"Hmph, you believe we’re connected simply because you say so, and disconnected when you say so? You overestimate your own influence, don’t you? I fear this matter is no longer within your control." Liu Qingqing stood, hands on her hips, her face contorted with malice.
Her appearance was a stark contrast to her daytime demeanor, as if she were an entirely different person.
Her words were imbued with a threatening undertone.
Wang Jingman observed the ring of thugs encircling her and finally grasped that something was amiss.
Initially, she had assumed Liu Qingqing was there to reconcile, but it was evident she had misjudged the situation.
Despite this, she felt no fear. She was already a cultivator, possessing sufficient strength to handle these individuals, and moreover, Chen Yang was present.
Chen Yang had not yet departed.
"What do you mean by that? What are you people intending to do?" Wang Jingman inquired cautiously.
"Hmph, what we’re intending to do? Inquire with President Qi, and you shall find out," Liu Qingqing scoffed coldly.
President Qi sported a sinister grin, a complete departure from the upright image he had projected earlier.
"President Wang, business collaborations are not trivial matters. It’s not a case of ’you cooperate when you desire’ and ’you don’t when you don’t desire’! I exerted considerable effort today introducing potential partners to you, even personally preparing tea for you, and yet you unilaterally decide not to invest? I fear it will not be that simple." President Qi sneered.
Wang Jingman’s brow furrowed. "What is the implication of your statement? You intend to compel me to invest when I no longer wish to?"
President Qi’s smirk remained unwavering. "It’s not that I will force your investment. Naturally, you retain the right to refuse. However, I cannot simply have labored in vain today, can I?"
"Hand over fifteen million; consider it your penalty for breaching our agreement, and also compensation for the hard work Qingqing and I put in today. Otherwise, this situation will not conclude here."
President Qi declared forcefully, slamming his fist down.
The surrounding thugs simultaneously advanced, their postures aggressive and intimidating.
At that precise moment, Wang Jingman's comprehension of the situation became complete.
It appeared that President Qi and Liu Qingqing, realizing their scheme had failed, had resorted to bringing enforcers to forcibly extort money from her.
What a preposterous turn of events.
"Liu Qingqing, I must have been truly blind. I never fathomed that you would so utterly disregard the bonds we shared during our college years—not only attempting to swindle me but also bringing individuals to threaten me?" Wang Jingman gazed at Liu Qingqing with a mixture of bewilderment and hurt; she was genuinely wounded.
Yet, Liu Qingqing’s expression conveyed an absolute lack of concern. The sentiments that Wang Jingman held dear were utterly worthless in her eyes.
"Cease uttering such nonsensical drivel. You are far too naive. Must you truly invoke trivial past sentiments at a time like this? Grow up, won’t you?" Liu Qingqing retorted with a sneer.
"Heh, you truly are guileless, President Wang. The business world is a realm of survival of the fittest; excessive innocence is a detriment. Accept this fifteen million as tuition for the lesson you’ve received today. Perhaps you will gain some wisdom in the future," President Qi interjected mockingly from the side. In their perception, the camaraderie Wang Jingman spoke of was nothing more than a jest.
"Very well, I understand. Since such is the nature of this interaction, there is no longer any ’bond’ to discuss." Wang Jingman finally perceived Liu Qingqing’s true nature with stark clarity. "Let me be equally clear: I will not yield a single cent to you. If you wish to resolve this through brute force, I am prepared to engage."
Wang Jingman’s demeanor shifted abruptly to one of dominance; her potent aura surged upward.
Her formidable presence momentarily stunned both Liu Qingqing and President Qi.
"Well, well, President Wang. I had no idea—appearing so delicate and vulnerable outwardly, yet possessing such considerable fortitude." President Qi advanced a few steps, a playful smirk on his face, stopping directly before Wang Jingman. "Do you truly believe your slender physique is capable of contending with this multitude?"
"Not in this setting, certainly. However, were we to transition to a bedchamber, perhaps your capabilities would prove more substantial."
"Hahahahaha..."
Those remarks exposed the utter lechery of President Qi, eliciting raucous, vulgar laughter from the henchmen surrounding them.
Wang Jingman’s fury ignited.
Without uttering another word, she lunged forward, her hand closing around President Qi’s throat.
Hack, hack, hack...
Her movement was so swift that President Qi had no opportunity to react. By the time he processed the situation, he was already gasping for air, his neck ensnared.
