Chen Yang easily defeats two members of the Five Poisons Cult after neutralizing their poisons and spiders. As they attempt to commit suicide, their leader intervenes, saving them and allowing their escape while engaging Chen Yang herself. The leader attacks Chen Yang with poisoned silver needles but vanishes before he can retaliate. Chen Yang wonders if he knows her from somewhere.

Chen Yang's gaze was shaken!

Such alarming speed.

Disappearing in the blink of an eye, leaving no trace behind.

To achieve such a feat, the opponent's cultivation must be at least at the pinnacle of the Gathering Spirit stage.

Possessing such immense power was far beyond Chen Yang's prior estimations.

"If a real confrontation were to occur, the outcome would be incredibly difficult to predict."

At the present moment, Chen Yang's own strength is only at the mid-stage of Gathering Spirit, and while he typically feels quite confident when dealing with other Gathering Spirit experts,

facing a pinnacle-level Gatherer, especially the notorious Leader of the Five Poisons Cult who cultivates a particularly mysterious Dao cultivation technique, left him with very little assurance.

Drip, drip...

Moments after the Leader of the Five Poisons Cult made her swift departure, Xiao Hu arrived, several members of the secret bureau hot on his heels.

Upon observing the alley, thick with lingering toxic gases and scattered remnants of venomous creatures upon the ground, they immediately deduced that a fierce and dangerous battle had transpired within its confines.

Looking up and seeing Chen Yang standing unharmed, a wave of relief washed over them.

"Chen Yang, where did they go?"

Xiao Hu rushed over to Chen Yang, urgently seeking information about the unfolding situation.

"They fled," Chen Yang responded concisely.

"Fled?" Xiao Hu appeared visibly startled.

He was well aware of Chen Yang's formidable combat prowess, making it exceedingly rare for anyone to escape after engaging in a heated exchange with him.

"Mm-hmm," Chen Yang confirmed with a nod, subsequently providing a brief yet clear explanation of the preceding events.

The information relayed left Xiao Hu and his team in a state of renewed astonishment.

"The Leader of the Five Poisons Cult? She actually made an appearance as well? It's no wonder she managed to escape your grasp, that truly isn't surprising then," Xiao Hu remarked thoughtfully.

"Brother Hu, this is a significant development. We should report this to the director immediately, shouldn't we?"

One of the bureau members suggested with urgency.

"Indeed, we must inform the director without delay; this situation is exceptionally critical," Xiao Hu agreed instantly, his conviction firm.

Without hesitation, they retrieved their walkie-talkies, initiating communication with other units to relay the gravity of the circumstances.

The Five Poisons Cult operated with unpredictable methods, and their leader was an even more enigmatic and formidable figure.

Their sudden appearance in this unassuming county town sent a deeply unsettling premonition through the ranks.

While Xiao Hu and his team were busy making contact with Ma Jiantao via their radio equipment, Chen Yang, moving alone, approached the base of the wall at the alley's deepest point.

There, he carefully retrieved a silver needle that had fallen to the ground.

The silver needle possessed a faint, peculiar hue, clearly coated with a deadly, potent poison.

Furthermore, the material from which this particular silver needle was crafted was markedly distinct from ordinary medical silver needles.

"These are specifically designed for assassination."

Chen Yang meticulously examined the silver needle, a strange sense of familiarity stirring within his mind once more.

However, he was unable to pinpoint the precise origin of this sensation at that particular moment.

"That woman from earlier today, she seemed to be using silver needles just like these."

After a period of quiet contemplation, Chen Yang suddenly recalled the mysterious woman he had encountered earlier in the day.

At that time, she had retaliated against the monstrous ape, launching three silver needles from her sleeve—an action strikingly similar to the technique employed by the person who just fled.

Upon connecting these details, a sudden realization dawned upon Chen Yang.

"Could it be that the woman from today has some connection to the Five Poisons Cult?"

Chen Yang pondered this intriguing possibility internally.

"Brother Chen Yang, since they managed to escape, perhaps we should depart now. There will be specialized personnel to handle the scene here," Xiao Hu interjected, breaking Chen Yang's train of thought after the communication was completed.

"Very well."

Chen Yang discreetly pocketed the silver needle, intending to examine the lethal poison coating its tip more closely upon his return.

Exiting the alley, Chen Yang proceeded directly to the hospital alongside Xiao Hu.

Ma Jiantao was already present, diligently overseeing the entire operation.

While today's events had been unexpected, they had not been without their successes, as two members of the Five Poisons Cult had been apprehended.

Regrettably, one of the captured individuals had managed to commit suicide by poison when their guard was momentarily down.

Currently, only a single captive remained.

"The members of the Five Poisons Cult are exceptionally peculiar. If one isn't vigilant, they might resort to suicide through poison. This remaining individual must be kept under the strictest observation and interrogated thoroughly," Ma Jiantao stated, his tone grave.

"Understood, Director."

Xiao Hu, understanding the imperative, immediately volunteered to personally supervise the captive and commence the interrogation process.

Soon after, only Ma Jiantao and Chen Yang remained on the stairwell.

Ma Jiantao began by expressing his sincere gratitude to Chen Yang, and then proceeded to inquire about the details concerning the Leader of the Five Poisons Cult.

