Haster glanced around the command tent before speaking calmly.
"Call everyone here."
The guards immediately saluted before walking out to relay the order.
Only a few moments later, the nobles, generals, and commanders entered the command tent one after another. Everyone quietly took their places around the large table while the atmosphere gradually became serious again. Silence lingered inside the command tent for several moments while Ethan quietly looked at the massive map spread across the table.
Countless markings covered it, and every mark represented another battlefield, another ruined city, and another place where thousands of people had already lost their lives. Looking at it made everyone understand just how brutal this war had become.
Haster slowly folded the map before raising his head to look at everyone gathered inside.
"The war will not stop simply because we understand the problem."
His calm voice echoed throughout the tent while everyone's attention focused entirely on him.
"We still have an enemy standing before us."
"If we cannot survive this war, then none of the things we discussed today will matter."
Several officers quietly nodded while the others remained silent.
One of the generals stepped forward and respectfully cupped his fist.
"Your Highness."
"Our scouts have returned. They report that the Allied Army has begun gathering its forces again. They seem to be preparing for another large movement."
Haster accepted the report and quickly read through it. His eyes narrowed slightly as he finished reading before handing the report over to Duke Osantra.
"They have finally decided to move."
"They're no longer trying to delay us."
"They want a decisive battle."
Duke Osantra carefully read through the report before placing it back onto the table.
"It seems so."
"Their supply lines have also become unstable, and if they continue dragging this war, it will hurt them as well."
Haster nodded in agreement.
"Which means they have no choice."
"They must either defeat us quickly..."
"Or negotiate."
His gaze slowly swept across everyone standing inside the tent.
"I don't believe they will choose negotiations."
"Not yet."
The officers silently agreed.
Just then another commander stepped forward with a grave expression.
"Aside from that, there is another piece of intelligence."
"The Emperors are going to make a move."
The moment those words were spoken, everyone's heart shook.
Several nobles widened their eyes while many commanders exchanged uneasy looks. A heavy silence settled over the command tent.
The words made everyone sombre and uneasy.
An Emperor personally stepping on the battlefield wasn't something that can be ignored.
A veteran commander frowned deeply before speaking.
"The four Emperors are reportedly moving toward the frontlines. If that information is true the pressure on us will become much greater."
Haster remained completely calm as though he had already expected such news.
"I expected as much."
He slowly turned his head toward Ethan.
"My friend."
Ethan looked up in surprise.
'Out of everyone here... why do you have to point at me all of a sudden?'
He quietly complained inside his heart before stepping forward.
"For what, Your Highness?"
Haster smiled faintly.
"The battles ahead will not resemble the ones we have fought until now.The enemy now knows your strength."
"They will not underestimate you again. They will prepare specifically to deal with you."
Ethan scratched the side of his head before letting out a helpless sigh.
"I had a feeling you were going to say that."
A few officers couldn't help smiling.
Even Haster chuckled softly.
"Fame has its advantages."
"But it also paints a target on your back."
Ethan rubbed his forehead helplessly.
"I honestly preferred it when nobody knew who I was."
Duke Osantra laughed loudly.
"That opportunity disappeared the moment you started throwing crimson lightning at Saints for half an hour."
Several people inside the tent quietly laughed.
Even Ethan could only smile bitterly while shaking his head.
"I knew someone was going to bring that up."
The tense atmosphere inside the command tent eased for a short while because of the light conversation. However, Haster soon became serious again, and everyone's expression immediately turned solemn.
"The army will rest until noon."
"After that, we continue marching. Our destination has not changed. We will continue pushing forward. We cannot afford to stop."
Everyone immediately straightened their posture before saluting together.
"Yes, Your Highness."
Haster gave one final nod before looking around the entire tent.
"Go and make your preparations."
"The next few battles..."
He paused briefly while looking toward the entrance of the command tent.
"...may very well decide the future of this entire campaign."
Nobody spoke after hearing those words.
One after another, the commanders saluted before quietly leaving the command tent. Their footsteps gradually faded as they walked outside to prepare their respective troops.
Ethan also turned around and walked toward the entrance.
Just as he reached the curtain, Haster suddenly called out from behind.
"Ethan."
He stopped and turned around.
"Yes, Your Highness?"
Haster looked at him with the same warm smile as always, but his eyes had become much more serious.
"Be careful."
"I have a feeling..."
"The enemy is no longer planning to defeat you. They are planning to kill you."
Ethan remained silent for a brief moment before a small grin slowly appeared on his face.
"I had the same feeling."
After saying those words, he gave a respectful salute before leaving the command tent.
Outside, thousands of soldiers were already preparing for another march. Horses neighed while supply wagons rolled across the camp, and officers loudly shouted commands as the entire army gradually came back to life. Soldiers tightened their armor, checked their weapons, and quickly formed ranks while the camp slowly transformed into a moving fortress once again.
Ethan quietly looked toward the distant horizon where dark clouds had begun gathering once again.
A strange feeling slowly rose inside his heart.
He could not explain why.
But he felt that the next battle would be unlike anything they had faced before.