"Y–you... what are you doing?!"
He had completely underestimated Wang Jingman, assuming a frail woman could never match their strength. He never could have envisioned that, in the very next instant, his life would hang precariously in the balance.
"She actually dared to strike him? Brothers, apprehend her! Teach her a lesson!" The other lackeys finally snapped back to attention.
Witnessing President Qi in distress, they immediately surged forward to his aid!
"I should like to see who dares to make a move!" Wang Jingman bellowed, her grip intensifying.
President Qi experienced a sudden, crushing pressure as her fingers tightened around his neck. The terrifying force felt as though it would fracture his throat.
"D–don’t... don’t come closer! B–back off!" Losing his breath and his face turning a deep shade of red as death felt imminent, he quickly made his men halt.
The henchmen, fearful of harming their boss, immediately ceased their advance. President Qi currently appeared quite menacing, his face so flushed it seemed on the verge of exploding.
"What are you doing? Let President Qi go this instant. We can settle this amicably, but if you continue like this, things will escalate dramatically," one of the bodyguards declared, pointing at Wang Jingman.
"Wang Jingman, have you lost your mind? Are you truly intending to kill someone?" Even Liu Qingqing was frozen stiff with fear.
She had certainly not anticipated that the typically gentle and mild-mannered Wang Jingman possessed such a side to her.
"Kill someone? Absolutely not. However, inflicting an ‘accidental permanent disability’ is quite possible," Wang Jingman stated coldly.
"D–don’t... President Wang, we can discuss this. Let’s talk it through. Please, don’t lose your composure. This is all a massive misunderstanding. It was all that wretched Liu Qingqing’s scheme; I had nothing to do with it," President Qi stammered.
The moment he sensed genuine peril, President Qi transformed into a complete coward, instantly attempting to deflect blame while groveling for his life.
Liu Qingqing’s face turned ashen upon hearing his words.
Still, she remained silent, focusing only on imploring Wang Jingman to release him.
Wang Jingman hadn't truly intended to end his life – her sole aim was to instill fear.
"I am aware it was Liu Qingqing’s instigation, but could this have escalated to this point without your agreement? Consider this a minor lesson. Now, get lost before you truly face severe consequences," Wang Jingman commanded, punctuating her words with a swift, powerful kick to President Qi’s abdomen.
"Oww!"
He yelped in pain and collapsed onto the ground. Before he could even recover his breath, he scrambled to his feet, putting as much distance as possible between himself and Wang Jingman.
Once at a safe distance, he turned back, his eyes burning with fury as he glared at her.
"That hurt like hell! I never imagined this *bitch* would be so formidable!" President Qi, regaining a semblance of his earlier arrogance, resumed his verbal assault.
"President Qi, are you alright?" Liu Qingqing rushed to his side, attempting to placate him.
"Get lost! Can’t you see I was nearly killed? ‘Alright,’ my ass," President Qi snapped, redirecting his pent-up rage onto her.
Liu Qingqing’s complexion darkened further, yet she dared not retort.
"You! You really possess some skill," President Qi’s menacing gaze fixed upon Wang Jingman once more, clearly thirsting for retribution.
"What? You’re still lingering here?" Wang Jingman met his stare, her demeanor unwavering and cool.
"Leave? Heh. You honestly believe I’ll be intimidated by mere strength? Observe the sheer number of men I have at my disposal," President Qi sneered, malice blazing in his eyes.
As if on cue, his underlings stepped forward—over a dozen of them, exuding an aura of palpable threat.
In comparison, Wang Jingman, a solitary ‘weak woman,’ appeared hopelessly outnumbered.
Yet, her expression remained utterly composed.
Chen Yang, observing from within his car, mirrored her unperturbed state, displaying no concern whatsoever for her predicament.
"Heh, you truly won’t weep until you’ve seen the coffin, will you?" Witnessing President Qi’s clear intent to press the matter further, Wang Jingman let out a chilling laugh.
"Hmph, *bitch*, who’s the one who won’t weep until they see the coffin? All of you, go! Take her down!" President Qi bellowed.
The lackeys immediately surged forward like a pack of ravenous wolves, lunging at Wang Jingman. More than a dozen men, radiating a bloodthirsty bravado—by all appearances, subduing a single ‘weak woman’ like her should have been an exercise in utter simplicity.
