An Baobei decides to accompany Su Chengyu to E City, hoping to be in the same area as Ning Zihan, though her mother, An Jing, expresses disapproval of the trip.

From An Jing’s perspective, E City represented a place of suffering for her beloved daughter, largely due to Ning Zihan, making a visit undesirable.

"But I really want to go..." An Baobei whined, a pout adorning her lips because both An Jing and Su Changyi opposed her wish. Her voice remained soft. "Dad, Mom, I still like him... I want to go see him. Even if I can't see him, it's fine... I just want to spend a few days in the place where he lives..."

Witnessing An Baobei's subdued voice and her evident disappointment, An Jing and Su Changyi found it difficult to refuse. With a resigned sigh, they relented: "Then you can go."

Only then did a radiant smile bloom on An Baobei's face: "Thank you, Mom and Dad!"

An Jing let out another sigh, offering a word of caution: "Baobei, you must still try your best not to like him."

An Baobei responded instantly with a grin: "I suppose I'm just like you, devoted~" Even after half a year without contact with Ning Zihan, her affection for him only deepened.

An Jing found herself at a loss for words, merely adding, "It must be difficult for you."

Shaking her head with a laugh, An Baobei replied, "This is the path I've chosen for myself; it isn't difficult. Besides, Dad, Mom, Grandpa, and Uncle all shower me with so much care. I'm happy every single day, truly, it's not tough at all."

The unwavering warmth provided by her family was more than enough to offset the ache of her unrequited love.

An Jing chose not to say anything further. She felt only gratitude at that moment, thankful that the home she shared with her husband was sufficiently warm to offer solace to their cherished daughter.

...

The following day, An Baobei journeyed to E City alongside Su Chengyu, who was there on a business trip. While he attended to his affairs for several days, An Baobei occupied her time either within the hotel's confines or by exploring E City on her own.

She found herself retracing her steps to nearly all the places where Ning Zihan had once taken her for outings.

After five days of being immersed in work, Su Chengyu's schedule finally eased. He then took An Baobei to view the location where his bar would soon open. Following visits to two other establishments, he treated An Baobei to lunch at E City's most prestigious Western restaurant.

Although she had dined at Western restaurants numerous times during her year in the city, An Baobei still struggled with cutting her steak. Su Chengyu stepped in to help, expertly slicing it before pushing the plate towards her.

"Go ahead and eat."

"Thank you, Uncle." Only then did An Baobei pick up her knife and fork again, joyfully savoring the steak Su Chengyu had prepared for her.

While observing An Baobei's meal, Su Chengyu began cutting into his own steak. After a bite, he reached for a goblet, took a sip of red wine, and smiled as he spoke, "Baobei, while my work isn't entirely concluded, it's no longer as demanding as before. If you wish to visit any places, feel free to ask me to accompany you."

"Okay, okay."

"The steak at this Western restaurant is quite good; eat plenty."

"Okay, okay."

Just as An Baobei nodded in agreement, her eyes fell upon Ning Zihan ascending the stairs. They were seated on the second floor of the restaurant, and her unexpected sighting of Ning Zihan left her momentarily stunned.

"What are you staring at? You've barely touched your food." Noticing An Baobei fixedly gazing in one direction, neglecting her steak, Su Chengyu found it amusing. He instinctively followed the line of her stare, his gaze landing on Ning Zihan, who was being escorted towards a private dining room.

Su Chengyu glanced back at An Baobei, observing her continued focus on Ning Zihan yet her hesitation to approach him. He then turned back and called out warmly with a smile, "President Ning, what a pleasant coincidence! It’s quite something to run into you during a meal."
