Monk Quan Heng and Ding Hui attempt to inspect the Soothing Spirit Pillar, but are initially stopped by guards. The Third Elder, An Haian, intervenes and allows them closer. Ding Hui, fascinated by the pillar, impulsively touches it and is shocked by the electricity, though her modified body withstands the jolt. The An Family Head then arrives, seemingly aware of Ding Hui's presence, and invites her and Monk Quan Heng to speak elsewhere. As they leave, another powerful figure, Lord Duan, arrives and seems to recognize Ding Hui.

"What a shame, it truly is a pity that the An Mansion is currently occupied with significant affairs and cannot entertain Divine Doctor Ding properly. Otherwise, we would undoubtedly ensure Divine Doctor Ding receives a fitting reception."

Upon hearing the An Family Head's lament, Ding Hui perceived that the elder's expression did not seem feigned at all.

"What do you mean, my lord? As long as you require it, as long as the An Mansion has need, I can return at any moment to offer my services!"

Ding Hui was merely exchanging pleasantries, a fact the An Family Head recognized.

Yet, what was truly astonishing was that after her identity was revealed, the An Family Head actually intended to let Ding Hui depart immediately, not even permitting her to stay the night!

"Amitabha, allow me to escort Master Ding on her journey."

"Then I shall trouble Master Quan Heng."

While Ding Hui could leave, Monk Quan Heng could not.

Before the ceremony concluded, Quan Heng was unable to depart from the premises.

This seemed to be the unified decision of the An Mansion; the An Family's Third Elder had also conveyed this sentiment prior.

Observing Ding Hui and Monk Quan Heng exit the room together, and only after their figures had vanished from sight, did the An Family Head speak with a faint tone.

"She has departed."

A figure clad in black robes emerged partially from the doorway.

"...I observed."

The An Family Head offered a slight smile.

"Hui Yao, our cooperation spans many years, yet this is the first time I've witnessed you exhibit such concern for a woman."

The figure in the black robe cast a cold glance towards the person within the room. Despite the thick darkness obscuring their features, that chilling gaze immediately instilled an unusual sensation in the An Family Head.

The An Family Head suppressed his smile.

Moments before, when Hui Yao unexpectedly appeared at the door, requesting him to dismiss the woman accompanying Monk Quan Heng, the An Family Head had felt utterly bewildered.

Now, he began to grasp Hui Yao's underlying concerns.

But...

"Is that woman truly worth your apprehension? I recall her medical skills were merely adequate when she left Thunder City."

Hui Yao simply shook his head.

"You do not comprehend. Ding Hui... Her capabilities have never solely rested upon her medical expertise."

The An Family Head frowned but refrained from further comment.

An insignificant ant, so easily crushed, was hardly worth diverting extra attention towards.

"Even if she has uncovered something, it will not alter the outcome; your worry is superfluous. Furthermore, if you genuinely perceive that woman as a threat, I will arrange for her elimination."

"She is but a Divine Doctor; Thunder City abounds with them. Within our An family alone, we possess three. The other Ten Great Families each retain at least one Divine Doctor in their households."

The An Family Head genuinely did not consider Ding Hui to be particularly special.

However, just as he concluded his statement...

Swish!

Though it was impossible to discern Hui Yao's expression through the pitch-black robe, the An Family Head could distinctly sense an icy, bone-chilling killing intent emanating from Hui Yao.

"Do not lay a hand on her! Merely ensure she does not approach the An Mansion."

"...As you wish. At this critical juncture, with the mansion's designated corpses nearly in position, I have no desire to invite extraneous complications or disrupt the plan."

"Ultimately... Very well, I shall offer my assistance at the appointed time."

"Hahaha! Lord Duan, what are you implying? Aiding me is aiding yourself! It is merely a matter of mutual support!"

The atmosphere once again turned amicable, and at this precise moment, hurried footsteps could be heard echoing from the corridor outside.

"Master! Master! There is a developing situation!"

How reckless!

The An Family Head's expression darkened. Glancing towards the door to address Hui Yao, he found that Hui Yao had already vanished by the time the voice had sounded.

"..."

That individual's aura grows increasingly elusive. Even for me, prior to any engagement, ascertaining his current strength remains uncertain.

The An Family Head fell into contemplation.

Meanwhile, the butler, who had rushed to deliver the report, hastily arrived at the doorway.

"Master! We have received intelligence from our informants; an individual is actively slaying demons within Thunder City!"

A slow frown creased the An Family Head's brow.

"Is that a trivial matter? Old Xuan, you are no longer young, and your actions are quite impulsive."

Given Thunder City's vastness, the presence of rogue demons within its confines was not unusual.

Their occasional discovery and subsequent elimination were commonplace occurrences.

If true peace were to prevail across the land, what purpose would the Foolish Underworld serve?

"If there is nothing further, you may withdraw. I shall proceed to inspect the Soothing Spirit Pillar."

As the day drew nearer, even the An Family Head could not help but feel a burgeoning sense of apprehension.

"Master! Not merely one!" the butler exclaimed, his voice laced with anxiety.

"What?"

The An Family Head turned to the butler, his expression laced with bewilderment.

"Not merely one, but several demons slain? Such formidable power! Investigate their origins. If they prove reputable, we should extend an invitation to join us."

"Master, since this morning, when the first sighting occurred until now, no fewer than a dozen demons have met their end! One of our own disguised demons was also eliminated! And this individual continues their fervent crusade, showing no inclination to cease their relentless pursuit! They are still at it!!"

Swish—

This abrupt revelation caused the An Family Head to rise swiftly from his seat.

"In broad daylight, do not utter such baseless claims!"

Initially rebuking the butler with frosty tones, he then inquired with a deepened voice, "Who dares to stir up such a commotion? Is it a stray dog from the Zhang Family? Or perhaps a hound from the Qin Family? I had only just laid out the advantages and disadvantages for them, and now they resort to such madness? Do they truly believe our days of ease will persist once Lan Yuhe successfully defends the Demon Capital? A collection of myopic fools!"

The butler remained with his head bowed, refraining from any vocalization.

Regarding the other Ten Great Families and the internal conflicts among their Clan Heads, he felt he was not in a position of authority to interfere.

"Speak! Have you ascertained the identity of the one disrupting our affairs yet?"

"No, Master. The news only recently reached us. This individual eliminates a demon and departs immediately, never lingering. It is as though they possess meticulous intelligence on the demons hidden within the city, acting with decisive precision and astonishing efficiency! At this pace... Master, before dusk, within our sphere of influence, there may still be a few more 'individuals' facing dire circumstances!"
