In the depths of the Celestial Mountain, a sacred ceremony unfolded as followers worshipped a mysterious black flame embodying the Abyss Flame. Hong Hae-a, the fire incarnation, was confounded as the flame, which he believed to belong to him, instead gravitated towards the Heavenly Demon. As their confrontation escalated, the Heavenly Demon demonstrated mastery over the Abyss Flame, subjecting Hong Hae-a to unimaginable pain. In a desperate attempt to save her son, Iron Fan Immortal offered her own life, but the Heavenly Demon's cold resolve led to a horrific moment as he severed Hong Hae-a's limbs, showing no mercy for the bond of motherhood.

Chapter 498.3 – Side Story 7 Part 1

Oblivion (1)

“Aaaaaaaaargh!!!”

A harrowing shriek tore from the throat of the great spirit, Iron Fan Immortal, her eyes stretching wide until they threatened to bleed.

She had tried to prepare herself for the worst, but witnessing her son Hong Hae-a’s limbs being hacked off before her very eyes was a torment beyond endurance.

“Chiiiiii!”

Crimson sprays erupted from the raw stumps, turning into hissing steam as the blood met the sweltering heat of the lava cavern.

Even for a being who was the literal incarnation of fire, the searing atmosphere caused the fluid within his body to evaporate instantly.

“Kuaaaaaaa!”

The Heavenly Demon remained utterly unmoved by Hong Hae-a’s agonizing wails; he didn't even flicker an eyelid.

Instead, he spoke with a chilling detachment, as if the torture was insufficient.

“This is merely the opening act. It will be quite troublesome if you lose yourself so early.”

Pook!

“Kueok!”

The Heavenly Demon’s hand plunged directly into Hong Hae-a’s midsection.

Though he was a great spirit, Hong Hae-a differed from his kin. Born in human form to the Great Strength King and Iron Fan Immortal, this physical vessel was his actual essence.

Consequently, his internal anatomy bore a striking resemblance to that of a mortal.

Chwachwachwachwachwachwa!

As razor-sharp sword energy was flooded into his vitals, his internal organs were shredded to pieces.

The agony was beyond the limits of description.

“Kuaaaaaaak!”

Pushed past his breaking point, Hong Hae-a let out a jagged scream, the veins in his neck and face bulging violently.

The relentless succession of her son's cries finally snapped Iron Fan Immortal out of her state of shock. The horror of seeing his limbs severed gave way to a desperate lucidity.

Pak!

Iron Fan Immortal tightened her grip on the throat of the Diabolic Beast Alyu, whom she held by a leash, and roared with ferocity.

“Release that child this instant, or I will slaughter this beast!”

She had abandoned all hope of pleading for mercy from the Heavenly Demon.

If the situation was truly hopeless, she decided her only recourse was to strike back with equal cruelty.

At her ultimatum, the Heavenly Demon shifted his gaze toward her and spoke calmly.

“Do as you wish.”

“Provided you are prepared to endure the chaos that single act will unleash.”

Kwadeuk!

“Kweeeeek!”

The Heavenly Demon squeezed and ruptured one of Hong Hae-a’s organs, causing the youth to spray dark, clotted blood.

A mere human would have perished instantly from such a wound.

Witnessing Hong Hae-a in such a state—hovering on the edge of death and barely clinging to consciousness—Iron Fan Immortal wept tears of blood.

Throughout her immortal existence, she had never encountered a soul so devoid of pity.

Even the Great Strength King, the feared sovereign of the Imaemangyangs, would not have displayed such depravity.

Eventually, Iron Fan Immortal’s fingers went limp, releasing Alyu’s neck.

She went further, unfastening the leash and the leather bindings etched with magical spells that had imprisoned the beast’s power.

Kung!

“Kukukuku.”

The weight of the enchanted restraints must have been immense, as the Diabolic Beast Alyu hit the ground face-first, trembling as he struggled to move.

Despite his condition, Alyu peered up at the Heavenly Demon with a look of profound shock.

‘You came to rescue me, even after our connection was severed?’

A wave of deep emotion swelled within him.

Alyu had assumed that once their bond was broken, he would simply be discarded as useless.

But in the midst of his gratitude—

Swick!

The Heavenly Demon gestured toward the Diabolic Beast Alyu with a beckoning hand.

Alyu’s frame was hoisted into the air, flying toward the Heavenly Demon rather than his captor.

Stunned by the display, Iron Fan Immortal spoke through a haze of grief and suppressed rage.

“I realize now that you have no intention of sparing us. I will no longer beg for our lives like a coward. I only ask that you grant that child a swift end. If you must satisfy your bloodlust, take it out on me instead.”

She had surrendered everything.

If survival was off the table, her final wish was to end her son's suffering.

Perhaps her desperate entreaty touched some small part of him.
