The protagonist destroyed a machine with a powerful new skill, leveling up significantly. He then swiftly cut through a group of believers and their rooftop defenses before reaching the central plaza. There, he confronted four remaining believers and initiated a fight against their leader.

The residual force from our collision vibrated in my arms as I regained my balance, my feet skidding across the plaza's surface before I finally halted, and as I raised my eyes again, an immediate transformation was apparent.

The silvery radiance enveloping his sword remained undiminished. Rather, it expanded.

It crept outwards from the blade, enveloping his arm, then his shoulder, and in a fleeting moment, it had cloaked his entire form. This was a controlled aura, pulsing with every deliberate step he advanced. He didn't rush this time. His gaze briefly swept over the two fallen figures behind him before returning to me.

"You will face retribution for this."

His voice was a low, menacing growl. Then, he attacked. His sword ascended and sliced once.

Followed by a second strike. And a third.

Each swing unleashed multiple compressed blades of wind and Qi, which tore through the atmosphere in overlapping trajectories, hurtling directly towards me in rapid succession. The space between us vanished instantly, attacks converging with no discernible gaps for evasion.

I surged forward, raising my axe to intercept.

The first blade met my weapon... deflected.

The second... severed.

The third... shattered upon contact.

I continued my advance, my arms adapting to each impact, the rhythm intensifying as more strikes followed, each one swifter than the last. The axe rang with every parry, its edge flaring with a yellow luminescence as I carved through the incoming assaults one after another.

Yet, their sheer number proved overwhelming.

One managed to slip through my guard.

Then another.

A sharp gash appeared across my arm.

Another sliced across my chest.

One tore into my leg, forcing a slight adjustment in my stance as blood immediately began to flow. Despite the injuries, I could not falter. The final blade splintered beneath my strike, momentarily clearing the space. Seizing the opportunity, I moved.

"Impact Burst."

A surge coursed through my legs, overriding the pain as my body propelled forward, annihilating the distance in an instant. The remaining adversary beside him had not yet reacted, his sword poised but his timing flawed. My knee drove directly into his chest. The impact launched him backward, his form crashing heavily against the stone ground as he fell motionless.

However, I couldn't follow through with a decisive blow. The level fifty cultivator was already upon me. He sidestepped, then his body shot forward with unprecedented speed, the silver aura intensifying as he closed the distance instantaneously. His sword lunged directly at me in a piercing thrust.

I raised my axe to counter, but before our weapons could connect.

The light shifted. From the tip of his sword, a condensed beam of silver Qi erupted, moving faster than the sword thrust itself, a concentrated strike that breached the intervening space before I could fully adjust my stance.

It pierced directly through my left shoulder. The force punched cleanly through, rending bone and muscle before exiting, the impact throwing my body slightly off-balance as searing pain flared immediately. Then, the blade arrived. I managed to force my axe upward just in time.

The collision struck me with full force, the sheer weight behind it overpowering my footing completely this time. My body was propelled backward, skidding across the ground, blood seeping from my shoulder as I rolled once and forced myself back to my feet.

The pain was intense. Yet, I remained standing.

He didn't hesitate. His gaze briefly flickered to the man I had just downed, his expression hardening upon seeing him immobile, then returned to me, the silver aura around him flaring with increased intensity for a moment.

I could sense his anger. This time, he raised his sword high.

The radiance surrounding his body began to draw inward, consolidating, gathering along the blade as the aura receded from his form and concentrated at a single point. The weapon started to hum, the surrounding air distorting as the Qi rapidly accumulated.

Then, he swung.

"Silver Severance."

The silver arc streaked toward me, heavy and condensed, carving a path through the ground as it closed the distance, the pressure behind it far exceeding any previous attack. The surrounding air warped, the force dragging dust and debris in its wake as it hurtled directly at me.

I let out a single breath.

"Berserk Mode."

The transformation was instantaneous, a surge flooding my body, spiking both strength and speed anew as the pain receded, suppressed by the rushing Qi. My grip tightened around the axe as the heat radiating from its blade intensified.

"Radiant Slash."

My axe moved in a clean, sweeping arc.

The energy surged forward immediately, a fusion of fire and radiant force blending into a single roaring blade that tore through the air towards his attack, brighter and faster than before. The instant the two collided, a burst of energy flashed outwards.

BOOM!

His silver arc fractured first.

The radiant blade sliced through it cleanly, cleaving it apart as the energy dispersed outwards, unable to withstand the driving force of my assault. My attack continued, undeterred.

The relentless assault continued. His widened eyes struggled to react, but he was too slow. In the ensuing moment, the blade plunged through his body, the sheer force propelling it completely to bisect him cleanly. The silver light enveloping him shattered along with his form.

The unleashed energy surged past his remains, impacting the structure behind him. It blasted through stone and wood, its destructive aftermath rippling outwards.

[Level Up!]

[Combat Points +400]

[Congratulations on eliminating the leader of the Believer Safe Zone – City of Seum]

[The city is now available for acquisition]

[Influence Points +300]

[Acquire City of Seum?]

"Yes."

The confirmation was immediate. The space before me shimmered, distorting subtly as energy coalesced into a singular point before solidifying. A token materialized, hovering at my eye level, its surface bearing the distinct name of the city – Seum.

I reached out and grasped it.

The instant my hand closed around the token, the system chimed in.

[City of Seum Acquired]

[Influence Points +1000]

A visible pulse emanated from the plaza's center, an energy wave surging through the city, observable even to the naked eye. The very atmosphere shifted, and then a golden shield ascended, expanding its reach until it enveloped the entire city, securing it under my dominion.

I opened the map. The red marker that had indicated Seum vanished.

It was replaced by a golden hue.

The three safe zones I had previously claimed, and which surrounded Seum, now also displayed the same golden marking, all interconnected within a single network.

Another notification appeared.

[Class Upgrade Available]

[Proceed?]

"Ohh… an upgrade. Ye—"

I halted my response mid-sentence as a new notification overlaid the previous one.

[Olivia Rium has accepted your friend request]

I blinked once.

"Olivia…?"

The name didn't immediately trigger recognition.

Then, with a slight tilt of my head, I recalled.

"I don't recall sending a request to anyone named Olivia…" I murmured, my gaze narrowing slightly as I reopened the communication panel.
