Godfrey and Isolde discussed the world's relentless evolution, power caps until Ruination, and deadly dungeons that could claim billions. Affirming their resolve against cosmic odds, they prepared for challenges ahead. At breakfast, Isolde defied tradition to sit beside her consort, revealing Rick as the ancient servant of the Dragon King, before he announced visitors—friends of the late miss.

They exchanged glances. Trailing behind Rick to the entrance, they observed as he swung the door wide.

Godfrey and Isolde blinked in astonishment at the view of Isaac, Lucy, Rowana, and Snow.

"Isolde!!" Lucy bounded forward, embracing Isolde firmly while her eyes welled up. "You look so different now."

Her eyes widened as she inspected Isolde. Isolde grinned while Lucy circled around her, her gaze expanding even more.

"I thought I would cry, but I’m jealous at this point," Lucy admitted frankly. Isolde let out a chuckle.

Lucy playfully smacked Godfrey’s arm, then pulled Isolde indoors. As Rowana followed suit, Godfrey shot a fierce glare at Snow.

"You told her!"

"Why are you glaring at me?" Snow jabbed a finger toward Isaac. "The blabbermouth is right here. When he saw Lucy, he couldn’t stop talking."

Isaac avoided Godfrey’s gaze. He bowed his head, utterly mortified.

"Lucy isn’t a clone," he muttered softly.

Godfrey’s brows knitted together.

"You can’t suspect everyone. You’ll end up shutting yourself to the world. It could be what Cain wants," Snow countered, patting Godfrey’s shoulder before stepping inside.

Godfrey closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh.

Snow had a point, yet he refused to lower his defenses.

"This mansion is all yours. Lucky man," Snow’s voice echoed as Isaac hunched over and slunk past Godfrey, who tracked him with piercing eyes.

He wasn’t sure if he should laugh or rage at Isaac.

With everyone entering, Godfrey pivoted. He had taken a few strides when Rick’s words drifted into his ears.

"I’ll prepare the gym."

"Go ahead. Call me when it’s time," Godfrey responded and headed to join the group in the living room.

Once Godfrey settled into a seat, Lucy, seated beside Isolde, turned to him. "I was worried about you. After you left, paradise didn’t feel the same."

Godfrey met her eyes. Words escaped him.

"Percival left after you did, then Isaac was sent away. We were all together, then all of a sudden I was alone. As if that wasn’t enough, Captain Arian and his wife left the cohort."

"I suspected Arian wasn’t the captain any longer," Godfrey’s eyes narrowed.

Isaac managed a strained smile, though his head drooped. Lucy had told him about Arian’s departure from the cohort, and guilt gnawed at him.

"The current Captain is a man who summons black knights, right?" Godfrey inquired.

Lucy nodded. "Captain Saul now leads. He made us invade an orc world. Your father and mother were part of the team. We brought down two settlements but faced a horde, and they forced us to retreat."

"You invaded a world?!" Snow scowled.

"Why?" Rowana eyed Lucy.

"Because the Captain was after a relic called the Soul Piercing Rod, a weapon that can kill anyone and they can never be brought back to life."

Godfrey’s eyes flashed. Soul Piercing Rod! The very weapon that slew Tempest’s first mate!

’So when I saw my parents in that forest, it wasn’t just any dungeon, they were in an orc world. They were led there by that man.’

"You said the cohort was forced to retreat. Are my parents okay?" he pressed.

"They’re fine," Lucy assured. "Thalia didn’t make it, though. I saw her get shot down by that rod. Her scream pierced the entire battlefield, and none of us could do anything but defend ourselves against the almost endless number of orcs."

Lucy balled her fists. "We finally found the Horde Chieftain with the rod, but we couldn’t face his army. We lost over forty cohort members and a greater number of summons. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the captain and your dad, we would have been wiped out. Abaddon, one of the captain’s summons, was riddled with several axes embedded into his armour, yet he was able to pave a path to break the encirclement, while the other black knight froze thousands of orcs. Unfortunately, the Horde Chieftain was able to counter her ice."

Lucy’s eyes dulled.

"The captain eventually unleashed his first summon to fight the Horde Chieftain, but we left, so I don’t know if the captain has the rod or lost it."

"Thalia’s dead?" Isaac murmured.

Lucy nodded, biting her lip to hold back her feelings.

’Saul...’ Godfrey snarled inside, grinding his teeth.

"What’s happening now?" he demanded.

"The captain is offering incentives. He’s willing to use a skill he calls Demigod’s Essence. I heard it’s a Titled god Tier skill that can make anyone’s summon a Paragon or even a Progenitor. Saul wants to use Apollyon and Abaddon’s essence, and even his first summon. That was enough to attract many people to join the cohort. There’s also massive external recruitment. We’ve been going out to find humanoid summoners, hunting dungeons. He’s doing all he can do to make the cohort stronger, but the death count just keeps increasing, and he calls it filtering the weak."

"That’s cruel."

’It’s our reality,’ Isolde thought to herself.

"When will he choose those for the essence?" Godfrey leaned in closer, fingers interlaced tightly.

"Not at this moment. All participants are engaged in training and dungeon explorations right now. He plans to select the top ones in about a month or two, without a fixed schedule."

"Perhaps the lack of a date is intentional, using this lure to boost and fortify the entire group. Should he withhold the prize, the cohort would still emerge far more powerful," Snow countered.

"Demigod’s Essence comes with serious downsides. For starters, the summoned being will remain feeble and battle-unfit for days, while the summoner can't draw mana into their body temporarily. Even with Paragons and Progenitors at your command, their allegiance isn't guaranteed, and they could possess a diluted form of your ability," Isolde clarified. She had learned this from Rick.

Meanwhile, Godfrey mulled over these abilities. The Paragon Tier Eclipsal State skill held minimal value for him. Grief Transfer risked inflicting heavy harm on his knights, potentially even their demise.

Immortality didn't spare them from suffering pain. He also recoiled at the idea of bestowing his summon's essence upon someone else. Not for the time being, anyway. Will Freeze stood out as the sole truly beneficial skill among them, another Titled god Tier one.

"Could this guy be a clone?" Snow wondered aloud.

"Clone or not, the current leader is the primary Saul, so this reflects his true character," Godfrey answered.

"Let’s take him out." Isaac’s eyes burned with fury.
