Previously on Online: I Can See Health Bars...
Fang Yu stocked up on instant noodles and canned food before donning his acquired game helmet for the launch of Seeking Demon. Matched as the impoverished Diao Deyi from Tianyuan Town, he faces pressure from the Black Tiger Gang over his brother's gambling debt, forcing him to join as an enforcer to spare his sister. A lucky gift package grants him the [Digital Life] skill, allowing him to see health bars, revealing the four surrounding thugs' low HP values alongside his own fragile 7/7.

Seven blood droplets??

Just seven blood droplets left for me? And that's considered full health??

Damn!

I'm seriously like, damn!

"Yo! You’re awake!"

Fang Yu's condition caught someone's eye.

"Get up, Diao Deyi, still pretending to be dead?"

Smack!

Fang Yu received a slap from a rough-faced man displaying [Wang Er] over his head.

The burning pain jolted Fang Yu right away.

Holy shit!

Such realism!

This NPC's expressions and actions!

Amazing!

This game will explode in popularity! It'll become a massive success!

Simultaneously, a figure emerged above his head.

"-1."

Hold on, hold on!

That much pain deducts only one blood droplet?

Still, with the character's mere 7 health points, dropping one-seventh feels somewhat fair.

That said, the pain intensity surely requires toning down.

Fang Yu whispered softly: "System, bring up the settings menu."

Yet... silence followed.

Fang Yu froze in shock.

Right then, Wang Er shoved him from the table where he lay.

"Muttering what? Got beef with your Daddy Wang?"

Thud.

Fang Yu crashed onto the floor.

"-0.5."

Health can drop by 0.5 points??

Fang Yu gaped in disbelief, then glanced down to spot a hand.

A cut-off hand.

"Holy crap!?"

Fang Yu pushed himself up fast, his palms turning slick with blood.

Glancing about the cramped room, seven or eight health bars shimmered, including [Li An: 2/10].

A closer look revealed it was the severed-hand fellow, clinging desperately to life.

The rest lingered at 3 or 4 health points, sprawled and moaning.

Fang Yu stood rooted.

What is this mess? A slaughter site?

"Making a big deal out of nothing."

Wang Er approached Li An, seized his hair, and jerked his head upward.

"One more time: where's the cash?"

"The money... under that brick... spare me... please..."

Smack!

Wang Er slammed Li An's head against the floor!

-1!

A large damage figure burst forth.

Li An blacked out instantly, with '-0.1', '-0.1' flickering sporadically overhead.

This guy's on the brink of death!

Wang Er ignored it, pried up the brick, and uncovered a pouch of silver below. He hefted it—quite heavy.

A grin spread across Wang Er's face, until shouts erupted nearby.

"Wang Er! That money's off-limits! It's the Shopkeeper's fund for his wife's cure! No cash, and she's done for!"

"Brother Wang, snatching this makes you no better than a killer? You slave for the gambling den, but keep some humanity!"

"Right! Shopkeeper's paying up, yet you barge in smashing and bashing—no regard for the law!"

The surrounding protests made Wang Er scoff.

"Debt collection is justified! Whatever mess your Shopkeeper got into, dodging payment on due date is on him! And you scraps? Earning 10 coins daily—what's worth protecting?"

Then he faced Fang Yu.

"Diao Deyi, go smack him!"

"Huh? I have to?"

"Quiet! Skip it, and you're next! I'll shatter your limbs! Remember, you're our muscle! Slack off, and your sister's off to Yanliu Lane tomorrow to whore!"

Zhao Tian chuckled too.

"All that sibling loyalty during collections was fake? Too gutless to swing for sis, yet claim you'd endure for her."

No need for the mockery—I didn't fake it, the character bore the burden for sis on his own; it's unrelated to me!

Plus, Diao Deyi is Diao Deyi; I'm Fang Yu—totally different.

Nevertheless...

An notion struck Fang Yu, prompting him to approach the man quietly.

[Peng Xi:4/9.]

Beneath Peng Xi’s glaring eyes, Fang Yu lifted his fist and tapped the chest lightly.

"-0.1."

Fang Yu: ...

Peng Xi: ?

The feeble tap baffled Peng Xi, who stared at Fang Yu’s fist in confusion.

Wang Er blew up.

"What crap? Punching like a weakling! Here to mooch? Harder, idiot!"

The other three goons burst laughing, landing solid blows on the assistant.

"-1."

"-1."

"-1."

Damage popped from the assistants.

"Watch, Diao Deyi—this is proper punching!"

"No power in fists? Useless!"

"Use feet if arms fail! Got it? Strike fierce! Slack, and you're the target!"

Exactly as suspected!

A revelation hit Fang Yu.

This has to be the system's intro lesson.

Guiding combat basics via this target and setup—awkward, sure.

Whatever, all NPCs anyway.

Fang Yu swung harder, smashing full force into the nose!

Bang!

The strike connected.

"-1."

Damage showed.

"Ow! Solid hit!"

"Nice! I approve that swing!"

Wang Er and crew whooped.

Fang Yu got the flow, landing another "-1" that dropped the health to [1.9/9].

Eying the downed 'practice dummy', he figured a couple more would end it.

Yet he paused—slaying such a vivid NPC felt off, like murdering real folk. Couldn't stomach it.

Surveying again, Wang Er's bunch held back smartly, halting at 1 or 2 health. Nobody finished the job.

Lucky he noticed, or rash killing might spark unknown chaos.

Mid-thought, the pharmacy door flew open, revealing a stunning yet weary green-robed woman.

[Chen Qilan: 1/3.]

Whoa, first max 3-health character—super frail.

Chen Qilan's face went rigid at the pharmacy's carnage; terror drained her color as she shrieked.

"Ah ah ah ah!!"

The assistants paled.

"The lady boss!"

"Lady boss, retreat inside now!"

Lady boss? The Shopkeeper's spouse?

The wife attempted escape, but Wang Er blocked her.

Spotting her, Wang Er's gaze turned predatory, brimming with desire!

He lunged, seizing the fleeing woman.

-0.5.

Grip bruises marred her arm as he forced her onto the table.

"Brothers, jackpot today. I start, then you, Diao Deyi included."

Fang Yu: ????

Treating me that well?

Fang Yu realized dropping morals could let him dominate and commit evils!

Way too evil—I refuse to play the villain.
