Ethan effortlessly defeats the fleeing assassins with a barrage of light blades, leaving the battlefield in stunned silence. He then calmly declares himself a direct gentleman, unsettling the surrounding nobles and commanders. Duke Alaric, now intimidated, offers Ethan a safe house, which Ethan accepts. As Ethan departs, the remaining leaders debate whether to pursue him, but ultimately decide against it due to the political ramifications of confronting someone protected by Eldoria.

Inside the main command tent of the Arcadia Army, a deadly atmosphere filled the entire place.

The deaths of several nobles, along with Ethan's successful escape, had thrown the entire camp into a state of unease. Every officer and servant moved carefully while keeping their heads lowered. Nobody dared to speak unnecessarily because everyone knew the Emperor's mood had reached its lowest point.

The atmosphere was so cold that it felt difficult to breathe.Everyone felt as though they were walking on the edge of a cliff.

At the center of the tent, Haster sat on his seat with one leg crossed over the other. His fingers slowly tapped against the armrest in a steady rhythm while a deep and menacing look rested on his face. His sharp eyes remained fixed on the scout kneeling before him.

The scout lowered his head even further before carefully beginning his report.

"Your Majesty."

"Our scouts have returned from observing the Allied Army camp. They reported a huge disturbance inside the camp."

Haster's tapping slowly stopped.

The scout swallowed before continuing.

"A large battle broke out inside their own camp. We were unable to get close because the area was sealed off, but from the distance we could clearly see violent explosions and a massive pillar of light rising into the sky."

He paused for a brief moment.

"Our men also caught sight of Marquise Ethan."

The moment Ethan's name was spoken, several nobles inside the tent quietly looked toward Haster.

The scout continued.

"From what our scouts observed, Marquise Ethan was fighting against several people inside the Allied camp."

"They could not identify everyone involved because of the distance, but it appeared that multiple powerful experts had surrounded him."

"The battle was extremely fierce."

"There were repeated explosions, and even from several kilometers away our scouts could feel the shockwaves."

The tent fell silent.

Haster slowly frowned.

"Huh..."

A trace of confusion appeared in his eyes.

He leaned slightly against his chair while thinking deeply.

'What is going on?'

He had been certain Ethan would defect to the Allied side after escaping.

If that had happened, Ethan should have been welcomed by them.

So why...

Why was Ethan fighting against the Allied Army?

His fingers slowly resumed tapping against the armrest.

'Did the Allied Army refuse to accept him?'

'Did they try to kill him because of their hatred and suspicion toward him?'

He quietly narrowed his eyes.

'Or...'

'Is something else happening behind the scenes?'

The uncertainty made him feel strangely uneasy. He disliked situations that he could not fully understand.

After thinking for a while, Haster slowly leaned back into his chair.

Whatever had happened inside the Allied camp was no longer under his control.

Still...

A cold smile slowly appeared on his face.

'I only hope Ethan died during that battle.'

'That way...'

'I will have one less thing to worry about.'

The deadly atmosphere inside the command tent only grew heavier as everyone silently waited for Haster's next order.

...…

Inside the Allied camp, the atmosphere had become much quieter than before.

The battlefield was now filled with medics, healers, and soldiers carrying away the wounded. The short but violent battle had left the camp in terrible condition. Burnt tents, shattered wagons, and deep craters could be seen everywhere while groups of soldiers worked together to clear away the debris. The smell of smoke still lingered in the air as healers hurried from one injured soldier to another.

Thankfully, except for the assassin Ethan had killed, no one else had died.

Even so, many people had suffered serious injuries.

Several Saint Realm experts escaped with only minor wounds, but those below the Divine Knight Realm were not so fortunate. Many had suffered severe burns from Ethan's flames while others had been injured by their own allies' attacks during the chaotic battle. Some groaned in pain while lying on stretchers as healers applied medicine and used recovery spells.

The doctors quietly shook their heads because they knew it would take quite some time before many of them fully recovered.

Under normal circumstances, the entire Allied Army would have already fallen into panic after such a disturbance. Everyone would have feared that Arcadia would immediately launch a surprise attack while they were still recovering.

However...

After hearing the information Ethan had revealed and cross-checking it with their own intelligence, they discovered that several important nobles from Arcadia were no longer present.

Whether those nobles were dead or simply missing was still unknown.

But one thing was certain.

Arcadia had also suffered heavy losses.

With Ethan's escape, along with Duke Osantra, Shatad, and several others leaving the battlefield, Arcadia had lost a major part of its strength as well.

The losses suffered by both sides had unexpectedly created a brief period of fragile peace.

Still...

Anyone with real battlefield experience could easily tell that this peace would not last.

It was only the calm before the storm.

Meanwhile, inside a temporary command tent prepared by Eldoria, Duke Alaric sat across from Ethan with a grim expression.

He let out a tired sigh before looking at Ethan.

"You could have simply shown us that badge instead of causing such a huge mess."

He rubbed his forehead before continuing.

"With that token, there wouldn't have been so much trouble."

His voice carried obvious frustration.

Of course, Duke Alaric was angry.

He was not Ethan's friend, nor did he have any personal reason to protect him.

Everything that had happened today had completely thrown the situation into chaos.

If Ethan truly was someone important to Queen Ophelia and something happened to him afterward, the consequences could become extremely serious.

But...

That was not the only reason he had stepped in.The truth was much simpler.

He was afraid.

Afraid that a single man could cause unbelievable damage if he was pushed any further.

After witnessing Ethan's strength with his own eyes, Duke Alaric no longer wished to imagine what would have happened if the battle had continued.

He quietly looked toward Ethan.

Ethan sat calmly in his chair while his greatsword rested beside him.

His expression remained indifferent as he looked back at Duke Alaric.

After a brief silence, Ethan finally spoke.

"I have a question."

Duke Alaric immediately looked at him.

"Yes?"

A bad premonition suddenly rose in his heart.

"Tell me."

Ethan remained silent for a moment.

His eyes slowly became colder as he stared directly at Duke Alaric.

Then he calmly asked,

"Tell me..."

"Which son of a bitch came up with the plan to kill me?"
