from the side.

"Little brother, you wait here. If anything attempts to enter the cave, just help fend it off. After success, you won’t miss a single Spirit Stone," Liu Ruyan turned with a smile, addressing Chen Yang.

Naturally, good things are often surrounded by some spiritual beast guardians.

So Chen Yang, honestly speaking, would rather stay outside—it was easier.

Thus, he readily agreed with her.

"Understood, wait for me, I’ll be right back," Liu Ruyan’s gaze firm, disappearing into a blur, dashing into the cave.

Chen Yang stood in place, not following her.

Though knowing there were good things inside, he had his principles.

There’s no need to break promises over a good find.

He stood at the cave entrance for several minutes, everything outside calm, and nothing happened.

Just when he thought everything would go smoothly, a sudden, massive roar echoed from within the cave.

It was a tiger’s roar!

"Trouble has emerged,"

Chen Yang’s gaze fixed on the cave, with no intention of entering it.

Half a minute later, Liu Ruyan quickly emerged from the cave."
