The moment the wood settled back into the doorframe, the illusion began to fade like mist beneath the sun. The brown hair slowly regained its deep black color, while the fine silver strands reappeared among it like threads of moonlight woven into the night.
The ordinary features dissolved, and her skin once again acquired the delicate, almost ethereal radiance that defined her. Her eyes regained that mysterious serenity that seemed to conceal countless secrets, as though entire universes lay within their depths.
Within a few seconds, the true Gao Ziyue stood before him once again, her presence filling the room like a gentle light.
She let out a quiet breath, as though she had been holding it throughout the entire process.
"Much better."
Kyrian smiled faintly, a smile that was more one of acknowledgment than reaction.
"That ability is impressive. I’ve seen a few illusion techniques before, but none this complete. You can deceive every sense at once, vision, spiritual perception, even intuition."
She seemed pleased by the compliment, a faint glimmer of pride shining in her eyes.
"My Heavenly Physique possesses a great affinity for illusions. It’s not something I learned; it’s a natural extension of my very being, as instinctive as breathing or thinking."
"This kind of transformation is one of the abilities I’ve developed over the years, one of the most useful for surviving in the middle of a crowd."
As she spoke, she walked toward the sofa, her movements light and graceful. With the utmost care, she placed the black glass tray upon the polished wooden table, the two items resting upon its surface like offerings on an altar. Only then did she sit back down beside Kyrian, the distance between them now comfortable and natural.
For a few moments, they both remained silently observing the two objects, each lost in their own thoughts. The beast pouch, with its silver runes, and the egg, with its pulsing violet glow, seemed to contain entire worlds within them.
It was Kyrian who finally broke the silence, his voice filled with curiosity.
"You don’t have to pay now?"
Gao Ziyue let out a soft laugh, light and genuine.
"No."
She rested an elbow on the armrest of the sofa, her posture relaxed.
"Everything is automatically recorded in the Sky Family’s account. It’s one of the privileges of having an exclusive room."
Her tone was calm, as though she were explaining something perfectly ordinary.
"That room has a formation directly connected to the Auction House’s financial department. The moment a bid is confirmed, they know exactly who made the purchase and deduct the amount from the family’s account. There’s no need for confirmation, signatures, or bureaucratic procedures."
She subtly gestured toward the door, a motion that encompassed the entire system behind it.
"When we use this room, no one bothers us asking for payment or confirmation. The entire process has already been arranged, everything was agreed upon generations ago. It’s one of the benefits of having such an ancient relationship with the Auction House."
Kyrian immediately understood. It truly was convenient, an efficiency that only power and tradition could provide. Moreover, it made perfect sense for the most powerful family in the entire Sky Caravan, whose name alone was already a sufficient guarantee for any transaction.
Gao Ziyue then carefully picked up the Spiritual Beast Pouch, her fingers wrapping around the dark leather with the reverence of someone who recognized the value of a finely crafted item. She extended it toward Kyrian, a simple gesture that carried the weight of her trust.
"Here."
"Thank you."
He accepted the pouch with both hands, feeling its weight and texture. Even without using spiritual energy, he could immediately tell it was of exceptional quality.
The leather was durable, yet surprisingly soft to the touch, as though it had been treated with special oils for generations. The runes engraved across its surface were deep and exquisitely carved, every stroke filled with purpose and precision.
His spiritual perception gently entered the interior of the pouch, exploring the space that extended far beyond its physical appearance. He found a spacious, stable environment completely filled with gentle, revitalizing Qi, a remarkable contrast to the common spiritual stables found throughout the city, which were often cramped, dark, and uncomfortable for spiritual beasts.
A faint smile appeared on his lips. Arcon, his Winged Horse, would certainly be much more comfortable there. The space was large enough for him to move around freely, the Qi was dense enough to sustain his energy, and the environment was welcoming enough that he would never feel confined.
Without wasting any time, he carefully stored the pouch inside his spatial ring, the item disappearing in a flash of light.
When he turned his gaze back to the table, his eyes once again fell upon the egg. The delicate golden lines continued to pulse slowly with a steady, comforting rhythm. It seemed perfectly calm, completely motionless, as though it were patiently waiting for the right moment.
Gao Ziyue also turned her attention back to the egg, her eyes softening as she looked at it. With both hands, she carefully lifted it from the glass tray and gently placed it at the very center of the table, her movements extraordinarily delicate. Almost maternal.
She softly ran the tips of her fingers across one of the purple scales, feeling its smooth, cool texture. A subtle smile appeared on her face, a smile meant more for herself than for him.
Kyrian noticed that smile, the way her eyes shone with a newfound light.
"So..." He tilted his head slightly, curiosity filling his voice.
"What was the interesting thing you wanted to show me?"
Gao Ziyue raised her eyes to meet his. Her smile became slightly more mysterious, a spark of childlike excitement hidden within her expression. She looked like someone about to share a secret she had kept for a very long time, a surprise she had been quietly preparing.
"You’re about to find out."
Without saying another word, she slowly raised her left hand, her movements fluid and deliberate. Then she brought her index finger to her lips.
She gently bit the tip of her finger, the touch almost imperceptible. A small drop of scarlet blood emerged, gleaming like a liquid ruby. Then another. And another.
