The protagonist enters a circular chamber and is immediately thrust into a trial. They face and defeat three increasingly powerful Minotaurs in quick succession, each one a tougher opponent than the last. The protagonist prevails against the final, strongest Minotaur using a powerful skill, but the trial is clearly far from over.

The third beast fell, but the fourth emerged without any delay.

[Minotaur – Level 60]

As the fourth creature stepped forth, the very air grew heavy. Its hooves scraped slowly against the stone floor, and it rolled its broad shoulders before letting out a low, guttural growl that escalated into a mighty roar. Its grip tightened on the colossal axe, and this time, the mystical Qi didn't merely rest along the blade; it pulsed with a thick, dense energy, crawling up its powerful arms as if being absorbed into its very being.

Unlike the others, it didn't charge recklessly. Instead, it advanced towards me with deliberate, slow steps. Then, with a sudden burst of speed, it vanished.

Its form surged forward, tearing through the space between us in a compressed dash, more potent than my own Impact Burst, less explosive but far more controlled.

I had barely any time to react.

The weapon was already descending.

Instinctively, I raised my own axe, bracing for the impact. The moment our blades met, an unimaginable force exploded through my arms, shattering my stance. My feet lifted off the ground, and I was flung backward, skidding harshly across the stone. Regaining my footing, the shock still vibrated through my grip.

"Fast…" I breathed, the word barely audible.

The Minotaur was relentless. It dragged its axe back and slammed it into the ground once more. However, this time, the released Qi didn't spread outwards. Instead, it flowed inward, back into its arms.

The muscles in its shoulders and forearms visibly swelled, expanding as the Qi coalesced, making the axe appear heavier and larger. Its edge seemed to extend outwards, reinforced by the gathered power. The air around the beast distorted from the immense pressure as it slowly raised the weapon overhead.

Then, it let out another roar.

And swung the axe down.

I stepped forward, swinging my own axe in response.

"Annihilator Cleave." The Qi surged along my weapon, instantly condensing and coating the blade in a dense, yellow layer. Pressure built along the edge as I met its devastating strike head-on.

The axes collided with immense force.

For a fleeting moment, reality seemed to hold its breath. Then, the Qi detonated.

BOOM!

My condensed Qi didn't dissipate; it drove forward, directly through the point of impact.

The force surged into its weapon, through its arms, and into its very body, shattering the reinforcement it had so carefully constructed. Its enlarged form cracked first, the Qi surrounding its arms breaking apart before the strike carved deep into its torso.

The Minotaur staggered, its roar cut short as its body bent unnaturally under the sheer power of the blow.

I pressed the advantage, stepping in immediately and swinging again before it could recover. The same condensed force erupted on contact, driving even deeper this time as its defenses completely crumbled. The Minotaur collapsed under the second strike, its body giving way as the residual Qi faded.

I exhaled, believing it was over, but a new ripple distorted the air.

[Minotaur – Level 70]

Another Minotaur emerged from the ripple, and the space itself seemed to constrict around it. This wasn't due to any visible pressure, but from its imposing presence – taller and broader than the others, its frame packed with a raw, latent power that didn't need overt displays. Two massive axes rested casually in its hands. Its eyes locked onto mine, and instead of charging, its lips pulled back slightly.

It grinned, a fearsome sight.

A low growl rumbled from its chest, building into a roar that echoed throughout the chamber.

Then, it moved.

Both axes swung simultaneously, one arcing high towards my head while the other swept low towards my legs, forcing a divided reaction that prevented me from fully committing to either defense. I raised my axe to block the upper strike while twisting my body away from the low sweep. However, the assault didn't stop there. The moment the first clash connected, it seamlessly transitioned into a second, then a third and fourth swing, the rhythm tightening with each blow, compelling me to adjust faster than I thought possible.

The difference in power was immediately apparent. I was forced to retreat, step by step, deflecting what I could and dodging what I couldn't block cleanly. The Minotaur pressed its relentless assault, its axes never pausing, the glow along them intensifying with every exchange.

I took a deep breath and let the surge take over.

"Berserk Mode."

A rush of energy flooded my body, sharpening my senses and tightening my stance. I pushed forward instead of retreating, my axe meeting one of its incoming strikes with enough force to momentarily halt its momentum.

For just a moment.

Then, the second axe came from the side. I barely managed to twist in time, the blade grazing past as I shifted my footing. But it didn't follow through as I expected.

It vanished.

Simply… gone.

My eyes darted wildly, trying to track its movement, but it was futile.

The space beside me twisted unnaturally, and the missing axe reappeared mid-swing, already in deadly motion. Its edge bit deep into my side before I could bring my weapon around to defend myself. The impact drove through muscle instantly, the force carrying through as my body twisted involuntarily. Pain erupted, sharp and immediate, throwing me off balance.

The Minotaur let out a guttural growl, wrenching its axe free in the same fluid motion as it surged forward, denying me any chance to recover my balance.

"A trick weapon..." I gritted out, teeth clenched, fighting to reestablish my footing.

It bellowed once more and advanced with even greater ferocity.

I didn't allow it the opening it sought.

"Radiant Slash."

My blade sliced through the air, the unleashed energy tearing across the space separating us. However, this time, it didn't attempt to block the attack head-on. Instead, one axe rose to meet the onslaught, cleaving through a portion of the energy, while the second axe immediately followed, deflecting the remainder. These two movements were executed with such seamless precision that the attack was dismantled before it could reach the creature's body.

It strode through the dissipating energy.

Closing the distance once more.

"Impact Burst."

I lunged forward, disregarding the agonizing pain in my side, and slammed into its form. The strike landed squarely against its torso, yet it didn't falter as the previous foes had. Its body absorbed the kinetic force, its stance unwavering as it twisted into my blow, one axe sweeping down towards my shoulder.

I pulled back with utmost haste, the razor-sharp blade gouging the ground beside me as I quickly re-formed my guard.

Without a moment's hesitation, I harnessed the accumulating power again.

"Annihilator Cleave."

The energy coalesced along my blade instantaneously, the golden coating intensifying as I advanced and delivered a sweeping blow, meeting its assault directly. This time, I committed every fiber of my being to the strike.

Our weapons collided with a deafening clang.

The gathered energy detonated.

The sheer force surged through the point of impact, driving relentlessly into its weapon, its arms, and then… stopped.

Its form began to glow.

A bronze sheen rapidly spread across its skin, hardening in an instant. The surface took on a metallic luster as the energy from my strike flowed over it rather than penetrating. The explosion still occurred, the force still propagated, but instead of tearing through, it cascaded across that reinforced exterior, scoring superficial cracks without breaking through.

It had simply tanked the hit.

The grin stretched wider across its monstrous face. Simultaneously, it retracted both axes, its stance lowering as the energy adorning the blades began to gather and spiral.

For a fleeting second, an unnatural stillness descended upon everything.

Then, it unleashed a deafening roar.
