Using Knight's phasing ability to bypass defenses, Ryan assassinated Commander Ubai Hefu. The attack caused a massive explosion, leveling the building. Knight suffered severe strain from using his ability, while Ryan gained twenty-one levels, reaching level 82. Now empowered, Ryan decides to confront the remaining enemies, with Knight following behind, depleted of his strength.

The instant I emerged into the open before the devastated mayor's building, the city responded. The black cult's members were already present.

Ten of them were positioned throughout the street, their black robes hanging motionless despite the subtle air currents, their formation loose but obviously anticipating something emerging from the wreckage behind me. At the center of their line stood the one I recognized instantly – the level ninety cultivator who had bested me once when I was off-guard. He was flanked by the two who had previously fought alongside him, while the remaining seven filled the gaps, their levels hovering just below eighty-four, eighty-two, eighty... strong enough to be a threat, but not enough to sway the ultimate outcome.

As I appeared, his gaze immediately fixed on me, the previous calm replaced by a palpable anger.

"What did you do?" he demanded, his voice carrying clearly across the distance.

I adjusted the axe on my shoulder, settling it firmly in my grip as I met his stare. "I killed your boss," I stated. "I'm going to do the same to you."

"Impact Burst." The skill activated beneath my feet, the ground fracturing outwards from the point of impact. The resulting force propelled me forward in a direct line, instantly closing the distance. The air crackled around me as I neared him, outpacing any chance for the others to reposition. "Annihilator Cleave."

My grip shifted on the axe mid-swing, bringing it up and over in a smooth arc as power surged through it. A yellow light enveloped the blade, laced with unstable, violent lightning.

The axe descended.

His reaction was swift: a black barrier materialized before him just as the axe struck it. The impact sent waves through the ground beneath us as the force met the defensive energy. However, the clash didn't end there. The lightning coursed along the barrier's surface upon contact, spreading in jagged patterns before lashing outwards in multiple directions, each arc striking towards the cultists behind him.

Their formation fractured as the chained lightning hit them, their bodies recoiling from the sudden impact. Meanwhile, the primary barrier before me held for another moment, though cracks were already appearing where the energy had been concentrated.

I provided no opportunity for it to stabilize.

I yanked the axe back immediately, my body already moving forward, and drove it down again into the identical spot. This second impact carried even greater force, fueled by the continuously feeding stored energy. The shield splintered under the assault, the cracks spreading rapidly before it collapsed completely. The blade passed through, continuing its trajectory into his chest.

The momentum drove him downwards.

His body crashed heavily onto the ground, the impact gouging the stone beneath him. The residual energy followed through, pinning him in place as a crater began to form around the point of contact. I stepped into the newly formed space without hesitation, wrenching the axe free in a single fluid motion before bringing it down once more. The strike landed directly on his chest, meeting no further resistance or block.

The second impact sealed his fate.

Lightning erupted outwards again, the release tearing through his remaining form and driving the force deeper into the earth, expanding the crater and leaving nothing intact beneath the devastating blow.

I straightened slowly, the residual energy subsiding just enough to allow movement, and turned my gaze towards the remaining nine cultists.

A faint smile touched my lips.

"I'm going to smash you to pulp."

They hesitated no longer.

Neither did I.

"Radiant Drive."

Energy surged through me as I moved forward, the world narrowing to pure motion as I blurred across the distance. The first of them raised his arm to create a barrier, which had barely taken shape before the axe shattered through it. The strike continued unabated, the combined force and lightning ripping through the shield and into his body in a single, decisive action, cleaving him apart before the energy discharged outwards once more, forcing the others to scatter further from their formation.

I didn't linger on him.

The momentum carried me onward, my feet adjusting instantaneously upon landing as I redirected towards the next cultist. The axe was already in motion again as another barrier began to form before me – this one appeared denser, reinforced with layered energy designed to absorb impact rather than merely block it. The blade struck, the resistance holding for a fleeting second before lightning pulsed across its surface, destabilizing the structure. I twisted the axe, driving it through, the edge biting into the barrier and tearing it open before continuing into the figure behind it.

Blood and energy mingled as the strike completed its path. I was already moving again before the felled body even hit the ground.

Each step transitioned seamlessly into the next, the effectiveness of Radiant Drive maintaining the relentless tempo as I moved from one adversary to another. My axe never ceased its motion, delivering devastating cuts, crushing blows, and tearing strikes against all who dared to oppose me. Their responses escalated, becoming more coordinated in their attempts to impede my progress. Multiple barriers and skills were unleashed simultaneously, creating overlapping fields of dark energy designed to stifle movement and absorb powerful impacts.

Yet, none of it mattered.

Annihilator Cleave shattered the initial defensive layer, the unleashed lightning crackling across the interconnected barriers and destabilizing them all at once. I seized that momentary opening, plunging into the breach immediately. My axe followed, cleaving through the nearest opponent before I shifted my weight, yanking it free and driving it into the next aggressor without losing even a fraction of my momentum.

The remaining few attempted to regroup, repositioning themselves to surround me. However, the instant they dispersed was precisely when they forfeited control of the engagement. I exploited this weakness without a second thought, surging towards one flank of their formation and shattering it before they could re-establish their formation.

By the time the last of my challengers was felled, the street itself lay in ruins beneath our feet. Stone was fractured and broken in numerous places, testament to the sheer force of the impacts driven into the ground. Faint, dissipating traces of lightning still lingered in the air.

I allowed the axe to rest for a brief moment.

"You want to accompany me?" I inquired, my voice carrying across the debris-strewn street.

He offered no hesitation in his response.

"No," he replied, his head shaking slightly. "You simply proceed, attend to your affairs, and return when you have concluded."

A faint smile touched my lips as I exhaled.

"Understood. That arrangement suits me perfectly."

Impact Burst activated beneath my feet once more, the ground splintering outwards as I propelled myself forward. The explosive force carried me down the entire length of the street in a single, continuous motion, clearing the path ahead. A laugh escaped me as the momentum intensified, sweeping me into the subsequent area where more adversaries were already converging.

The next cluster of opponents did not receive the opportunity to solidify their formation.

I struck them while they were in motion, my initial blow landing before they could fully process their situation. The axe sliced through one, continuing its trajectory into another as the lightning discharged between them, disrupting any semblance of coordination they might have possessed. The others attempted to scatter, but Radiant Drive ensured I remained locked onto them, closing the widening gaps. Each fluid movement brought me within striking distance of the next target.

Four combatants succumbed in rapid succession, their defensive maneuvers crumbling under the identical combination of overwhelming force and potent energy that had dismantled the first group. I did not falter, nor did I pause.

I initiated my next advance.

Another contingent further down the street had already been alerted to my presence.

It made no difference to the outcome.

The established pattern repeated, yet with increased velocity now. My body adapted instinctively to the flow of combat, each successive strike feeding into the next. The axe moved with diminishing resistance as the potent energy surged through it, the lightning chaining with heightened aggression, finding targets independently and leaping from one foe to another even when my direct strikes did not connect.

By the moment the final opponent fell, a profound silence had descended upon the streets. Only the undeniable evidence of the battle remained.

As the residual energy finally dissipated, a system notification materialized before me.
