Following Ayang's consolidation of power, only Jing State remains outside of Central State's control, with the Buddhist Sect's rebellion crushed. A meeting is called with the princes of the major states, where Wu Zhao declares the end of hereditary systems in favor of meritocracy, requiring the princes to submit to Central State's authority. Su Aqing, after the meeting, instructs Wu Zhao to publicize the reforms and expresses anticipation for a confrontation with Jing State. He then travels to Jing State himself, encountering Xiu Lan and Yun Bing, former acquaintances from an auction, and informs them that they must leave Kyoto due to his impending conflict with the Kyoto Royal Family.
