Fang Yu receives the Talisman of Malevolence Dispelling from Qiu Xiaoping, securing a promise of more. To gain further information and fully join the Rebel Army, Fang Yu must meet their leader. Meanwhile, Qiu Xiaoping assigns Qin Er as Fang Yu's maid to spy on him, and Tu Guren joins the Autumn Department.

A sense of unease washed over Fang Yu.

He pondered why Ding Hui’s behavior struck him as peculiar.

Yet, upon further reflection, he couldn't pinpoint any definitive irregularities.

Leaving the room with some hesitation, he stepped out.

The moment Fang Yu emerged, he encountered Monk Quan Heng exiting the adjacent chamber.

Monk Quan Heng was holding a letter bearing the inscription "An Mansion," causing Fang Yu’s heart to flutter.

"Master Quan Heng, are you departing?" Fang Yu inquired.

Monk Quan Heng gestured with the letter in his hand, then shook his head.

"The An Mansion summoned me back, but I declined. Their preparations are incomplete, and returning prematurely would leave me idle. However, I am deeply concerned about Master Ye’s ailment at the An Mansion. If possible, I would like to invite Master Ding to accompany me to the An Mansion to attend to Master Ye’s healing."

Fang Yu found relief that Monk Quan Heng was not leaving immediately.

The prospect of having Ding Hui accompany Monk Quan Heng to the An Mansion for a consultation, however, gave him pause.

"Perhaps we can discuss it upon my return?" Fang Yu suggested, still feeling a lingering sense of disquiet.

"Amitabha." Monk Quan Heng responded with a serene smile and a nod.

Free from immediate concern, Fang Yu bid farewell to Monk Quan Heng.

Shortly thereafter, he departed from the Forest Snake Gang alongside Qiu Xiaoping and the others.

Not long after Fang Yu and Qiu Xiaoping’s departure, an unexpected visitor arrived.

"Song Zhenrong of the Foolish Underworld requests an audience with Divine Doctor Ding!" came the booming announcement.

...

"You do remember how to return?" Bo Shan’s voice was sharp with coldness.

Song Qianlong, who had just re-entered the room, froze mid-step.

"I’ve been occupied with numerous social obligations recently, my apologies for any inconvenience, my dear." He advanced, attempting to place his hands on Bo Shan’s shoulders, but she abruptly stood, evading his touch.

Moving towards the bedside and turning her back to her nominal husband, Bo Shan spoke with icy formality, "Do you have any inkling of what I’ve endured in your absence?"

Song Qianlong’s gaze flickered. He possessed no such knowledge.

Mere moments prior, he had been in the company of Che Xintai.

"Did you encounter difficulties, my dear?" he inquired solicitously.

"Difficulties? Indeed, there were troubles. You are aware of the Defiled Blood Clone Demon, are you not? It assaulted the Song Mansion last night, and I narrowly escaped peril during a confrontation with it."

The Defiled Blood Clone Demon?! How could it dare approach the mansion of its own accord!

A heavy heart settling upon him, Song Qianlong, maintaining a facade of concern, hurried to Bo Shan’s side. His face contorted with feigned worry as he clasped her delicate hands.

"My dear! Were you injured? How could such a mere Defiled Blood Clone Demon possess such audacity! I shall address the ineptitude of the Foolish Underworld later! It has been an extensive period, and they have yet to apprehend a single demon; now it brazenly causes chaos at my residence, frightening my beloved wife!"

Observing Song Qianlong’s seemingly impassioned display and feeling the warmth of his hands enclosing hers, the resentment within Bo Shan’s heart began to subside considerably, her own heart softening.

After all, he is my husband… After all, I am a daughter-in-law of the Song family…

"Husband, could you perhaps spend more time with me in the future, please?" Bo Shan withdrew her hand and leaned her body against Song Qianlong.

This gesture left Song Qianlong unsettled. Was this woman genuinely submitting, or was she harboring ulterior motives?

Gently stroking Bo Shan’s back, Song Qianlong's eyes grew colder. With the grand scheme nearing its culmination, matters of romance were of no consequence to him.

Once the woman in his arms had composed herself, Song Qianlong promptly declared, "My dear, please rest. I shall attend to matters with the Foolish Underworld!"

After making this statement, he feigned departure, only to be held back by Bo Shan.

"There’s no need! I am quite well… just remain with me more, husband."

"Naturally, spending time with my dear is paramount, but I must also confer with those in the Foolish Underworld! To perform such shoddy work, are they not seeking the Song family’s patronage this year?"

Witnessing Song Qianlong’s readiness to champion her cause, Bo Shan felt a surge of genuine emotion, experiencing for the first time the true meaning of being a wife, her heart filled with an unexpected warmth.

...

Fengtianmen Lane.

Fang Yu had not anticipated returning to this location.

The Foolish Underworld’s blockade had been lifted.

The Defiled Blood Clone Demon had been present at the Forest Snake Gang the previous night, meaning the Foolish Underworld contingent stationed here had yielded no results.

Otherwise, had the primary entity been eliminated by the Foolish Underworld, the previous night’s turmoil would not have occurred.

On the street, just as on his previous visit, an utter lack of any signs of life prevailed.

Occasionally, a cautious eye would peer from the narrow gap of a closed door.

"Lord Qiu, is this the Rebel Army’s…" a voice inquired tentatively.

"No. Rebel Army hideouts are dispersed throughout Thunder City; this is merely one such location," Qiu Xiaoping clarified.

Is that so… Fang Yu had harbored the expectation of encountering high-ranking members of the Rebel Army, assuming this to be their central headquarters.

It appeared that he had been mistaken after all.

He hadn't even officially joined the Rebel Army, so they wouldn't possibly reveal their headquarters' location. Without such stringent measures, the Rebel Army couldn't have survived this long, evading the Foolish Underworld and the Ten Major Families within Thunder City.

"This is the location."

Approaching a secluded spot and halting before a residence, Qiu Xiaoping tapped on the door in a distinct rhythm.

Moments later, the door creaked open just a sliver.

"The sky is high, the earth is shallow..."

The individual inside was poised to exchange coded phrases, but his demeanor shifted dramatically upon recognizing Qiu Xiaoping.

"Welcome, my lord! Please, come in!"

Qiu Xiaoping led the way, with Fang Yu, Qin Er, and the others following him into the dwelling.

A quick scan of the interior.

The unadorned furniture and weathered walls showed no discernible features.

"My lord, this way, if you please. The other lords have been anticipating your arrival downstairs for quite some time."

The aged attendant guided them forward, pausing by a hearth. He brushed aside the debris and actuated a concealed mechanism resembling a secret lever.

A section of the ground beside the fire pit slowly gave way, revealing an opening.

A hidden passage leading downward became visible to all present.
