Lyrate contacts the protagonist, revealing she has been reborn as a mistress on the Believer side but has chosen Defier to align with him. She has been acting as a spy and gathering information. The protagonist then proceeds to upgrade his class to "Radiant Annihilator" and learns new skills.

I adjusted my stance slightly, my focus sharpening.

"Radiant Drive."

The effect was immediate.

A powerful surge coursed through my body, not an explosive burst as before, but a controlled, continuous stream that gathered in my legs and core, propelling me forward instead of outward. The ground beneath my feet fractured with each step, the subsequent movement quicker and more forceful, building momentum rather than resetting.

Then, I moved.

I rocketed across the plaza, but this time, the speed didn't dissipate after the initial thrust. It sustained. Each stride flowed into the next, the acceleration compounding as I traversed the entire expanse in mere seconds, the wind whistling past me as the force propelled me straight through the open area. I didn't ease off until I reached the opposite side, my feet skidding slightly as I finally halted my momentum.

A single breath escaped my lips.

"More effective for distance than Impact Burst…" I mused, feeling the substantial energy within me settle rather than completely deplete.

Then, I turned back towards the plaza's center.

The fallen bodies remained scattered on the ground, the aftermath of the recent conflict still fresh. Raising the axe once more, I focused on activating the second skill.

"Annihilator Cleave."

The energy transformed instantly.

Rather than expelling outward, it drew inward, condensing around the axe, forming a thick layer of yellow energy along its edge. It neither flared nor dispersed. The blade appeared more substantial, sharper, as if the energy itself possessed physical weight, clinging to the metal while the surrounding air vibrated subtly under its influence.

I advanced, closing the distance to the nearest structure.

Then, I swung. The axe made contact.

And at that precise moment, the energy detonated.

Not as a wave expanding outward, but through the point of impact, erupting into the building and carving a straight path through its structure. The force pressed onward, ripping through the subsequent building, and then the one behind it, the impact chaining through everything in its trajectory as if the strike refused to be limited to a single target.

By the time my motion concluded, the building had been bisected cleanly along the same line, the force finally dissipating only after encountering no further obstacles. I lowered the axe gradually, the yellow coating vanishing from the blade as the oppressive energy receded.

The ground ahead was not merely cut.

It was obliterated.

A distinct, linear path of destruction marked where the strike had passed, debris flung outwards by the force that had annihilated everything in its wake.

I rolled my shoulder once, assessing the sensation.

"This is going to be incredible." The internal energy had not diminished.

If anything, it was already beginning to regenerate.

A smile touched my lips as I opened the map, surveying the vicinity for another Believer safe zone, but none were in close proximity to my current location. The nearest ones were concentrated around a different city, one that appeared considerably larger than Seum.

"What now?" I mumbled, my gaze fixed on the map for another moment.

I was reluctant to venture blindly into another city just yet. It seemed wiser to await Lyrate and proceed together, rather than pursuing targets without a clear objective.

Then, a new idea surfaced. I accessed the shop and navigated directly to the utility section.

[Resource Scanner – 1000 CP]

[Description: Detects valuable resources within a 500-meter radius.]

I read the description once and acquired it without hesitation.

The system integrated seamlessly.

A subtle pulse emanated outwards from my position, almost imperceptible, and then a new overlay appeared on my map interface, prepared to pinpoint anything of value within range.

I took a step forward and activated it.

Yet, no markers materialized.

I rotated slightly and scanned again.

Still nothing.

"How unlucky…" I muttered, dismissing the panel.

There was nothing left in this city that warranted further attention. I turned towards the exit and commenced my movement, passing by the ruined structures and scattered wreckage without pause. As I crossed one of the thoroughfares, my thoughts briefly drifted to the man I had left incapacitated within the dwelling.

Rudy.

For a fleeting instant, I considered turning back.

Then, I dismissed the thought.

"It doesn't matter," I stated quietly, continuing my forward progress.

The city gates soon came into view, still damaged from my earlier entrance. I stepped out of the city without a backward glance, breaking into a steady run as I headed towards my designated safe zone.

Billion Sanctuary.

The distance was considerable, but my pace remained unbroken. Simultaneously, I kept the resource scanner active, allowing it to sweep the surroundings as I moved through the dense forest, my eyes periodically shifting to the interface to monitor for any changes.

Several minutes elapsed.

Then, a marker materialized.

An arrow.

Indicating the left. I decreased my speed slightly, turning my head in that direction before adjusting my course without ceasing my movement, transitioning onto the new path as I navigated through the trees.

The arrow continued to guide me forward. After a few more minutes, it changed.

The directional indicator solidified. The arrow transformed into a fixed point.

A single point of light. I edged forward slightly, quickening my stride, heading directly for the destination.

The guiding marker guided me away from the primary trail and deeper into the dense woods. The trees gradually became sparser until the terrain sloped downwards ahead, revealing a vast opening that wasn't naturally formed. My pace slackened as I emerged from the tree line, my sight fixing upon the clearing's center.

A crater was present.

Its edges were jagged, the earth violently displaced outwards, as though an object had impacted with tremendous force, shattering the land and carving out a hollow. The interior revealed darker, more compacted soil, and at its heart, an object stood.

A stone platform, circular in shape, was slightly elevated from the crater's floor. Its surface was marred by numerous cracks but remained structurally sound. Upon it rested a throne.

It was in ruins.

One section tilted backward at an angle, while the other was fractured and thrust forward. The break ran straight through its middle, suggesting it had been sundered with deliberate intent. The throne bore deep abrasions, numerous gashes, impacts, and wounds that showed no sign of healing. Chains were draped loosely around it; some remained fastened, but most had snapped, their broken ends strewn across the platform.

No statue. No symbol. No manifestation of any divine entity.

Merely the remnants of something that had once asserted dominion and had been overthrown.

I advanced cautiously, the ground within the crater feeling more substantial beneath my boots. The air grew eerily silent, surpassing the normal quiet of the forest, as if even the surrounding woods refrained from intruding upon the scene.

Reaching the platform, I set foot upon it, my gaze unwavering from the desolate throne before me. There was no radiance, no immediate response, absolutely nothing to indicate its activation until I took another step nearer.

The system registered its presence.

[Defiant Relic Sighted]

[Shattered Throne of Defiance]

[Claim it… or depart]

I regarded the throne for another prolonged moment, then moved forward once more, closing the final gap between us.

My hand extended.

"I don't abandon my finds."

The instant my fingertips grazed the fractured stone, the platform responded with a jolt.
