Outside a modest suburban residence, a black Rolls-Royce Phantom glided to a halt and parked.
Twilight was settling in, and as the sun dipped below the horizon, dark clouds began to gather in the evening sky.
The chauffeur stepped out to open the rear door for his employer. Mia Ashford emerged from the vehicle, her curvaceous figure draped in an elegant blue one-piece dress.
Her husband followed closely behind. Dressed in a sharp black suit, his short dark hair perfectly complemented his handsome facial features.
Adam surveyed the house before them and remarked, "Well, comparing our place to the estate we just left, it's clear I’m not built for the billionaire lifestyle—or even being a millionaire. I honestly prefer this home over any other."
"I agree," Mia replied with a nod. "However, if we intend to support Oliver's future, we can't stay settled here, regardless of how cozy it feels. As Oliver begins to move in higher social circles, we can't have people looking down on him because his parents live in such a mediocre environment."
"Hmm. I suppose that makes sense."
Mia let out a soft laugh at how quickly Adam agreed to abandon their comfort for Oliver’s sake.
To be honest, she adored this quality in him; he consistently prioritized family above everything else.
With a lingering, warm smile, she turned toward the house and started walking to the front entrance.
Adam soon caught up, wrapping an arm around her waist as they walked side-by-side.
Reaching the door, Mia pushed it open and they stepped inside.
Upon entering, they saw Amara, Oliver’s sister, resting on the sofa in the living room.
She was clad in a tight-fitting shirt that hugged her shapely figure, emphasizing her ample chest and slender waist.
Below, a short skirt highlighted her rounded hips and well-formed legs.
The young woman appeared lost in a trance, staring into the distance and seemingly oblivious to her parents' arrival.
Noticing her daughter's state, Mia’s brow furrowed with concern.
"Amara!"
Startled by the loud mention of her name, Amara blinked and snapped out of her daydream.
She looked up to see her mother and father entering the room.
"Huh? Oh, welcome back Mom, Dad," she said, greeting them with a forced smile.
Mia, however, was not convinced. She could tell that something was weighing heavily on her daughter's mind.
"Did something happen today?" Mia inquired, taking a seat beside her on the couch and gently stroking Amara’s soft cheek.
The affectionate gesture brought a faint smile to Amara’s lips as she replied, "Well..."
She hesitated for a moment, organizing her thoughts, before deciding to be completely transparent about her feelings.
"Today, after I finished my final exam, I stopped by my boyfriend's place like I usually do. That's when he broke up with me..."
Amara paused, swallowing hard against the lump in her throat. She continued in a low whisper, making it difficult for Mia and Adam to catch every word.
"That is why I’m so out of it right now. I’m just unsure of what to do. It’s not as if I was deeply in love with him or anything... but for some reason, I just feel sad..."
"I understand. So that's the reason..." Mia nodded with a sympathetic expression. "Amara, the only advice I can give is not to dwell on it. The most vital thing in life is your own happiness. If someone isn't bringing you joy, you have to let them go."
"Yes, Mom," Amara murmured in agreement.
Adam chimed in, "I agree with your mother, Amara. Life is far too short to waste time worrying about things beyond your control or seeking happiness from people who don't provide it."
Their supportive words lifted her mood, and Amara found herself smiling genuinely as she looked at her parents.
It was then she realized that her mother and father looked entirely different than they had earlier that day.
Their attire was far more sophisticated, expensive, and stylish than she was used to seeing.
"By the way, Mom, Dad, you both look different. Did you go somewhere special before coming home?" Amara asked, inspecting their high-end clothes.
Mia smiled at her daughter’s curiosity and answered, "We did. And we are planning on taking you there as well."
"Do you mean another vacation?" Amara asked. "That sounds great, especially since I just finished exams. I could really use a break to relax and clear my head."
Adam shook his head. "No, it's not a vacation. What Mia means is that we are moving. We are going to live in a mansion owned by your grandfather from now on."
Amara’s jaw dropped in shock. "What?! Grandfather's mansion?! Wait, I thought I didn't have a grandfather anymore?!"
Mia didn't hold back the truth this time. She laid everything out, explaining the inheritance her father was passing to Oliver and the necessity of their move.
Naturally, Mia also revealed the reasons why she had severed ties with her family as a teenager and why she hadn't seen them since.
As Amara listened to the hardships Mia had endured in her youth, she couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sorrow for her mother.
However, Amara quickly pushed those heavy feelings aside, realizing that Mia wasn't looking for pity.
Furthermore, there was a more pressing matter Amara needed to address immediately.
Amara looked Mia straight in the eye and said, "Mom, Dad, since this change is going to affect my life significantly too, I have one condition if you want me to go along with this."
"Of course, let's hear it, my dear," Mia encouraged, giving her the floor to speak her mind.
