Online: I Can See Health Bars Chapter 1834 - 830: Makes Sense
Previously on Online: I Can See Health Bars...
In terms of achievement and height, Zhuge Shi had never felt that those powerful figures who studied other fields were inferior to her; she would always look at this matter fairly and impartially.
Therefore, Zhuge Shi held considerable respect for experts in any field.
As for Master Ouyang, she had naturally heard much about him.
I wonder, if my Sword Dao were to face Master Ouyang’s Arrays, which would prove stronger, which weaker.
Zhuge Shi pondered quietly in her heart.
The number of Arrays Master Ouyang had left behind was extremely large—born of love, driving him to delve deeper; because of that study, he grew specialized; because of that specialization, he became formidable.
Even after many years of fame, he still continued to produce new Array works without pause.
Yet perhaps it was because he had already reached the pinnacle of the Array field, and could no longer see a road forward.
These past years, the Arrays that could move Master Ouyang to personally take action and leave behind his work were all somewhat research-oriented, Arrays with special effects, rather than the traditional offensive grand Arrays and the like.
Thus, for ordinary people, it was instead the Arrays Master Ouyang had left in his earlier years that were lofty, unfathomable, mysterious and mighty, and gave a sense of reassurance.
Only those who had likewise attained something in the field of Arrays would, upon seeing those recent Arrays of Master Ouyang that "look good but are not practical," bow their heads deeply before this peerless genius, feeling totally ashamed, despondent, and even suffering a shattering of their Dao Heart.
Zhuge Shi likewise belonged to the laymen.
So she did not understand why the Arrays Master Ouyang had laid out in recent years gained worse and worse reputations, with only other Array experts in the same field praising them unreservedly, calling them works of a god, as if reveling in their own little circle.
But Zhuge Shi knew one thing: the grand Array currently within the Imperial Palace had been personally redesigned by Master Ouyang. It inherited the plain yet formidable offensive traits of the old Array, while also incorporating Master Ouyang’s insights and comprehensions from these years. It could well be called the foremost grand Array in the world today within common recognition.
Such a mysterious and mighty existence—let alone the trifling Bi Family, even she herself wished to make his acquaintance.
The organization behind her would no doubt also be interested in making contact, and might even have already done so in secret; it was just that at that time she had not yet become Hei Ningyu and was unaware of such matters.
Those endowed with heaven-defying talent inevitably had eccentric dispositions.
Though Master Ouyang was an Array Master, he was not controlled by the court, sought no official post, and simply resided in the Capital, keeping company with the Arrays he himself had created, amusing himself and nothing more. On ordinary days he was basically never seen, nor did anyone have the qualification to see him.
Moreover, Master Ouyang loved only Arrays throughout his life, not swayed by kinship or affection, dancing only with Arrays, and thus finding joy, with virtually no weak point.
And so long as the members of his family did not step out of the gates of Ouyang Mansion, few experts could break through the grand Array protecting his estate, and there was basically no danger to speak of.
Yet as the saying goes, wealth does not last beyond three generations. Although Master Ouyang rarely stepped outside, his descendants often showed their faces in public, and so there had indeed been cases of capture, threats, and even death and injury.
But none of these relatives could affect or threaten Master Ouyang in the slightest. No matter what demands the other party made, Master Ouyang ignored them, and the people of the court would appear at the first opportunity to help carry out the rescue.
So later, the people of the Ouyang Family gradually became safe instead—because everyone knew that even if you threw the direct son of Master Ouyang in front of him and cut his throat as a threat, Master Ouyang would not be coerced into constructing Arrays for anyone.
Coupled with the fact that threatening the Ouyang Family was tantamount to becoming an enemy of the court, there were even fewer who had the guts to try.
But this also led to one consequence: Master Ouyang almost never left his estate, and it had become nearly impossible to form ties with him.
No matter how one tried to ingratiate oneself with other members of the Ouyang Family, the emotionally indifferent Master Ouyang would not grant an audience to outsiders because of it.
Nowadays Master Ouyang very rarely went out, devoting his entire mind to the study of Arrays, having long removed himself from worldly affairs and no longer intervening.
This made it nearly impossible for others to build ties with him; they could not even see his face, as if he had become a man of legend. Obviously still alive, yet as if dead—only his name was heard, never his person seen.
So with regard to this figure who seemed as if from myth, it was impossible for the Bi Family to claim they had no desire to make his acquaintance.
The question was...
"Our Bi Family is of course interested in making Master Ouyang’s acquaintance. The issue is, on what grounds are we supposed to believe that you have this ability?"
That was the exalted Master Ouyang. What qualification did a mere obscure youngster have to introduce them to Master Ouyang?
Bi Zuo looked at Fang Yu coldly, his eyes full of disbelief.
"This kind of matter is not convenient to explain in detail here. If Elder Bi is interested, I would ask that you pass word on to your Family Head. I will not disappoint you."
Fang Yu spoke candidly, his expression calm, carrying its own measure of poise.
Though Zhuge Shi beside him wore a completely bewildered look of someone who had never seen the world, entirely out of the loop.
Even so, Fang Yu’s bearing still won Bi Zuo’s approval.
He lowered his head to ponder slightly, then raised it and said.
"Wait here for me."
With that, Bi Zuo rose and walked toward the room behind.
Left behind, Fang Yu’s lips curved slightly.
Chances were, this would work out.
He turned his head to glance back at Zhuge Shi.
"Are you alright?"
Zhuge Shi gave a slight nod.
She fell silent for a moment, then came back to herself.
"Just now..."
She had not finished speaking when sudden footsteps sounded from deep within the room, and she stopped mid-sentence.
Only to see two people walking out from inside.
One was Bi Zuo.
