Peach Blossom Divine Medical God Chapter 1961 - 1953: Tailgating_2

Leaving the corporate building behind, He Xiran inquired with confusion.
Chen Yang cast a glance back at the structure before explaining, "Regardless of how you see it, we don't know Mr. Yi well enough."
"We've already taken a considerable risk by coming here; therefore, we absolutely cannot reveal the location of Liuhe Village."
He Xiran paused, then after some careful consideration, she concurred.
Their alliance for revenge had only recently established itself in Liuhe Village, and any misstep could lead to a highly perilous situation.
Prudence was indeed the better part of valor.
"I understand," He Xiran nodded in agreement.
"Very well, let's depart. Don't you have some personal matters to attend to? Go take care of them first, and we'll head to the outskirts this evening," Chen Yang suggested.
"Okay."
He Xiran nodded and followed Chen Yang into the car, departing from the vicinity of the corporate building. They proceeded towards the outskirts of the provincial city, arriving at what appeared to be a secluded mountain area.
Amidst the overgrown weeds and trees of this desolate mountain, a villa stood, giving off an aura of former luxury.
Having been unoccupied for many years, it now bore a rather dilapidated and lonely appearance.
Upon arrival, Chen Yang and He Xiran exited the vehicle.
As he stepped out, Chen Yang instinctively scanned his surroundings. "Where exactly are we?" he wondered.
Following He Xiran's directions exclusively after leaving the corporate building, he was completely unaware of their destination.
"This is my home."
He Xiran gazed at the neglected villa, her expression a mixture of complex emotions.
"Your home?" Chen Yang expressed surprise, but then quickly grasped the implication and refrained from further questioning.
After exiting the car, He Xiran proceeded slowly towards the villa and then entered.
Five years prior, He Xiran had been an ordinary individual.
Her family had been quite well-to-do.
However, a tragic event five years ago resulted in the demise of her parents, shattering the family unit.
Chen Yang had gleaned some information regarding these events from Chen Tianmin.
Therefore, upon hearing that it was He Xiran's ancestral home, he began to comprehend the situation.
It was likely that He Xiran's parents had met their end within this very residence.
Subsequently, He Xiran encountered Chen Tianmin and later joined the alliance dedicated to vengeance.
Although the villa was in disrepair, the furnishings and decorations inside remained largely intact.
In the main hall, two memorial tablets were prominently displayed.
It was evident that these honored the memory of He Xiran's parents.
"Five years ago, my father crossed paths with individuals from the Blood Bat Hall due to business dealings, which led to their retaliation. Had Uncle not intervened to save me at that critical moment, I likely would not be alive in this world today," He Xiran recounted, her voice heavy with emotion.
It felt as though she were speaking both to herself and to Chen Yang.
For some inexplicable reason, Chen Yang found himself easily empathizing with He Xiran's profound sadness at that moment.
"My condolences."
Uncertain of what else to say, Chen Yang simply moved closer to He Xiran and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Chen Yang, please accompany me to offer incense to my parents. I haven't been back in a long time, and if I depart now, I don't know when I'll return next," He Xiran said, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"Certainly."
Chen Yang retrieved the incense and candles from a nearby spot, lit them, and paid his respects.
Following this, He Xiran retrieved a square wooden box from a cabinet located on the villa's second floor.
She offered no explanation of its contents, nor did Chen Yang inquire.
It was a matter of her personal privacy, rendering further inquiry inappropriate.
Having paid her respects to her parents and secured the wooden box,
He Xiran's personal business at the villa was concluded.
The two exited the villa together, intending to drive back to the provincial city to find some truck drivers.
Their objective was to procure necessary resources for the upcoming night.
However, after traveling only a few dozen meters, Chen Yang suddenly detected that something was amiss.
The mountain path was not paved but consisted of comparably soft dirt.
Despite the absence of rain, the marks left by vehicle tires on the ground were quite distinct.
It was clearly visible that two sets of tire tracks indicated where cars had previously passed.
Beyond the tracks they themselves had made upon arrival, this suggested that other vehicles had frequented this location.
In this isolated wilderness, vehicles rarely ventured.
This realization put Chen Yang on high alert.
"Chen Yang, why have we stopped?"
Consumed by her emotions at the time, He Xiran had not paid much attention to these subtle details.
Noticing Chen Yang suddenly halting the car by the roadside, she could not help but ask.