Chen Yang recounted the encounter truthfully and without embellishment.

Upon hearing Chen Yang's account, Ma Jiantao could not help but furrow his brow in concern.

"The strength of the Five Poisons Cult is not to be underestimated; their leader possesses power at the pinnacle of the Gathering Spirit stage," Ma Jiantao commented gravely.

"I also hadn't anticipated her being quite so powerful, and her speed was astonishing. With just a simple evasion, she vanished without a trace. We must exercise extreme caution," Chen Yang admitted, still feeling a degree of apprehension when discussing the formidable Leader of the Five Poisons Cult.

Acknowledging the formidable strength of the opposing side and the unpredictable, perilous nature of their toxic arts, he understood the risks.

"I shall keep this in mind. The Five Poisons Cult has arrived with a substantial force; I suspect their intentions go beyond merely spreading plagues in Linghe Village. My plan is to rally more individuals here," Ma Jiantao declared.

"Very well, proceed as you see fit regarding the specifics. Contact me again if anything arises," Chen Yang replied.

Nodding in agreement, Chen Yang didn't prolong the conversation. After a brief exchange, he departed the hospital, making his way back to Liuhe Village under the cover of night.

Upon returning home, his initial intention was to resume processing medicinal ingredients.

Yet, the day's events lingered in his thoughts, compelling him to retrieve the silver needle and examine it once more.

Through a careful and thorough inspection, he made a significant discovery.

The toxin coating this poisoned needle was a remarkably intricate substance.

It possessed the capacity to be both lethal and non-lethal.

In essence, if this poison entered a specific vital organ within the body, it would manifest as a deadly agent.

However, if it merely made contact with the skin or affected less crucial organs, its detrimental impact on the body would be notably limited.

This poison was designed with exceptional cunning.

The outcome, whether fatal or not, rested entirely in the hands of its wielder.

"Fascinating," he murmured.

Chen Yang found himself increasingly intrigued by this peculiar poison, dedicating the entire night to its intensive study.

By the end of this extensive research, he not only grasped the components of the poison and its precise effects upon entering various bodily organs but also devised a corresponding antidote.

This dedication stemmed not from idle curiosity.

He harbored a strong conviction that the appearance of the Five Poisons Cult within the county was far from a casual occurrence.

With even their leader making an appearance, the likelihood of a significant event unfolding was exceptionally high.

As a physician by profession, Chen Yang naturally felt compelled to prepare for any eventualities.

Should the Five Poisons Cult resort to more drastic measures, potentially spreading plagues throughout the entire county or city, he wanted to be ready to respond.

After all, he now possessed a degree of understanding regarding the poisons they employed.

"Brother Chen Yang, Brother Chen Yang!"

In the morning, just as Chen Yang concluded his study of the silver needle's toxin, an urgent voice pierced the air.

It was Zhang Xueying, arriving with haste.

"Xueying, what troubles you?"

Chen Yang rose and exited his room, heading towards the clinic.

Zhang Xueying, visibly sweating and distressed, explained, "Brother Chen Yang, Lingling and Xiaoxiao have fallen ill. The physicians in town are baffled, and the situation is dire."

"What? They are both sick?"

Chen Yang stopped short, a wave of apprehension washing over him.

"Let's go, hurry and take me to see them."

Without another word, Chen Yang immediately followed Zhang Xueying as she led him swiftly to her home.

At her residence, Jiang Miaoyan paced the room, her anxiety palpable as she wrung her hands.

The two young girls, Xiaoxiao and Lingling, lay on the bed, appearing extremely unwell and covered in a cold sweat, clearly indicating the severity of their condition.

"Brother Chen Yang, you've arrived! Please examine Lingling and Xiaoxiao, tell us what's ailing them," Jiang Miaoyan implored upon seeing Chen Yang.

"Miaoyan, do not despair. With me here, they will be alright," Chen Yang reassured her.

He then promptly went to the bedside to meticulously examine Lingling and Xiaoxiao.

Following a comprehensive check-up, he determined that their symptoms were indeed caused by a widespread epidemic!

Though Chen Yang had mentally braced himself for this grim possibility upon his arrival, the confirmation of the epidemic still unsettled him.

Despite the potential for treatment, Lingling and Xiaoxiao were far too young, and any severe complication could prove devastating.

"Brother Chen Yang, what is wrong with Xiaoxiao and Lingling? What has happened?" Jiang Miaoyan’s voice trembled with worry, tears welling in her eyes.

Zhang Xueying, equally distressed, watched the two girls on the bed, her own eyes red with concern.

"Xueying, Miaoyan, where did Lingling and Xiaoxiao venture yesterday? Who might they have encountered? Do either of you recall?" Chen Yang bypassed their anxious questions, opting instead to seek information.

"I was not home yesterday; Sister Xueying was looking after Lingling and Xiaoxiao when they went out," Jiang Miaoyan replied, glancing towards Zhang Xueying, unaware of the full implications.

Zhang Xueying began to rack her memory.

"Yesterday, Xiaoxiao and Lingling didn't have school, and they didn't go anywhere special. They were just playing around within the village."
