Chen Yang and Wang Jingman visit an antique shop to find the owner. The clerk initially claims the owner is asleep, but a voice from within reveals he's awake. The owner, who put on a drunken act, meets with Chen Yang. After Chen Yang mentions Daoist Liu Qingyun, the owner drops the act and agrees to discuss selling Formation diagrams and materials, warning Chen Yang about the high prices.

Chen Yang had already braced himself for this scenario before his arrival.

Considering the substantial daily profits Liuhe Village was currently amassing, he hadn't given such matters much thought.

"This junior is fully aware," Chen Yang replied.

"Hehe, that's good as long as you understand. Follow me," the elder chuckled, turning to lead the way into the back room.

Chen Yang, along with Wang Jingman, followed closely behind.

The shop at the front was modest, occupying only about ten square meters. However, what lay behind it was an entirely different world.

An open courtyard was present, enclosed by structures that resembled a traditional farmhouse.

Although the doors to these rooms remained shut, a glimpse through the windows revealed them to be packed with various articles.

It appeared the elder was utilizing this residence as a storage space.

All the merchandise intended for sale was meticulously organized within these chambers.

"Hmm... it should be around here."

Upon reaching the courtyard, the elder paused, lost in thought for a moment.

It was evident that the sheer volume of items in the house made finding specific things a bit challenging.

With a soft creak, the elder opened a door and ushered Chen Yang and Wang Jingman inside.

Stepping into the room, they were immediately surrounded by an overwhelming abundance of items.

The walls were adorned, the tables were laden, and even the ceiling seemed to be holding numerous objects.

Armors and weapons were present, alongside books detailing cultivation techniques and even some potent elixirs.

This place was far more than just a house; it was a veritable treasure trove.

"It is indeed here."

As soon as he entered the room, the elder's gaze locked onto a leather suitcase stowed beneath a table.

He retrieved it from its hiding place; a thick layer of dust coated its surface, clearly indicating it had remained undisturbed for many years.

Whew...

Taking the suitcase, he blew away the accumulated dust before pressing the latch. The suitcase sprang open.

Inside, it was filled to the brim with parchments.

Each parchment was meticulously inscribed with the blueprint for a specific formation.

An entire box brimming with them – just how opulent was this?!

Chen Yang was taken aback.

It seemed this elder possessed a truly remarkable background; otherwise, who could own such a vast collection of valuable items and still operate a humble shop?

Without immense power, who would dare to conduct business in such a manner?

"Well, this suitcase is filled entirely with formation diagrams. Feel free to examine them at your leisure and select what appeals to you. We can discuss the pricing afterward," the elder stated, placing the suitcase on the table to allow Chen Yang to peruse its contents.

Suppressing his momentary astonishment, Chen Yang nodded, "Alright."

He stepped forward, beginning to extract the diagrams and commence his selection.

As he started, Chen Yang had a general estimate in mind.

This case surely contained at least a hundred formation diagrams.

However, upon closer inspection, he discovered that many of the formations were relatively basic in design.

Chen Yang possessed no interest in rudimentary formations.

Although he had never personally constructed a formation before, he possessed the profound insights of the great formation master, Chi Yunzi, within his mind.

Even though he hadn't fully assimilated all this knowledge and couldn't yet rival Chi Yunzi's mastery, he had accumulated considerable practical experience.

His starting point was inherently far higher than that of an ordinary individual.

He felt capable of arranging some intermediate-level formations at present and, with further practice, even advanced ones.

This was the undeniable advantage of inheriting such profound knowledge.

The ability to acquire skills in a short span that might take others years to attain.

Chen Yang was exceedingly diligent, scrutinizing the hundred formation diagrams meticulously for several tens of minutes. Ultimately, he selected only three.

These three were chosen because they were of a relatively high caliber, and their effects were something Chen Yang could presently utilize, leading him to make his decision.

"Have you completed your selection?" the elder inquired, who had remained silent until this point but had been observing Chen Yang's methodical process all along.

Noticing Chen Yang's skillful discernment in choosing the formations, a faint smile graced the elder's lips.

"Yes, I have made my choice; I will take these three, senior," Chen Yang replied with a smile.

He was genuinely pleased with these three diagrams; his journey here had certainly not been in vain.

"Alright, allow me to take a look," the elder responded with a nod and a smile, extending his hand.

Chen Yang handed over the formation diagrams he held to the elder.

Upon receiving the diagrams, the elder gave them a brief inspection. Then, with a smile, he addressed Chen Yang: "Young friend, you possess a remarkable eye. These formations are quite intricate. Are you certain you wish to acquire these three?"

"I am certain, senior. Please, state your price," Chen Yang affirmed.

"Very well, given your keen judgment and the recommendation from Old Liu, I shall not charge you excessively. One billion each, and you may take them," the elder declared generously.

"What?! A billion each? Senior, isn't that price a bit exorbitant?" Wang Jingman exclaimed, utterly shocked by the quoted sum.

Having only recently entered the cultivation world, she possessed little knowledge of such matters.

"Young girl, this price is already quite reasonable. For anyone else, it would be at least three billion for just one!" the old man responded.

"This..." Wang Jingman was about to protest further, but Chen Yang intervened.

He reasoned that considering the rarity and the caliber of these three formation diagrams, a billion was not an excessive sum.

It was important to recall that a mid-grade spirit stone commanded tens of millions in the market; by that measure, each formation diagram was effectively costing only a few dozen spirit stones, which was an acceptable outlay.

"Senior, the price is indeed fair; let us proceed with your asking price," Chen Yang stated with a smile.

Upon hearing Chen Yang's agreement, the old man's face lit up with joy.

"Hehe, indeed, young friend, you possess discernment. It's no wonder you can practice formations; you are clearly no ordinary individual," the old man remarked, giving Chen Yang an appreciative nod.

"You flatter me, senior," Chen Yang replied with a slight smile, not taking the praise too seriously.

With the three formation diagrams secured, Chen Yang then inquired about the necessary materials for their deployment.

"Ah, I almost overlooked it; you will still require formation materials," the old man remembered, promptly asking Chen Yang about his preferences: "Young friend, do you have any specific requirements for these materials? Should they be of superior or inferior quality?"

Chen Yang was taken aback by this question.

He wondered if there was a significant difference in quality among formation materials.

"Senior, is there something unique about the quality of these formation materials?" Chen Yang inquired, his curiosity piqued and a desire to learn evident.

The old man paused upon hearing Chen Yang's question.

He had initially assumed that Chen Yang possessed a profound understanding of formations, given his effortless selection of three high-level diagrams.

Why, then, would he be unaware of even the basic principles of material quality?

Though puzzled, the old man chose not to probe further, viewing it instead as an opportunity for instruction.

"The quality of formation materials is indeed crucial. Superior materials not only amplify a formation's power but also expedite its setup! Inferior materials can be cumbersome and unwieldy."

"I would advise opting for better quality if you require portable formations. For fixed formations, however, the material quality is less critical, merely impacting efficacy to a small degree," the old man elaborated.

Chen Yang grasped the concept after the explanation.

He recalled seeing formation materials before; during the time the Gu Family had hired an array master to establish formations in Liuhe Village, the massive formation core they left behind was undoubtedly what the old man was referring to as inferior material.

It was not only heavy but also delivered subpar results.

With this understanding, Chen Yang decisively chose to acquire superior quality materials.