"Take a look at the ground," Chen Yang instructed.
He Xiran followed his gaze, and upon observing the marks, she immediately understood.
"We've been followed!"
"It's highly probable." Chen Yang surveyed the surroundings, attempting to spot any individuals nearby.
However, the area was densely populated with towering weeds and trees, completely obscuring any view.
"Could it be the Blood Bat Hall?" He Xiran's demeanor shifted instantly to one of tension.
"I don't believe it." Chen Yang softly uttered and then instructed, "Be cautious while inside the car. I'll step out and investigate."
As he finished speaking, Chen Yang opened the door, exited the vehicle, and began examining the tire tracks imprinted on the ground.
The tire marks on the road were exceptionally distinct, and with no alternative routes available in the mountainous terrain, they were easy to follow.
Chen Yang pursued the tracks for approximately two to three minutes before discovering a car concealed deliberately amongst the weeds.
Within the vehicle, two men were present.
Upon witnessing Chen Yang's sudden appearance behind their car, the two individuals exhibited visible shock.
Without uttering a word, they immediately activated their engine.
Vroom!!
The car erupted with a violent roar as it rapidly reversed, attempting to make an escape.
Chen Yang remained unmoving. With a push of his hands, he halted the car's movement entirely, immobilizing it in place.
It made no difference how the occupants of the car amplified the engine's power.
The vehicle continued to spin its wheels in place, utterly incapable of budging even an inch.
The desperate situation of the two men inside was evident as they noticed Chen Yang behind the car, single-handedly preventing their escape.
Was this even human? To physically confront the force of a moving car with just one's body?
Vroom, vroom, vroom!!
The accelerator was pressed to its limit, and the car roared ferociously.
Yet, no matter their efforts, it refused to reverse even half a step.
After a few moments of intense engine sputtering, a loud bang echoed as the car's engine catastrophically failed.
It was completely dead.
"We're finished, completely finished."
The occupants of the car were overcome with despair.
Observing the car's demise, Chen Yang released his hold and swiftly approached the driver's side, yanking the door open.
The car's interior was locked from the inside.
However, Chen Yang's immense strength easily tore the door from its hinges!
"Get out!"
He seized the driver's collar and forcefully pulled him from the vehicle.
"Hey, brother, don't get agitated. We have no prior conflict or animosity between us. There's no need for you to attack us," the man in the driver's seat pleaded, his voice trembling with terror.
The passenger was in a similar state of fear.
Witnessing Chen Yang's brutal display of strength, he didn't even wait for Chen Yang to act; he scrambled out of the passenger side himself.
With his hands instinctively held over his head, he crouched down beside the car.
Observing the predicament of the two men, Chen Yang felt a surge of bewilderment.
He had initially suspected them to be members of the Blood Bat Hall.
However, their behavior and the complete absence of any cultivator's Qi from them suggested otherwise; they did not appear to be associated with the Blood Bat Hall.
"Who are you people? Why were you tailing me?" Chen Yang demanded, his voice sharp and cold.
Despite his fear, the man remained silent in response to Chen Yang's interrogation.
"Refusing to speak? Then you've brought this upon yourselves."
Seeing their lack of cooperation, Chen Yang showed no restraint. He gave a slight twist to the man's arm, eliciting a yelp of pain.
"Stop, stop! I'll talk, I promise I'll talk!"
The man was merely an ordinary individual, lacking significant endurance. Faced with Chen Yang's genuine threat, he quickly capitulated.
"Whoosh." The man gasped, clutching his arm, and hastily divulged the information.
"It was... it was President Yi who dispatched us to track you."
As he spoke, the man's gaze darted nervously.
"President Yi?" Chen Yang expressed his surprise, his brow furrowing instinctively.
"Yes, President Yi sent us," the man affirmed, nodding and reiterating his statement for emphasis.
"And why did he send you to track me? What was his objective?" Chen Yang was swamped with questions.
He couldn't fathom Yi Dingxiang's intentions, nor understand why he would send individuals to follow him.
"I'm uncertain of the exact purpose. I was merely following his orders to keep pace with you. He only instructed me to report your location periodically. I know nothing further," the man stammered, his voice filled with agitation.
Perceiving that the man was likely not fabricating his story, Chen Yang decided not to question him further.
After a moment of contemplation, he used both hands to deliver blows that rendered the two men unconscious.
